I've been reading over on the official forum simply because it's so nice to see everyone so happy. I just aged up the baby in my dynasty to child -- oh, well, there's the next generation, and the Challenge Team hasn't decided what to require yet.

I was just thinking about you guys and wondering what you were going to do with the challenges that play through generations! It's a good reason to be busy though.  :)

They seem to be fully featured, as though they fit right into the game from the get-go. This is pretty much what people wanted with toddlers, I imagine. Also it must have cost a lot of money and took many man-hours to capture the animations and design all the systems to work with existing content. They did an amazing job.

I want to feed them to a cow plant...after stealing their candy.

@jestina Dark. You'll probably need a mod for that though. Hopefully the social worker gets there first.

So, toddlers get 1 week at this life stage while kids retain the 2 week life stage. I mean, I'm happy because toddlers are cute and wonderful but from a challenge perspective, it just makes everything drag on longer. Like, not aging up early is the reason I don't play Rotational Dynasties often or well- it now takes 15 weeks in game to get all the heirs to Young Adult and just...yeah. Sure, the one week child stage in Sims 3 made for a huge time crunch. But bonus hats off to EA for the so far great integration of toddlers into the game. This has been a long time coming and I'm glad it's here.

It really is detailed, it is clear they were working a long time as the SimGurus say. Leveling up your toddler actually improves their behavior and stuff, so it simulates parenting pretty well. I don't yet know how a level 5 movement kid might do as a child, and if they keep any skill/get a bonus moving on, it's something I want to investigate tomorrow. I don't think it matters if they don't, these are good bonuses for saving time raising the toddler - them acting out and not being able to move around is a challenge early on, and it eases up as they learn, much like reality.

Well, looks like my sims household is going to be a little busier than I had anticipated. Daddy sim just got abducted and has a glowing stomach while Mommy sim is in her third trimester. lol. Toddler mayhem!

I was SO happy to see Toddlers added and for free!  The gameplay had lost interest with me shortly after each new pack as I really missed the toddler life stage.  The interactions are really sweet and I also like how they've handled the skilling.  I would also like to see more hairstyles and clothing but I figure that will come with time.  At least the outfits have several colour options and different patterns.  All and all, it really great patch with a lot of free content.  Well done EA!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post about this update earlier.  Busy with work and whatnot.

For anyone who is still curious, there is also an official trailer up on Youtube:

The Biggest Little Update: Toddlers Are Now in The Sims 4!

January 12, 2017
by SimGuru Lyndsay

Today is a big day for The Sims™ 4. We're excited to announce the biggest update for The Sims 4 to date, and it comes in a surprisingly “little” package. Toddlers* are available as a free update for you to download into your game right now!

In the two years since we launched The Sims 4, we’ve heard from players on what they’d love to see added to the game. While we can’t always address these requests, we do take note of all of the feedback you've supplied, and what kind of experiences you are asking for. We know that the toddler life stage is an experience that many of you have consistently asked for, and it's very important to us that as we do it in a way that makes sense for The Sims 4, and feels right for our players.

I'm not exaggerating when I say we've been talking about this particular update for years. We just had to find the right time, resources and design to allow us to start the heavy process of actually building and bringing Toddlers to life. And believe me when I say it has been really REALLY difficult to not talk about this as we worked to get it right.

Toddlers is something that has been in the works for a while, and I am really proud of the work that the team has put in to creating these adorable little Sims. I think you’re really going to love how interactive they are, so get ready for a lot of cute, heart-warming moments as your Sims help their toddlers to develop new skills through using flash cards; teach them to talk; have a dance party; and encourage them to go potty. Your Sims can also bond with your toddler by reading them to sleep, carrying them around the house, or babbling away about trucks.

The Sims 4 base game has always provided a foundation upon which we've consistently grown and expanded, and we hope that Toddlers will help to capture those moments of growth and nurturing we've seen you share over the years - in addition to highlighting the special bonds between parents and toddlers as they grow. We've added over a hundred new animations, dozens of new interactions, and great new suites of outfits and objects. But most importantly, we've bridged a really meaningful part of your Sims' lives.

I've been playing with toddlers myself (a little charmer who loves her tablet and taking naps on the floor) and I can’t wait to see what you do! This update is a result of hearing what you, the players, really want from The Sims 4 - so please keep sharing your feedback and screenshots with us on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr & Instagram!

My only thought when I found out about toddlers was, "OMG, the Origin servers are SOOOO gonna crash this weekend." :D

I can't wait to try them out. I'm with the approximately 99.99999% of you who felt that this was the One Big Thing missing from the game.
