This is great! I'm addicted to this challenge and I love seeing how other people handle it. I believe you can buy a bookcase, btw. Look at the comments on the rules page. I think Pinstar permits it.

This is a very entertaining story! I love Moxie's ability to keep her spirits up despite great hardship.
Summer trying not to make fishing a competition cracked me up. That face!
I second buying a bookcase. I think the rule forbidding them only applies to community lots. At least that's the way I interpreted it.

Here's the actual rule: "You may not order books from bookshelves or online, and may not visit library lots (even if visiting other lots is otherwise allowed)."

So you can buy a bookshelf as long as you don't buy books for it. Just have your sim read Crisis Barn or The Lord of the Swings or whatever for the job requirement.

It's always great to have an Apocalypse Challenge story to read and I absolutely love your spunky founder!
Cheers to your founder for marrying an evil sim--she seems to have him/his evil trait well under control, lol.

And I'm chiming in with everyone else--you can buy a bookcase for your crib but you can't buy one, for example, to add to the park when you can visit other lots but haven't lifted the Author career restriction.
