@MarianT
I don't enjoy mining that much, only doing what's required for mats and achievements.
The first year, I spent a lot of time fishing and didn't reach the bottom of the mines until Year 2.
I'm nearing the end of Year 3 now and haven't gone to Skull Cavern but 3 times (died every time, lol) this save.

Oh, that's a shame and a bit of a surprise that the monsters on your Wilderness farm don't count toward the Monster Eradication goals.
I have been halfheartedly working on those goals lately. I mostly want the Burglar Ring.

My shoulder's also been feeling a little sore this past monthl. Let's all of us be careful!
That's a great point about leveling Combat, though; it's always my lowest skill.
What time do the monsters come out?  7 pm?

The monsters come out somewhere between 7 and 8 pm, but only 1 or 2 at first.

You wrote "only 1 or 2 at first." Does that mean as the days pass (or your Combat level or another factor changes), you face more and more monsters at night?

Also, about finishing the Community Center in Year 1, I forgot to mention that I was incredibly lucky with NPC gifts in my current save.
Emily gifted me wool and I was able to buy red cabbage, some fruit, and a truffle from the Traveling Cart in Year 1.

Oh that's not bad at all.
For some reason, I imagined the farmer would have to fight off 10-12 monsters every night.

A few questions as I continue working on the achievements. I'm currently in Spring, Year 4.

*Slime Hutch
What is the point of a Slime Hutch?  I get enough iridium ores from my Lava Ell fish pond and Statue of Perfection.
Is it to earn the Monster Eradication goal of killing 1,000 slimes?

*Prismatic Shard
I used my first one for a Galaxy Sword and need one more to complete my museum collection.
Have you found them often in the Skull Caverns?  Haha, I continue to avoid that place but it seems inevtiable...

*Rarecrow from Qi's Casino
Have you either of you bought this? I've read that the best way is to go on a very lucky day then eat +Luck foods.
The rarecrow costs 10,000 Qi coins and I need it to receive the Deluxe Scarecrow recipe (my only missing item for the Craft Master achievo).
I guess this is one of those looooong-term projects. Any tips?

*Skull Caversn
Because I'm chicken-hearted, I plan to work on the Monster Eradication goals in the Mines until I both hit Level 10 Combat and earn the Burglar's Ring. *sighs

*Update on the Rarecrow from Qi's Casino
After several unsuccessful attempts at playing the slot machines and CalicoJack, I realized that I could simply buy 10,000 Qi coints for 100,000 gold.
After lots of clicking, I could buy the Casino Rarecrow.
The next day, I got a letter with the Deluxe Scarecrow recipe which I crafted.

I'm back. I just had a pretty bad cold, which is almost better now.

@oshizu
You’re very welcome.  Thank you very much.  Although I have 3 barns, I’m only using 1 barn for animals, another barn for cheese presses, looms, etc. and a third barn for chests and other junk.  I heard that lightning can strike your stuff outside, such as chests and cheese presses, etc.  In the greenhouse, I’m growing crops, and around the perimeter of the greenhouse, I have 4 chests, 9 jam and pickling preserves jars, 2 kegs, 6 iridium sprinklers and 3 trees in there.
I’m sure your farmhouse looks nice.  I agree that Elliot’s room is the coziest of the spouse rooms, and it goes better with the house, as well.  I’m really excited about the 1.5 update.  You will like marrying Elliot because he’s so nice.  I think I’m slightly biased because I’m a writer, as well.
I think I meant that I sold the ancient seed artifact, and so now, I need to get another one, so that I can get the recipe/plantable ancient seed so I may sell the ancient fruit.  You had awesome luck at the traveling cart 8).  That’s great.
Thank you for the save file location/other technical information.  Thank you for that great website about achievements.  That looks like a great resource.

That’s an awesome find.  I’m glad you were able to find out which secret notes you still need.  The last item on the collections is secret notes (on the left hand side).  Congratulations on getting the Gourmet Chef achievement.
Thank you very much for your nice message about my shoulder/back/neck healing.  I had a minor setback this week  Because of my cold, I had to sleep on 2 pillows, so now, my neck hurts a little more right now.  However, I’ll make an appointment with my chiropractor, and that will help.  I hope your shoulder feels better soon.
My favorite ring is the Iridium band, but I really like the new Napalm Ring and Crabshell Ring.  However, it’s always great to have a Glow Ring when you’re not in the mine or in Skull Cavern.
Marlon calls having a slime hutch a hobby, and I think Grandpa likes you to have all the buildings as part of his evaluation (or it could improve your score, but I know you already have 4 candles).  Now, I’ll have to get a Lava Eel fish pond.  I haven’t gotten any fish ponds in any of my saves yet.
It is a good idea to go to Skull Cavern/obtain Prismatic Shards on a best luck day.
To obtain prismatic shards in Skull Carvern, iridum nodes increase as you go farther down.  Omni Geodes can give you prismatic shards.  Serpents and Mummies also can drop Iridum ore.  In the mine, you will find, Omni Geodes, mystic stones (25 % chance of a prismatic shard) can be found in both the mine and in Skull Cavern.  Gem nodes are found in both places, as well, and I’ve seen mystic stones and gem nodes in the quarry, as well.  Fishing Treasure Chests. Shadow Brutes, and Shadow Shaman have a chance of giving you a prismatic shard.
I’ve gotten other rarecrows, but not the one from Qi’s Casino.  I’ll bet a best luck day is the best time to get one from there, though.  Good luck getting that rarecrow.  I’m happy to read your update about getting that rarecrow.  That’s cool.

I think that’s the best plan, “I plan to work on the Monster Eradication goals in the Mines until I both hit Level 10 Combat and earn the Burglar's Ring.”

@MarianT
Thank you very much for your nice message about my shoulder/back/neck healing.  I hope you have fewer issues playing games, too.  The wilderness farm sounds really cool --- especially leveling combat faster and getting mixed seeds from drops, and it’s nice that your farmhouse is always a “safe” spot for the farmer.  It would be awesome if they counted toward your goals for each type of monster on the Adventurer’s Guild list.  It’s nice to know that the monsters don’t appear until 7 p.m. or 8 p.m. and increase slightly as your combat level increases.  Like Oshizu, I thought there were many monsters each night on the wilderness farm, so I was nervous about trying it.
I buy many of the fish that are needed, but now, I’m improving at fishing.  Foraging is my favorite skill, but I’m really good at farming, combat and mining.

I think I covered all the points you guys wrote about.  This is a fun thread to be in.

I'm back. I just had a pretty bad cold, which is almost better now.

(Omitted...I'l respond to the rest of your message later.)
I think I meant that I sold the ancient seed artifact, and so now, I need to get another one, so that I can get the recipe/plantable ancient seed so I may sell the ancient fruit.

I also needed a second Ancient Seed artifact for the Craft Master achievement. I found an easy way to get this artifact  from a thread on Steam.
You have access already to the Sewers, right? I went to the Mutant Bug Lair and killed all the monsters and gathered all the fiber three times.
I ended up with 3 Ancient Seed artifacts.  It's easier than the mines b/c we don't have to look for ladders or fight slimes & other monsters.
Good luck!

Thanks so much @oshizu that's awesome 8)!  I'll try it now and let you know how it goes.

Edit: I just opened Jojo Mart was with that extra bundle for end game.  I have extra good luck tomorrow.
Did that end game bundle need to be activated before killing all the monsters and collecting all the fiber 3 times in the Mutant Bug lair?

Getting the Ancient Seed artifact to drop in the Mutant Bug lair has nothing to do with completing the Missing Bundle.
You can do whichever you want first.
As for the three times, that's just how many times I tried it.
I can't remember exactly now, but I think the bugs respawn when you exit and re-enter the Mutant Bug Lair.
You might not even have to do it three times. :D

I took Harvey to the Movie Theater on his birthday in Winter. It was so fun!
Usually, I don't even befriend Harvey in other saves, but I'm glad my farmer married him. He's a sweet husband. :)

For the Missing Bundle at JojaMart, you need 5 out of 6 options.
I only got a prismatic shard very recently, so I did the other five options.
The fish ponds are not expensive. If you have one with strugeon, you can get sturgeon roe to age into caviar for the Missing Bundle.

I think I'm on track to earn all the Steam achievements except the two Prairie King achievements and Monster Hunter (complete all the Monster Eradication goals).
For the last one, I'll need to battle at Skull Cavern, haha.
My biggest "problem" now is the the second child for the Full House achievement.
It's been a month since the first kid became a toddler and vacated the crib, but Harvey won't ask my farmer if she wants to have a baby.
I've read on Reddit and Steam that my famer needs to go to bed and sleep before the spouse, but that hasn't helped.

coolsim999999, do you remember how long it took for your farmers to have a second child?
One reddit poster said he's been waiting for two in-game years. That's too loooooong, lol!

I started my current save this year, so I don't use barns for storage, as one of the updates added the Large Shed upgrade; it's much cheaper with a smaller footprint than a Deluxe Barn.
So I have 2 Large Barns, one for preserve jars and one for kegs.
Now that I've read your post, though, I might add another regular shed to store my barn/coop machines. Hmmmm....

By the way, I don't believe my farmer's luck was particularly great when she went to the Mutant Bug Lair.
But there's only Mutant Grubs and Mutant Flies there; they have a 0.5% chance of dropping an Ancient Seed artifact.
That's the same percentage for any monster who drops that artifact. Good luck!

Edited to add:
*Baby update: My farmer is finally pregnant! The 2nd child will be born one year and one day after the first child.
Going to bed earlier than spouse doesn't matter. My farmer went to bed at 1:50 am, and Harvey asked anyway.
All the nights I "wasted," coming home early, chatting with harvey in the evening, and going to sleep before 10 pm, lol!

Thanks a lot @oshizu.  Getting the Ancient Seed artifact to drop in the Mutant Bug lair has nothing to do with completing the Missing Bundle.
I’m glad the Missing Bundle doesn’t affect the Ancient Seed Drop.  Thanks for letting me know that the number of times doesn’t affect it.  I’ll try re-entering the Mutant Bug Lair after I exit it.  I hope I can get it after only one more time.
I’m happy you’re enjoying your save, married to Harvey.  He is a great game husband.  I always have coffee with me, so, I just give him coffee to max out my hearts with him --- at least to 8 hearts in the saves in which my character isn’t married to him.
It’s good to know that I only need to bring 5 items to Jojamart for the Missing Bundle.  Congrats on getting that prismatic shard.
I’ll set up on with sturgeon to age their roe to get caviar.

It’s awesome that  you’ve completed most of the acievements!  I’ll never complete those 2 Prarie King achievements, either…I can never get past level 1 of that game.  I wish I could help Abigail in  the cut scene, at least.  In saves before the 1.4 update, I’ve gotten the Monster Hunter achievement, but now there are several on the second page of that paper on the wall at the Adventurer’s Guild.
You’ll be o.k. at Skull Cavern 8).  Maybe get that Crabshell Ring and Iridium Band first.  I always bring Pumpkin Soup.  If you have 7 hearts with Robin, then, she’ll send you a recipe for it in the mail.  It have 2 defense and some luck, and it lasts for 7:41 when you eat it.  It takes 1 milk of any type and 1 pumpkin to make it after you have the recipe.  I also bring tons of coffee and cherry bombs (4 copper and 1 coal) to make more of those, regular bombs (4 iron ore and 1 coal), as well as iron ore and coal to make more bombs while I’m there.  I usually end up at Harvey’s if I bring Mega Bombs (4 gold ore and 1 coal), but bring them if you like them.  You need gold ore and coal to make them.  I also always bring a chest or 2 to leave outside the “main door” of skull cavern and near the elevator in the mine.  The chests will remain there for the entire save --- or wherever else in the world you need a chest outside your farm.

I think Harvey takes his time to ask you, but make sure you max out your hearts to 14 with him because I think maxed out spouses ask you to have children sooner.  Reddit is correct about needing to go to sleep before your spouse.  I forget when Harvey goes to bed.  He can’t just be awake, he needs to not be in bed before you.  I think spouses take a season to ask you to have a second child.  Just make sure that you keep gifting Harvery coffee, talking to him morning and night and kissing him when you see him both times.  The time it takes to have a child could also vary with each save file.

I forgot about the large shed.  That is a good idea.  I think I got the Deluxe Barns because I could afford them and because the large shed hadn’t come out yet during this save (started in January 2017).  It’s really good that you have a keg barn and another preserves large barn.  I use one shed for kegs.  It would probably be good to save up for some additional storage in case of being struck by lightning.  It could be just a rumor, but I didn’t want to take a chance after I read that.
I’m glad to hear that your farmer’s luck was extra great when she went to the Mutant Bug Lair.  I will try again soon, but I need to really play Stardew sparingly right now because my shoulder and neck hurt more than before my bad cold because I had to sleep on two pillows during it.  I think I killed all the Mutant Grubs and Mutant Flies each time I went there.  Thanks for wishing me good luck and giving me the drop percentage.
Congrats to your farmer on getting pregnant.  A year and a day is a long time to wait for a second child in this game.  Maybe the game was updated to not have to be in bed before your spouse.  I guess I’ve “wasted so many nights doing all the “get pregnant faster things” in this game, too.  Being in bed before 10 p.m. is so hard and annoying.

@coolsim9999999
I'm sorry to hear that your recent cold resulted in aggravating your shoulder and neck again.
Please take a complete break and heal back 100%!

I know I'll never get the two Prairie King achievements, but if I can complete the three Monster Eradication goals in Skull Caverns (mummies, serpents, and Pepper Rex), I can get the Monster Hunter achievement.
I do have the Crab Ring and Iridium Band already--I also have the Burglar's Ring and Slime Charmer ring.
Still trying to decide on my 2nd ring after my Iridium Band. Thanks for sharing the info about the Mega Bomb. I never use them, only the first two sizes.
I have 9 fish ponds now, but never got a Prismatic Shard from my two Rainbow Trout ones.
I fish from my Eel and yellow Cucumber fish ponds when they reach 10 fish, so I have made lots of Spicy Eel and Lucky Lunches.
Previously, you mentioned Pumpkin Soup so I've a big stack of those, too.

Now I'm just waiting for the nerve to return to Skull Cavern, lol.
Thanks for the all the positive energy and good luck getting your ancient seeds!

@oshizu
Thank you very much for your nice message about my cold/shoulder and neck.  I will take a complete break from Stardew, but I’m still here for questions and to hear about what’s happening in your game, and any other posts on this thread!

I’ll never get those Prairie King goals either…lol.  I know you can complete those Monster Eradication Goals.  Mummies only die with bombs --- although you can run away from them if you use your sword.  I would go with the regular bombs --- and then run fast to get far enough away, although, those bombs won’t make you lose all your health.  Oh yeah, get some of those tonics at Harvey’s before you go to Skull Cavern.  The crab ring (my vote for your second ring) has plus 5 defense, added to that Pumpkin Soup and a best luck day, will be 7 defense.  If you have 90 items in the museum and claim that as a reward, or you can buy Magic Rock Candy from the new desert trader with 3 Prismatic Shards.  That candy gives you:
Buff(s):    Mining (+2) Luck (+5) Speed (+1) Defense (+5) Attack (+5) Buff Duration:8m 24s, 500 Energy and 225 Health.

Haunted Skull’s also can drop that candy. In the Quarry Mine or The Mines on dungeon levels.
So, your defense would be up to 12 with that candy, pumpkin soup and a crab ring.

Slime Charmer rings don’t do anything in Skull Cavern, only in the mines. That candy is also a cooked item, so maybe you already cooked it.
It says that the Burlgar ring only makes Monster’s drop loot more.  Maybe you’d do that for a small Skull Cavern run after you get more used to it.
I know what you mean about getting the nerve to go into Skull Cavern.  It took me about 3 months of playing the game all day, every day for 3 months to even crack the door open.  It took me a month to even go to level 2 of the mine on my first save.

I’m glad my message gave you “positive energy.” 8)

I’m sure you already know that eating a different special meal changes the buffs your character has.  I always buy a lot of salads from the saloon before I go to the mines or to Skull Cavern because you can eat them when your health or energy gets low. Getting some life elixir from Dwarf is also a good idea for Skull Cavern.  Maybe bring the Spicy Eel and Lucky Lunches to leave outside Skull Cavern in a chest.
