Haha, I'm not so sure, but I will certainly give it another try or two. Thanks for your vote of confidence!

@oshizu --- You're welcome.

It took me quite a while to get better at Skull Cavern.

Staircases are the best thing in there.  I don't like mummies....

@coolsim9999999

I'm taking a simming break this month and am feeling the tug of Stardew Valley. :)
When I stopped playing previously (September), I'd been working on the Gourmet Chef achievement.

But the reason I'm posting today is about two videos about the 1.5 update.
Have you seen them already? I would love kids to be more interactive and a tropical-themed beach farm!!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBu5bojbyK8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh2yyT8j4b0

Oh, and two more questions. Which farm type are you playing now and which is your favorite?
My oldest farm is a Standard Farm but I stopped playing after 3 years. I also have played the Hilltop Farm.
My newest farm is almost 2 years old and has the 4 Corners layout, which I'm enjoying.
I just loaded my farm and I could've sworn I'd built an extra multi-player house near the south exit for crashing in emergencies but it's not there, haha.
Anyway, looking forward to hearing about your fram. Building a slime farm for iridium ore is a great idea--never thought of that.

Hi @oshizu,

I hope you’re having a fun Simming break.  The master chef aspiration is a great one so no food ever spoils (as you know).  I really like that reward trait.

I love Stardew Valley and can’t wait to play it again asap.  Thanks for the video links.  I’ll watch them tomorrow because it’s just after 4:45 a.m. for me, and I haven’t gone to sleep yet --- oops!

I haven’t seen the 1.5 update yet.  I’ve only played the 1.4 update because of my shoulder/neck injury, but I’m hoping to play soon.  I’m really excited about the 1.5 update.

Is that in the 1.5 update “love kids to be more interactive and a tropical-themed beach farm.”  That would be cool 8).

Answers to your questions:
Your farm sounds cool.  I always play the standard farm (my favorite type of farm because of all the space once you clean it up, but I may try the forest farm to get the secret woods stuff faster.  Did you like the hilltop farm?  I may try that one, too.  The only one I wouldn’t want to do is the wilderness farm because I don’t want to deal with monsters on my farm.  I have about 10 save files for Stardew, and I’m on year 11 in my oldest save.  I love that farm, and I married Elliot and have 2 kids with him with all the end game stuff --- except for the 1.4 endgame and 1.5 new stuff.  I even have the golden clock in that save, as well as the other stuff the wizard can give you after you get the magic ink.

I guess you need to ask Robin for another guest cabin.  It stinks that it’s not showing up in your game, though.

When you get a Slime Hutch to harvest possible iridium ore, you can “trap” the slime by fencing them in or blocking them with chests or something.  Then, just hold down your left mouse button and let the watering can rip and fill all 4 water troughs from your “safe spot” where the slims can’t attack you --- or just get some Oil of Garlic from Dwarf.

Alternatively, just get 4 candles to light right after Grandpa’s evaluation.  The Statue of Perfection behind his grave gives you between 3 and 8 iridium ore a day, depending on your luck that day.

Oh, I never knew that food spoils in Stardew Valley. I wanted to complete Gourmet Chef for the cool chef's hat. :)

If you've watched the video, you know now that the 1.5 update isn't out yet but it planned for release later this year according to the Bradigan video.
So I spent some time "researching" slime hutches and it seems like a lot of hassle.
But yesterday, I finished Year 2 and got the Statue of Perfection so now I don't need the Slime Hutch, haha.

As for the hilltop farm, I picked it back then because I thought it would help me level mining faster, but the way the space is divided makes it a challenge to plan farming plots. It was just okay.
I agree with you about the wilderness farm--no thanks! I'll also probably never play on the Riverland farm because all the little islands would make farming a hassle.
I'd also like to try the Forest Farm someday and even used the SDV Planner to plan out a layout, but ended up going with the 4 Corners layout.
I'm really enjoying my Four Corners farm. It's less spacious than the standard layout but still has lots of room.
In my game, it's Year 3, Day 5 of Summer. I spent most of the winter reorganizing my farm layout so I need to re-do my paths.
Haha, my farm looks pretty pathetic but, hey, it's barely two years old!

I married Seb (1 kid) in one game, then married Maru (no kids) in another.
This game, all the candidates except Penny are my boyfriend/girlfriend but I can't make up my mind, haha. Not Shane nor Haley, though.
I'm trying to see those group 10-heart events, one for the bachelors and another for the bachelorettes.
Then my farmer will settle down, I guess.
That's cool that your oldest game with Elliott has all the end-game stuff.  Sadly, I never stick with one save long enough.
So I've never built any of the wizard stuff, even. :(   (Edited to add: I added a junimo hut yesterday!)
In my current game, though, I'm trying for a completionist run to earn all of the achievements. We shall see.
I'm trying to get a prismatic shard (for a Galaxy Sword) from my Rainbow Trout fish pond. Until then, I might be avoiding Skull Cavern, haha.

Whew, this turned out to be a long post. Would love to see a screenshot of whichever farm you're playing most these days.
Or, both your oldest one and your latest one, even.

Hi, guys!

I thought I would probably not play Stardew Valley again, but a few days ago I started a new game. I picked the Wilderness Farm and got a bat wing already. I'm curious to see the Movie Theater, but I guess that's a long way off. Just trying to get things going with fishing, mining, and farming. And making friends.

Those 2 videos were great @oshizu 8)!  I’m happy you got the Statue of Perfection a few days ago.  I agree, it does take resources, time and money to run a slime hutch.
That does sound like it would help you to max the mining skill faster, but I heard about the problems with farming in that type of farm.  I don’t think I’ll try the riverland farm, either.   The SDV planner can be very helpful.  Before I found that, I drew out my farm’s layout on a piece of paper, and in all my saves, I stick to it, with minor changes, as I played more.  I really like your farm with the 4 corners layout --- and I’m glad it has lots of room.  Winter is a great time for reorganizing stuff and/or chests on any difficult luck day.
I’ve married both Seb and Maru in different saves, as well as Elliot and Harvey (all with 2 kids).  I think I married Elliot in 2 different saves, and I stayed single in others.  It would be awesome to see all those heart events.  I’ve seen several, or you can see them online if you don’t want to anger the townspeople by dating all of them.
I think I got most of the End Game stuff in my Elliot game in about 1 month of playing all day.  I’m working on End Game stuff in another save, as well.

It’s awesome that you built a Junimo Hut a few days ago.  They’re so cute and helpful.  I’ll bet you’ll complete everything in the game.  You could buy Omni Geodes from Sandy in the dessert or get them in the mines or prismatic shards from the mines as drops from Mystic Stones or monsters.  I’ve had alright luck in Skull Cavern with the Lava Katana (25K) from the Adventure’s Guild, but that’s pretty expensive, and the galaxy sword is free --- although, Marlon will sell you more Galaxy Swords, if you lose yours.  Actually now, you may retrieve 1 item if you die in the mine or Skull Cavern from Marlon.  Marlon will also sell you a Galaxy Dagger (I or a Galaxy Hammer (75K) which is even stronger than the Galaxy Sword.  You have major knockback with that hammer and the damage is even better.  If you have to choose between the Galaxy Dagger and the Galaxy Hammer, get the Galaxy Hammer.

My computer won’t take screenshots of Stardew anymore.  I don’t know why, but I’ll look for a screenshot of one of my farms.

@MarianT
All my saves except my current one are from 2016. :)
I had been looking online recently to find another farming game and watched Youtube gameplay videos of several games, then ended up back with Stardew Valley.
The 1.4 update added a considerable amount of content, so I've enjoyed exploring all that.
The Wilderness Farm, eh? Combat is my worst SDV skill, so that farm would surely stress me out, haha.

@coolsim9999999
You should have a screenshot option in SDV. Look at your Options menu (with the controller icon), then scroll all the way to the bottom.
When you click on that Camera icon, the game saves your  house interior (if you're in your house), your farm (if you're outside on your farm), or some zone in SDV (if, for example, you're in Cindersap Forest).

Haha, I got to 10 hearts with all the marriage candidates and saw the group 10-heart cut scenes, one for bachelors and one for bachelorettes.
This has been a really fun save but I feel like I'm getting back into SDV in preparation for the 1.5 update.
Haha, I might save Elliot for that game...
Thanks for your nice words, but I doubt I can complete "everything," because mining is always the last thing I do. :(
In this game, I've only been to Skull Cavern three times so far, though I completed the Community Center in Year 1. Ugh, I suck at combat.
And at Prairie King, too!
I did get the Master Angler and Gourmet Chef achievements for the first time this month, though.

I hope you can find your game's screenshot feature! :D

That's awesome, Marian!  It's interesting that you picked the Wilderness farm.  I'm glad you already got a bat wing.  I haven't seen the Movie Theater yet in my games with end game stuff, but, that was added in the last update, I think.  I haven't finished exploring the 1.4 update before the 1.5 update comes out.  It is fun to start a new save.  Have fun 8).

About the Missing Bundle for the movie theater, I thought I'd finished it in Year 2, then I realized that it requires a silver-quality wine, not just normal wine.
I did finally get the farmhouse's basement done and opened the movie theater last night.
Using Random.org to pick a spouse, I married Harvey. Now I'm waiting for a movie he likes to show so we can go.

I'm the worst farmer, I guess. By the time I'm done tending the animals, crops, fish ponds, and jars/kegs/casks, all the shops are closed.
MarianT, how are you enjoying the Wilderness Farm so far? Now you've got me curious!

coolsim, I'm determined to buy all the obelisks and get as many achievements as I can (I can only earn 3 more and the rest are too hard for me).
I bet you have all the stuff to open the move theater right away in your save with the golden clock! :)

@oshizu --- I have looked at other farming games, as well, but I like Stardew better.  I found the screenshot icon thing.  Thanks so much.  Your instructions were great!  In my other saves, I've planted tons of stuff (all the way down to the big pond on the farm.  Here are my 2 pictures of my first farm, which I’ve added to over the years as updates came out:
My First Farm.jpgInside My Farmhouse.jpg

It’s fun to see all those 10 heart cutscenes.
I hope I’m going be able to play Stardew again soon because my shoulder/back/neck is starting to feel better --- finally. The 1.5 update sounds great.
You’re welcome.  I think you can get better at combat.  The monsters you kill, the better your combat skill gets.  Just corner them and get them with your sword.  I’m not very good at fishing in Stardew, so I know how it feels --- and yes, I’m really bad at Prairie King too.  Until you get used to Skull Cavern, always go there on a excellent luck day, bring lots of food with defense buffs and coffee --- or buy some food at Gus’s or in the dessert at the new shop.
It’s awesome that you got the Master Angler and Gourmet Chef achievements and did the Community Center in year 1.  Elliot is a great choice to marry and very nice.  He’s my favorite one to marry in Stardew.

You’ll get all that end game stuff and most of the achievements.  I’ve never gotten the Angler one.  I think I need a few things from the 1.4 update before I can open the movie theater.  I also need an ancient seed for full shipment in my oldest save because I sold the artifact ancient seed when I was new to the game, and I can’t find one anywhere in that save now.  I’m going to keep looking, though.
I still have to see the movie theater, but I’ll do that soonish.  Harvey is a good pick to marry, too.  It will be cool to go to the movies with him.
I do some watering and stuff in the morning, go to town, etc., do more farm stuff, and then go to the mines, forest beach, bar or wherever after I’m done.

Marian, I’m wondering about the Wilderness farm, too, now :).

@coolsim9999999
Thank you for sharing your farm screenshots. Wow, you have 3 barns! Are you raising a lot of pigs? ;)
Are you only growing crops in the greenhouse?
I love what you've done inside your farmhouse! Mine still looks pretty shabby.
Elliot has the best spouse room! I'm saving him for the new game i start with the 1.5 update.

You don't need an ancient seed for the Full Shipment achievement (which requires an Ancient Fruit), but the Museum Collection requires an Ancient Seed artifact.
If you ever decide to go for more achievements, I found this website 2 days ago. It looks at your save file and tells you which things you need for each achievement.
Like which fish for Master Angler, which crafted items for Master Crafter, etc.
https://mouseypounds.github.io/stardew-checkup/

The "Choose File" instructions are slightly wrong. The save file location, as you probably already know, is C:/Users/[user name]/Appdata/Roaming/StardewValley
It even told me which Secret Notes I'm missing and which I've found but not collected rewards for.
I wish I'd known about this website when I was working on the Gourmet Chef achievement. Would have saved me a ton of time!

By the way, I'm glad to hear that your shoulder/back/neck area is getting better these days. Best wishes for a speedy full recovery.

@oshizu, wow, finishing the Community Center in the first year is pretty impressive! I'm definitely looking at Year 2 for that because I only have 4 gold-star parsnips. Plus, the fish usually take me longer.

@coolsim9999999, I hope your shoulder and neck get better, too. I need to be careful as well, and playing computer games definitely aggravates them.

The wilderness farm is kind of fun. You get bats first, which can be found with the scythe, then several days later the green jellies show up, and now in the middle of summer, there are the dark zombies (I think that's what they're supposed to be). The good thing about them is that they drop mixed seeds from time to time. You can outrun all of them and get your farmer into the house if you don't feel like fighting or have low health or energy. The main advantage is that you level up combat more quickly; the biggest disadvantage is that you're going to be discouraged from chopping down trees or fishing on the property late at night. One annoying thing is that they don't count towards your list in the Adventurer's Guild. But they never come into the house, and they don't show up in other areas of the map, just your property.
