Oh dear. Sounds like the routine is getting to Katie a bit. Or perhaps to her Watcher. :) She's coming along fantastically, though, so congrats! I like the work hard, play hard philosophy. I also admire her purple wardrobe.

Interesting to know the top-notch toddler perks might be too overpowered. Takes a little of the pressure off trying to max out every toddler possible. You know, just to keep the game challenging. ;)

At least Katie is working on DJing which gets her out of the house and around other people!
I mean, it looks like she's having fun!

I don't mind toddlers being over-powered. I prefer to front-load my grinding, hehe. (whereby I've gone ahead and jinxed myself...)

Congrats on your sixth immortal, Alex! You're closing in on the finish line.  ;D

Wow! Congratulations on another immortal.

Also, Katie is really pretty as well as phenomenally talented.

Her watcher’s okay – Katie, however, hasn’t been getting a whole lot of sleep since she got old enough to drink potions.

To be fair, I’ve been cheesing Top-Notch Toddler a bit lot. Katie also has Creatively Gifted, Muser and Morning Sim, plus mentors for most of her skills, and it’s making the skill-gain rate insane.

At least Katie is working on DJing which gets her out of the house and around other people!

I kind of hate toddlers, so it bugs me that you really have to play them intensively or put yourself at a massive disadvantage. But at least the trait is a plus side to tolerating toddlers, I suppose.

Wow! Congratulations on another immortal.

Also, Katie is really pretty as well as phenomenally talented.

Thanks! She did get a bit jammy on the genetics – she seems to have got the best possible combination of genes from her various ancestors.

Katie, it turns out, is not very good at throwing parties. Her first attempt at a weenie roast resulted in a small fire breaking out.

Ada, who was sleeping in her bedroom one floor up and at the other side of the 50x50 lot, managed to catch fire. Meanwhile Katie, who was holding the violin that started the fire in the first place, was completely unscathed. Anybody want to explain that one, because it’s confusing the heck out of me. In other mysteries, how it was Ada’s everyday clothes that got all charred rather than her pyjamas?

If at first you don’t succeed...

...throw another party, this time with an even bigger fire. Both Charlotte and Katie caught fire this time, but were fortunately put out.

We decided to give weenie roasts a break after that and have a nice safe house party. What could go wrong?

So we tried a dinner party, and Chantel promptly bit the dust.

In happier news (I suppose), Christopher has learned to do a backflip. Yep, that really was the best news I could come up with!

His so-very-elegant landings are the best part.

Katie threw yet another party. The guests weren’t exactly thrilled to be there, and I’m not sure I blame them.

Still, eventually her luck changed and she finally managed to throw an uneventful house party.

One weenie roast, with no fire beyond the intended camping one.

And a gold medal dinner party, this time with no fatalities.

She rounded off Party Animal with a gold medal birthday party, which was also the final gold medal party she needed for her dynasty requirements. Thank goodness ;D

One aspiration down, she did a bit of job-hopping to knock out the career requirements for Renaissance Sim, and finally settled on the Science career. Not somewhere where her musical talents will necessarily be appreciated, but she does have level 8 logic, and she likes a challenge (as do I).

Reuben tutored her through to level 8 of guitar, as Natalie and Charlotte watched on – either anxiously, or because they really need to get lives.

And with that done, she was through with Aspiration Number Two. Happy birthday indeed :) And now, tinkering with electronics in pursuit of scientific breakthroughs. Hopefully she has better luck with that than she did with the parties....

Wow, that was some supremely bad luck with parties at first!
Personally, I avoid weenie roasts like the plague. There's always one idiot who's constantly throwing logs into the fire!

I'm glad everyone held on and Katie was able to complete Party Animal.
Sounds like she's almost done with most of her requirements. I love the Scientist career!

Best wishes to you, Katie, in your pursuit of immortality!

Oh, my word! What a comedy of errors! Fires! Abductions! Deaths! I'm amazed and extra impressed that Katie managed to finish her aspiration amid all that chaos.  Well done!

I couldn't help but laugh at the unenthusiastic guests gathering for another party at the bluffs. Who knows what might happen?

Excited to see what the scientist career holds for her! What an ambitious and well-rounded sim!

At least I’ve worked out who the log-chucking idiot is now. Despite supposedly being a genius, Matthew seems to be the main culprit – so if there are any more weenie roasts, they may just take place while he’s out at work.

I love the Scientist career too :D This generation’s a lot of fun.

The party disasters weren’t much of an issue from the aspiration perspective – she was still at the bit where you have to earn silver when the fires happened, and the deaths and abductions (for some reason) weren’t held against her.

Katie arrived at the lab for her first day.

Although she’s tended towards more creative persuits in the past, she quickly adapted to life as a Scientist.

She still finds time to return to her music, though, and she’s reached level 10 of the DJ Mixing skill.

At weekends, there are the usual fishing trips, which are now so routine that they don’t even bother to change out of their PJs.

And the family are very much slipping into passing-the-time mode. Charlotte has even autonomously tried out sports, so she really must be getting bored.

Meanwhile, Chris and Reuben are both collecting – I’m working through Curator with everybody for easy happiness points, as the Potion of Youth stocks are looking like they might get a bit low.

Katie had her adult birthday.

And her work tasks began to get more interesting as she approached the end of the Scientist career.

She’s been throwing Wormhole Generators together whenever she gets free time at the end of a shift: once she had eleven (plus one to take to work in her pocket), she added them to the family museum. I’m now out of space in my museum building, so generation 8 is going to have to collect something really small.

Katie invited one of her colleagues, Karim Seddiki, on a date. They’ve been friends for ages, and I’ve had him in mind as a potential baby-daddy for a while.

However, he turned out to be mean and their date descended into an argument. Katie ended up propping up the bar with a different colleague, Reece Owen. I was a little dubious about that nose, but they got on and he has decent traits, and so Katie invited him home.

The mid-woohoo discovery that he was an alien came as a bit of a surprise, but, too late now.

The eating for two message popped up right before work started...

...and once she started her shift, she hurried to share her big news with Reece.

Katie asked him to be her boyfriend - cue much excited squeeing all round.

And then she mind-controlled him to clean up. As you do.

Christopher was delighted with her big news too :)

Her pregnancy sped by, largely because I’m playing zoomed out on fast speed to reduce the now-inevitable lag. Katie went into labour over breakfast, and waddled off to the nursery.

Annoyingly, the game locked up at that moment and it jumped right past the giving-birth sequence. Katie was a bit miffed to have missed out, and stalked off in a huff.

So it was left to Christopher to greet his great-great-great-great-granddaughter. Welcome to the family, Chloe!

I laughed at the whole family in their sleepwear, fishing at Sylvan Glade.
Katie turned out really pretty--I love the shot of her sitting at the bar with her head tilted with a little smile.
Yes, make the boyfriend clean, by all means!

I never knew that playing zoomed out reduces lag--I'll have to try it the next time my game starts lagging. Thanks for sharing that.

Still chuckling over your wonderful phrase "mid-woohoo discovery," haha. Only a fellow simmer would know what that means.  ;D

It's so satisfying to watch Katie making such quick progress! It must feel even more so for you.

I missed an update!

Oh dear, all those disastrous parties  :o :(.  At least you didn't lose anyone from the fires - although Ada getting burnt at the other end of the house (and, presumably, with everything in between unaffected) is downright weird.  And worrying: is anyone safe, anywhere?

I was amused by a little detail in that shot of Charlotte taking up basketball.  Because of where she's standing, it looks as though Katie has grown metal wings, like a sort of robo-fairy  :).

And congratulations on the arrival of gen 8!

Welcome, Chloe! I don't blame Katie for stalking out. That's a lot of work for no recognition! I love your choice of Reece, but I'm very fond of unique noses.
I'm doing Curator with my immortals now for points as well. It's kind of fun, and it does keep them busy!
I laughed about Katie's wormhole generators taking up so much space that Gen 8 will have to collect something very small. That definitely narrows it down. :)
Hooray for the final generation!

It seems to work some of the time, and yesterday was one of them. Other days, playing zoomed in on one thing seems to be faster – go figure! No idea why, or whether it’s really less laggy, but it seems to be.

It's so satisfying to watch Katie making such quick progress! It must feel even more so for you.

She’s suffered a bit from her work progress bar glitching and not crediting her with days worked, but the rest of the time, yes, it was very satisfying :)

Yup, everything apart from Ada and Katie’s violin was completely unharmed. I have absolutely no idea what Ada did to deserve it!

I hadn’t noticed the robowings until you pointed them out, but now I can’t stop seeing them :)

Oh, I don’t blame her either. Except the part where she wouldn’t feed Chloe – that part was a bit mean.

I’ve built a little island room in the middle of Christopher’s museum room for Chloe’s stuff – since his microscope slides only need wall space, there was a load of empty floor in the middle. It looks really odd, but I don’t care!

Katie invited over her favourite colleague, and promoted her to best friend status. She’s already good friends with most of the other scientists (and the Invention Constructor), so that was her friend requirements taken care of.

She got her final promotion and maxed out the Scientist career.

It was excellent timing: it also happened to be Chloe’s birthday, so I could switch my attention over to full-time toddler training. As both her parents have brown eyes and black hair, unsurprisingly Chloe does too.

Chloe became just as clingy as her mother before her. That picture on the right was taken moments after Katie got home from work – Chloe toddled straight out to greet her with a big hug. I haven’t seen a Sim do that since Sims 2 :D

There was an iffy moment when I thought she was going to miss out on the final movement point by an infuriatingly small amount, and everybody who was in the house was sent in to coach her in block-stacking. I have no idea whether multiple tutors helps, but worth a shot, right?

Either the three tutors or the placebo effect did the trick, and Chloe became a top notch toddler with a few minutes to spare. Natalie took her straight to the kitchen to blow out her candles.

She’s picked up the outgoing trait, and started work on Social Butterfly.

The children she befriended bore a striking resemblance to Christopher. Funny that...

When she wasn’t being sociable, Chloe worked on the other aspirations – I ended up knocking them all out completely unnecessarily, just for something to do.

Katie’s elder birthday rolled around.

She was able to eat her ambrosia straight away, so did, quickly, before the oldest of her friends dropped dead.

And the family elders celebrated with an unofficial dance party.

Chloe’s next birthday soon followed.

She’s become a gregarious goofball, and doesn’t appear to have inherited Reece’s nose.

And since she's a goofball, she made a start on the Joke Star aspiration.

How amazing that the Johhson Family now boasts 7 immortals. You've accomplish so much with such dizzying speed!
It sounds like the Scientist career really worked out for Katie, seeing as she made so many good friends there.

I, too, am curious about the multiple tutors effect! I have seen cases where extra adult sims will join another adult sim who's mentoring a toddler.
Perhaps I'll just watch the skill bar.....nah, I'm too lazy!
Great job! Best wishes to Chloe as she heads into the final stretch! (I giggled about her friends looking like Christopher...)

Hooray for Katie! Nice work, immortal lady! (Was not attempting to make a very short poem there. Apologies.)
Loved the informal dance party to celebrate!

Nice job Chloe as well! Graduated from chewing on rubber ducks to telling jokes in one update! Way to go, girl!

It sounds like the Scientist career really worked out for Katie, seeing as she made so many good friends there.

It worked out great – I was worried about trying to do an active career so far through, but she worked late every day, and the game ran really smoothly once it was off the main lot. So she spent all her spare time befriending everybody and making wormhole generators (and eating vending machine junk food).

Hooray for Katie! Nice work, immortal lady! (Was not attempting to make a very short poem there. Apologies.)

Thank you!

Now that she was a teen and had Romantic social options available, Chloe began to convert her Social Butterfly friends into serial romantic interests. Her main partner, if there is such a thing, was Christopher’s lovechild Raelyn Childs – a romantic geek, and Chloe’s childhood BFF.

They spent a pleasant weekend knocking out dates to achieve the first half of Serial Romantic.

When Raelyn’s back was turned, Chloe also became the girlfriend of every other teen in town, including Raelyn’s younger sisters once they aged up.

And just as she ran out of teens to romance, she had a very convenient birthday....

...and set to work on the adult population.

She continued to work on her comedy skill, and joined the entertainment career (and had to wear a particularly silly outfit).

But she could tolerate the uniform – she got to tell jokes for a living, which she loved.

[At this point my game developed a delightful bug where it stopped capturing screenshots. I got the major shots with Print Screen, but it took ages to switch between windows and I didn’t take many. So if you’re thinking this update seems a little sparse, that would be because it is  :(]

Chloe had her adult birthday.

And soon after, was promoted to the top of the Comedian career.

She hurried off to a nightclub to make herself some friends, including making the mixologist her new BFF. (Things with Raelyn had been a bit awkward since she witnessed Chloe’s first kiss with somebody else....)

In fact, she was so taken with the club that the rest of the Johnsons came to hang out there. The game ran so much more smoothly on the smaller lot that they worked it in shifts, taking it in turns to go home for sleep and showers.

Ada isn't so good at partying, but she managed to pass the time anyway.

And finally, the big day arrived.

Chloe's collection of comedy books was added to the family museum.

And she ate her first (and last) dish of ambrosia.

And then there were eight :D

(Back row: Matthew – gen 5, Christopher - founder, Reuben – gen 6. Front row: Natalie – gen 3, Chloe – gen 8, Ada – gen 2, Charlotte – gen 4, Katie – gen 7.)
