Meet Christopher Johnson.

Chris is an outgoing, quick-learning genius, who loves the outdoors. He’s also attempting to found an immortal dynasty.

He moved onto the empty lot where Oakenstead had stood until moments before, and tried not to be freaked out by the fact that his new ‘home’ appeared to be a field. A field where, apparently, large buildings could suddenly vanish without a trace. Nothing terrifying about that, obviously.

To take his mind off it, he headed to Oasis Springs to pay a visit to the Roomies household and their nice still-standing house.

He was let in by Mitchell, and they made polite conversation and admired each other’s beards until Mitchell’s hot, female, housemate put in an appearance.

Why Chris and Zoe decided to cloudgaze here and not out in the actual garden, I do not know, but that is what they did.

Chris took a moment to use Mitchell’s computer to file some paperwork for his new job in Business.

Then he asked Mitchell’s hot female housemate if she’d like to become his hot female housemate instead.

She would.

Chris tried to distract Zoe from the scary empty field by attempting to flirt.

He wasn’t quite sure what to make of her response.

Fortunately, they soon had something else to think about. They used their meagre starting funds to build themselves something that sort of resembled a house...

...and decorated it with cheap wallpaper off-cuts, posters, and mismatched furniture sourced from second-hand shops and gifts from relatives who were well-meaning but slightly lacking in good taste.

But it was their home, and that was what mattered.

Christopher headed outside to make a (very small) start on what he hoped would become an epic garden.

Zoe used the tiny kitchen, and cooked her very first meal.

She was very proud of herself.

And then they cuddled up in their so-called beds for their very first night in their new home.

While Chris did his first day at work, Zoe explored the world a little:

And Zoe caught her first angelfish.

The fish was creatively named Angelica and put in pride of place in the kitchen, where she can watch Zoe cooking fish tacos and wonder what goes into ambrosia.

You're off to a good start! Zoe has beautiful children. I can't help feeling sorry for Angelica, though.

Great start! The house is so adorable for a starter! It looks very homey and comfortable. Love your bearded founder (chuckled at his mutual beard admiration with Mitch), and Zoe is a great choice for spouse. Looking forward to more!

The Johnson Dynasty is off to a very charming start, indeed. A first angelfish already!

I love the starter home and envy your building talent.

Waiting to see what develops between Chris and Zoe.

Me too :(

The house is so adorable for a starter! It looks very homey and comfortable.
Thank you :) *blush*

Chris made a couple of friends and promptly mooched off them, using their homes and furnishings to do his Business career daily tasks and level up charisma.

He also lurked creepily in the park and attempted to persuade passing children to play chess with him.

His new skills resulted in him earning his first promotion. He was delighted...

...as was Zoe, when she returned from a hard day’s fishing.

They had a celebratory meal of leftovers, nicely flavoured by their bottom-of-the-range fridge.

Time passed. Chris went to work, filled in paperwork, learned logic and charisma, and worked on his garden in any spare time. Zoe mostly fished, taught herself to cook, and helped out with the garden.

One weekend, Chris and Zoe started out gardening, but ended up flirting instead. At least, I think that’s what they’re doing.

Chris invited Zoe out on an ever-so-romantic date to the lovely gym. The smell of sports shoes and the risk of running into Don Lothario’s special brand of small talk – how could she resist?

Chris’ choice of date clothes was very irresistible as well.

Zoe tried to pull off a subtle Just Stretching My Arm manoeuvre.

Chris didn’t buy it, but was happy to play along.

The date progressed as standard: lots of flirting, a couple of jokes, a hug, and a kiss or two, while that poor guy in the background wished they’d get a room.

First gold medal earned, the date progressed to a proposal.

She said yes!

They headed home, and somehow, Zoe ended up fatter than usual, and craving confectionary for breakfast.

And a couple of days later...

Welcome to the family, Ada Johnson!

Yay! Welcome Ada!

I'm so impressed that you're doing all this without helpers. You seem to be coming along great, though. Smart move going to other people's houses for the mirrors and computers. :)

Loved the engagement date, particularly Marcus Flex's side-eye.

Ah, a nice fresh new dynasty.  I'm happy with your idea to use your friends' and neighbors' houses.  Fantastic that you already have your first heir!

I'm happy with your idea to use your friends' and neighbors' houses.
Smart move going to other people's houses for the mirrors and computers. :)

And to borrow their unbroken plumbing :D The loading screens got annoying fast, though.

Instead of baby proofing their house, Zoe and Chris decided to make it a little more dangerous. His name is Cuddles, and he wouldn’t hurt a fly, honest.

The next day, it was time for Christopher to age up, acquiring his second gold medal social event in the process.

A day or so later, Ada followed suit and aged up to a faintly sinister-looking child.

The house was extended slightly, adding a bedroom for Ada and slightly expanding the main living space.

Speaking of Ada, she’s become Creative, and is working on the Artistic Prodigy aspiration.

Now that Ada was older, Zoe headed off for a day trip to Granite Falls. She fancied a change of scene, and the stupid blackberry bush in Oasis Springs wouldn’t become harvestable for love nor money.

She spent a pleasant day fishing, harvesting and collecting bugs, before conscience kicked in and she headed home to check on Ada (and Christopher). They were coping.

But were very pleased to see her and her maxed cooking skills, nevertheless.

Life settled into a pleasant routine. Zoe caught fish (and occasional bits of furniture).

Christopher tended the garden.

Ada talked to strangers.

And occasionally found time to play.

Christopher formed a club, so that he could be its leader. They didn’t do much – mainly they slept, tended the garden and acquired new members, but people claimed to be delighted with Christopher’s leadership anyway.

In between his job, skilling, garden-tending and club gatherings, Christopher also made a point of spending time with his daughter. He had a hunch that the house might get a lot more crowded in years to come, and it was nice for it to be just the two of them every once in a while.

And it was always nice when he found time to hang out with Zoe.

Once she completed Artistic Prodigy, Ada focused on completing Social Butterfly, and discovered that she was one of only two children left in the world. She befriended the other one, quickly.

I’d been hoping to play without any helpers, but had been thinking about moving somebody in to play pollinator sooner rather than later. This sealed the deal.

While Ada and Alvin were raiding space together, Zoe headed off to visit a recently-orphaned Malcolm Landgraab. Once she explained the lifestyle she had in mind for him, Malcolm was more than happy to move in.

So that was the long-term child shortage sorted out. Short-term, though, Ada was about to age up and she was in need of child-aged friends. The only solution I could think of was a little rash.... Meet Luke.

And Richard.

Richard seemed fairly happy to be there; Luke, a little more confused. Me too, kiddo.

But they made the best of it, and helped Ada enjoy her last day of childhood.

Wow, I look away for a second and Christopher is celebrating his adult birthday.
You are really sailing through your story! I'm glad that Ada inherited her father's arresting eye color.

Awww, you had to adopt two children so Ada could complete Social Butterfly.
We used to be able to open the adoption menu then cancel it to generate 10 single-parent households with infants or kids (thanks to @reggikko for the recent reminder), but this ploy hasn't been working for me since the release of City Living.

Love your charming little house. I remember now that you submitted stunning entries for this year's Building Contest. I love reading/viewing stories by simmers with building skills.

Wow, I was surprised your town was out of kids already, but I guess a good amount of time has passed if Christopher is an adult already.

I was amused at Zoe going to Granite Falls by herself.  I was terrified to leave my guy home alone for even a day, the time was too precious.

Golly! Ada is a bit sinister-looking, isn't she? She's pretty intense, but her eyes are lovely, and personally I love unique-looking sims. I'll be excited to see how she looks as she ages up.

Loved the drastic measures to help her achieve her social butterfly aspiration. Her new brothers are both adorable.

Very excited to see how Malcolm fares as a pollinator.

Just a little! :D

Wow, I was surprised your town was out of kids already, but I guess a good amount of time has passed if Christopher is an adult already.

It has – I think I just missed a couple of kids growing up. There are loads of teens around.

I was amused at Zoe going to Granite Falls by herself.  I was terrified to leave my guy home alone for even a day, the time was too precious.

I didn't dare leave him home alone either – Christopher and Ada were at work/school for most of the time Zoe was out. It was more of a day trip than a holiday.

Awww, you had to adopt two children so Ada could complete Social Butterfly.

Darn, I wish I’d known about the cancelled-adoption trick.... Still, I was intending for both Malcolm and Chris to have a son each at some point – the child shortage just sped them up a bit.

And thank you so much for your lovely comments on the house :D

The sudden increase in both people and household net worth meant that another home expansion was in order. To Chris’ horror, his old house vanished, just as Oakenstead once had. In its place, a new house appeared in a flash, with (just about) enough space to accommodate Malcolm and the boys.

Ada officially became a Social Butterfly on the morning of her birthday, and Zoe made her a cake.

Once Ada had been safely aged up, Christopher spent some time with his new son. He wanted to make sure Luke felt wanted, and absolutely planned and stuff.

In the meantime, Zoe was looking rather pregnant. ‘Cos what this house needed was another kid, right?

As of her birthday, Ada has become outgoing. She’s going to attempt to complete Friend of the World, and she took advantage of having aged up at the weekend to make an early start on it.

Malcolm’s been making friends too, but his take on socialising is a little different.

Zoe gave birth quietly at home. It’s another boy, and his name is Nicholas.

Meanwhile, Christopher was reaching the point of finishing his requirements. He maxed out gardening and logic, and began putting together his collection of microscope slides.

Just as well, really. He’s now an elder.

And he’s not the only one who had a birthday. Welcome to childhood, Nicholas!

Ada joined her dad in a mad skilling frenzy. She’s focusing on cooking and charisma.

While Christopher specialised entirely in charisma, which was the final skill he needed for his requirements.

Meanwhile, Malcolm continued spreading the Landgraab genes throughout the world.

In other news, Zoe decided that she and Christopher had been engaged for long enough.

While they were in the party mood, the assorted Johnsons and Landgraabs quickly knocked out a house party and a dinner party as well. Doesn’t this look fun?!

The next day, Chris returned from work with the smug smile of a newly-promoted level 10 businessman.

He celebrated by taking his first vacation day, which he spent talking to the neighbours and cementing some old friendships.

He placed his eighth microscope slide in the newly-constructed family museum.

And Zoe whipped up her first batch of ambrosia. Angelica turned away and tried not to watch too closely.

And then, surrounded by dirty plates and Richard’s mislaid toy llama, Christopher Johnson ate his first plate of ambrosia.

Yay! Congratulations to Christopher! First immortal already!
The house remodel is gorgeous, too!
The cake-smashing picture is great. My sims have never done that. I'm jealous!
Ada aged up to be lovely, and seems to be doing an amazing job on her requirements already.
