(Great news that the Exchange Promise Rings bug has been fixed!)

Be careful - it hasn't! I thought it had, but what you didn't see in the story was the part where they briefly had to just be friends before getting back together and getting engaged. Fortunately they're sufficiently besotted with each other that the 'getting back together' part took seconds ::) :)

Ahh, it happened to one of my legacy couples last (RL) month, which is why I'm familiar with the issue.
I'm glad to hear that temporarily becoming just friends temporarily didn't slow down your crazy-love couple!

I love Matthew's expression in that YA CAS pic.  Lily looks a lot like Anna now.  As a toddler, she seemed to have a completely different face shape.  Has Reuben inherited the green eyes as well as the red hair?

I don't blame the family for wanting to stand around watching Reuben.
One, he's so cute. Two, it's better than being banished outdoors in search of angelfish!

Two very good points! Especially the bit about the fishing – not sure immortality’s worth it at that cost, really.

Lily looks a lot like Anna now.  As a toddler, she seemed to have a completely different face shape.  Has Reuben inherited the green eyes as well as the red hair?

Weird, isn’t it? I thought they looked nothing alike, but they got more similar every birthday.

And yes, he has Lily’s green eyes (insert Harry Potter reference of your choice here :).)

It’s been a while since Grim last paid the family a visit, but sadly, he stopped by for Anna. She made it a few days longer than anticipated, but I rather wish it had been more. Anna was a beloved mother and grandmother, good friends with everybody in the house, and a level 10 sportswoman. And my favourite, but don’t tell the others.

Reuben provided some distraction from the household’s sad moodlets: he proved to be a very silly toddler despite being officially Angelic. The whole family chipped in to take care of him.

His perma-playful state was great news for his Imagination skill, but made the others a little bit awkward. But through a combination of dancing and spamming ‘Why?’, we got there in the end.

Good, sociable Natalie did much more than her share of the toddler care, so she got the honour of taking Reuben to his first birthday cake.

Having been such an imaginative toddler, it wasn’t surprising that he grew up to be an arty child, and as a Music Lover, he was very pleased to discover the piano.

He’s not so good at chess, but became a whiz kid anyway: what he lacks in genius, he makes up for by cheating.

Matthew selected the eSports Gamer branch of the Tech Guru career, and gets to play video games every day and call it work.

He’s also had a birthday, and is now a full adult.

Thanks to her pregnancy, Lily is now very slightly younger, but she soon followed Matt into full adulthood.

They remain utterly devoted to each other, and finished off the 50 romantic interactions each for Soulmate with zero help from me. It’s all kinds of nauseating :)

Matthew finished most of his requirements obnoxiously early, so he’s taken up Wellness while he waits for his elder birthday to get a bit closer. He just needs his six good friends, which can wait a while, as the game’s started culling people. I’m not filling Anna’s old spot in the household with a pollinator for the same reason.

Reuben had another birthday.

He maxed out the piano skill as a child, because Top-Notch Toddler is absurdly over-powered. Now that he’s big enough to hold a guitar, he’s taken up his second instrument.

He’s now working his way, slowly, through Musical Genius – I always forget how tedious the ‘Write four songs’ bit is :(

And in other news, there is evidence of senility setting in among the oldest Johnsons. I’m sure you’re meant to turn the screen on before you start playing video games.

Life marches onward so swiftly in the Johnson household! Rest in peace, Anna.

Reuben is well on the way to completing his first aspiration. (Write 4 songs = ugh!). It's hard to believe he's already a teen!
Do you think he favors his mother looks-wise?

I laughed at your comment on Matthew & Lily autonomously completing their 50 romantic interactions. That's really something!
They sure spared their Watcher sim-hours of spamming romantic socials, haha.

Loved the last shot of the oldsters gaming with the TV off. :D

Nah, they're just making it more challenging - the electronic version of blindfolded chess.  They're old enough to be bored with the vanilla version :).

Oh! I think Anna was my favorite, too. I'll miss her.

Good to know about top-notch toddler working so well with skilling! Congrats to Reuben on being such a rock star! (and a total cutie!)

I love how in love Matthew and Lily still are. Fifty is a lot of interactions to do autonomously! Very nice!

Loved Matthew's secret to parenting a toddler. Oh, what I would have given for a sleep replacement when mine were littler and getting up ten times a night!

Only in colouring – otherwise, he’s more of a mixture of both parents.

They sure spared their Watcher sim-hours of spamming romantic socials, haha.

Very true :) Only I had to keep intervening to make them do little things like eating and sleeping instead!

Aha! That might be it :)

They’re adorable, but also a little bit sickening :)

I may have pushed Reuben a little too hard on the song writing front, but he completed his fourth song before he passed out.

Once he’d recovered from the exhaustion, Lily was persuaded to play the piano for a few hours so he could mentor her, and he finished off Musical Genius.

With that out of the way, he’s moved onto painting.

With Matthew’s elder birthday in sight, he began the usual round of spamming cheerful introductions, compliments, and cloudgazing.

His collection of carved camping mascots was added to the family museum.

Reuben became a young adult, and threw himself a gold medal party to celebrate.

And the next day, Matthew became an elder...

...and had his first serving of ambrosia.

Lily aged up a couple of days later.

They renewed their wedding vows, just because.

Reuben’s joined the Painter career, so his life currently consists of being chained to his easel, and not much else.

And the elders are eldering.

A group went into the city so that Ada could learn some new recipes (the only fly in the ointment being that they forgot to invite Ada...).

Chris and Ada are keeping themselves relatively sane by teaching themselves new skills (programming and baking respectively).

Matthew and Lily took to autonomously woohooing in every room in the house.

And, of course, there’s always fishing to be done.

Lily earned her promotion to Double Diamond Agent. Not the most flattering of screenshots, but she was knackered.

Alas, Matthew awoke in the night to be confronted with an extremely unwelcome and unsettling intruder in their bedroom.

Rest in peace, Lil :(

If there’s a bright side, it’s that there were two empty spots in the household. Reuben rang up a friend of his, Chantel Ojo, and invited her to move in. Chantel’s just into the adult life stage, and is a creative, romantic glutton.

Once she’d had a much needed makeover, Reuben did something he claimed was flirting. It seemed to work, anyway.

They tried for a Gen 7 (:D).

And Reuben popped the question. To his apparent surprise, Chantel agreed to marry him.

So she did :)

Wow, that was quick!  (From an outside perspective, anyway.)  I'm still half-thinking of Matthew as a cute, speccy toddler and now he's immortal.  And what will he do fo the rest of the game, with no Lily around? :(

*blush. blush, blush, blush* Thank you!

He could always flirt with Lily’s ghost. Or fish and train toddlers, because that’s what immortality is all about, apparently ::)

Chantel took a pregnancy test and immediately started a diet of strawberries, strawberries and strawberries, garnished with the finest strawberries.

Since doing nothing but eating fruit would get boring, Natalie took Chantel off to fish. She’s one of us now!

You’ll have to take my word for it, but this is a picture of Reuben maxing the guitar skill.

Chantel’s pregnancy seemed to fly by (must’ve been all that exciting fishing she was doing), and pretty soon, baby Katie joined the family.

Reuben had his next birthday and became a full adult.

And Katie aged up to a toddler with an awful lot of hair.

This is the bit where I pretend the collage below advances the story, but really it’s just an excuse to show you cute toddler spam.

Reuben reached the top of the Painter career and became Master of the Real. No doubt you can feel his excitement just looking at his expression...

And Katie maxed out all her toddler skills just in time for her birthday.

She become Cheerful, and began working on Artistic Prodigy.

Reuben threw an extremely classy dinner party, in which the Johnsons stood around and chatted exactly as they normally do, only with cake.

Exhausted by all that socialising, Reuben and Chantel escaped to a coffee shop for a date, leaving his elderly relatives to clean up all the dirty plates.

This might look like another picture of Katie doing Artistic Prodigy, but she’s actually graduated to the adult violin skill now. I knew Ada’s violin-mentoring-ability would come in handy one day.

And while other people are raising his daughter for him, Reuben is spamming paintings for the museum, because his elder birthday is in less than a week. They grow up so fast....

I feel bad about those dirty dishes in front of your house.
No worries, though. The time it would take you to find a mod to get rid of them and ask the Challenges team for permission to use it, you would be finished with your immortal dynasty, haha. (meant as a sort of compliment...)

Katie is a little cutie, both as a toddler and a child.
And congrats to Matthew for maxing his career. Just one more sim-week way from gaining immortality! *reels from the dizzying speed

I really appreciate your showing us how a speed run can be accomplished. :D

Holy smokes! You really are flying through this! Good for you! Mine has slowed to a snail crawl and I'm very very impressed with the pace you're keeping up.
So many congratulations in order! Congrats to Matthew on immortality! Congrats to Reuben on finding and marrying Chantel, having a baby and maxing his career! Congrats to Katie on being just super adorable and top-notch to boot!
Had to chuckle about the dinner party where the Johnsons stood around chatting like every day. It's nice that they all still get along so well.
Reuben's looking like he's right on track for his elder birthday, so I'll cross my fingers that I'll have more congratulations to give out next chapter. Way to go, Johnsons!

Those dishes were driving me crazy, but they’ve been there for so long I’ve sort of got used to them. Given that the first pile is about as old as Chris, though, they’ve got to be pretty gross  ???

Holy smokes! You really are flying through this! Good for you! Mine has slowed to a snail crawl and I'm very very impressed with the pace you're keeping up.

Both Matthew and Reuben were mostly done with their requirements pretty young, so I've been playing on speed 3 a fair bit the last two generations. Especially the horrible bit where I was basically waiting for poor Lily to die so that Katie could have her spot in the household.

You can't get classier than that ;D.

I suppose they could have worn pyjamas?

Katie maxed out the violin skill (with a lot of help from Ada) and switched over to singing. None of her relatives are qualified to help out with that one, but Christopher decided to try to help anyway.

Reuben did the friend-making thing, via the usual cloudgaze spam.

The elders sat down for a nice family meal, rather than the usual scramble where Ada churns out ambrosia all afternoon and they get transferred into people’s inventories to be gobbled immediately before their age bars start bubbling.

Chantel joined them in their old age, if not the ambrosia-consumption.

Katie finished up the singing skill and started on piano. I can't decide whether Top-Notch Toddler is awesome or way too overpowered.

Reuben had his elder birthday.

And Katie blew out her own candles immediately afterwards. She seemed rather pleased with herself.

She’s become a creative muser, and is going to attempt Renaissance Sim and Party Animal. Work hard, play hard, and all that.

Reuben put his best paintings into the museum. They’re a bit on the repetitive side, but are supposedly all deeply original masterpieces anyway.

With that done, he had his first plateful of ambrosia, and toasted his own achievements. Bless :)

And Katie’s life developed a definite pattern. She skills...

...and skills....

Gets the occasional break for homework...

Throws the odd party...

And then skills some more.

Still, there’s an eternity of fishing ahead of her, so there’s always that to look forward to!
