Autonomy Question
« on: November 23, 2016, 04:46:21 PM »
Right now, my TS4 Sims are dropping queue constantly.  So, I'm taking @MrsFlynn's suggestion to try turning autonomy off.

1. If autonomy is off, do your Sims still have the same personalities and skill levels --- or are they less fun characters?

2.  Is the only difference that you, as the player, have to direct them to do every action or they just stand around and do nothing ---- if not directed.  For example, would they go to school or work --- or even have a conversation with each other?

1. Yes, the sims personalities i.e. traits are the same and skills remain the same as well. Technically they are exactly the same. The difference is they will not just go off and do actions like watching TV or start a painting etc etc.

2. I've never played with autonomy off for long enough to know about work and school etc but just watch your sims around that time and direct them to go if they don't do it automatically.

As I understand it autonomy off mean sims will do things so they do not die, i.e. feed themselves so they do not starve etc but they won't initiate any actions.

Thanks for your explanation, @Playalot.  I will be sure that they go to work and school.

Yea i'm considering trying the game with autonomy off since it kind of drives me nuts sometimes my sims like to obsessively do things on their own. Esp playing the gamepad. But I understand they have to key autonomy to something so the sims show preference to something they are good at or enjoy as opposed to just random strange actions. I already had to remove the telescope from my lot though and I want to try not having to remove anything else. So I may try out the game with autonomy off for a bit.

@Rangervegas --- That seems like a good experiment.  I have 2 big storage rooms in my main Sims' first basement, so I can store stuff there that they either use too much or only need occasionally --- although you can't do that with telescopes --- unless you have a flat roof and block it off or put a door at the top of a staircase, and lock it for everyone :-X!

LOL I'm too lazy to build on a big basement like that. I just toss it all in my household inventory.....best part of that is EVERYTHING fits in there....:D

Wow --- That's a good idea, too.  Don't you get charged for it when your Sims get bills every Monday or lag?  It is easier than building a basement :).

I never thought of it honestly. I'm pretty sure when I moved from a smaller house to the slightly bigger one I am in now my bills went DOWN alot so apparently I was only being charged for what was placed on my lot. My bills went up quite a bit when I put some of the new aquariums on my lot to hold fish in for cooking and using as fertilizer but I recently found Growfruit somewhere in the Outdoor Retreat area and i've been told that works pretty awsome as fertilizer along with the fertilizer herbal thing you can cook up but since that will take some herbalist levels to get to and requires other ingredients I think i'll stick with the Growfruit for now.

Growfruit is supposed to be great fertilizer!  My Sims used to garden before I got any packs.  They travel too much to do any gardening, now.  However, after Jasmine Holiday passed out that great fertilizer, a patch enabled growfruit to be amazing fertilizer.  You also need to get the fertilizer recipe from the Hermit by becoming good friends with him or her before you may gather the ingredients.

@Rangervegas The walking stick shows up in two locations. Behind the hermit's herb garden (not the garden by the house, the big garden). Facing in from the entrance to the garden, the spot is roughly northwest. They come out around 7AM. I usually have my Sim camp out there and wait. The other place is near the fishing spot in the Deep Woods. If you are facing the waterfall, the spot is just east. If you have found jewel beetles, the walking sticks come from the same spawner.

@reggikko
That is incredibly helpful information! The only time my sims have ever had a Walking Stick in the collection, a klepto sim swiped one from the National Park's Ranger Station.
Now they might have a legit chance of obtaining one. Thanks so much!

Glad to help @oshizu. My casual game Sims spend a lot of time gardening, fishing, and collecting. They almost never have jobs and I love the challenge of completing collections.

Ok cool yea I know the spot you are talking about in the Hermit area, I think I got some special butterflies there before. And the one in the Deep woods I'm pretty sure that's the place I got my only jeweled beetles at so i'll start looking there. Thanks.

The Deep Woods is the Hermit's place. The Blue Morpho Butterflies spawn at the entrance to the herb garden and another spot near the waterfall but that's a different spawner than the one for jewel beetles/walking sticks. If you do a Google search for Sims 4 insects map and look at the first two images that come up, you'll see exactly where they are. I would link to it, but I think direct links have to be to approved sites and I don't want to break any rules. :)
