Oh, put me in Sims 2 and I'm in my element for taking screenshots. Group shots, action shots, you name it. There was this mod I had - a clock of some sort - that allowed you to 'freeze' sims mid-action. So you get the sim in the exact position/reaction you want, freeze them, and then use moveobjects to put them where you want. You could even use move_objects to place certain small items in their hands, like an umbrella or a coffee cup. Then there was another mod I had, "Look at me NOW" or something, that basically meant you positioned your camera in the direction you wanted the sim to look, and then commanded them to look at you. Freeze, move view, and you've got your pose completely set-up.
I was 'filming' some screen shots in TS4, and I think I did alright, but I really missed some of these features.
(Actually, one thing I really wanted was the ability to 'nerf' certain moodlets. I wanted my sims to be angry or tense so I could get those facial expressions, but as soon as I max their needs (so they're not hungry or running off to pee while I'm getting the shots I need) and put them in a well-decorated room, the angry moodlet gets overrided by the happy moodlets).
I also learned that turning autonomy off is nearly mandatory for 'filming sessions'.
But back to the original topic, MOO is useful for decorating and some such. I like that you can shift items up and down, and then use 'alt' to make a really cluttered dresser or side-table. Just make sure you don't do that with items sims can actually interact with, or you'll get jankiness.
