I was thinking about starting a dynasty challenge of some kind after the first challenge in January.

How do your Sims paint other Sims?  Is there a social, and under which type of social is it --- or is there a different method to paint Sims?  Thanks a lot :)!

You can paint another Sim with the "paint by reference" action on the easel. Your Sim gets that at level 3 of the painting skill.

No. The time will come when you will probably run out of the original families. Each new heir marries someone who is living in a house in town, similarly to the TS3 Townie Decadynasty Challenge.

Does gourmet cooking count for points or does it fall under the cooking non point umbrella?

Gourmet cooking counts and so does baking.

So I'm easily confused!
When your heir turns into a YA-- and the founder doesn't have 50pts is that how your fail?

Welcome to the forum, Windsy! No you won't fail if your heir becomes a YA before the founder gets 50 pts. Theoretically, you have until the heir becomes an elder if female or until just before the heir dies. In that case, though, you might have a hard time getting to 50 pts for the next generation.

Thank you!

So that means in the 10 days, you don't have have your heir? That would make it easier haha or that you switch back and forth between the founder and heir once the heir turns into a YA?

The ten days start counting as soon as your heir becomes the controlled Sim and is also a YA. In other words, if your heir becomes the controlled Sim while still a teen, the ten days don't start until he becomes a YA. If he becomes a YA before becoming the controlled Sim, they start when the previous heir has achieved 50 pts.

Oh good, thanks.  That seems like it won't take to long to accomplish.  I never knew that paint by reference could paint a Sim whom your Sim knows.

Lol I use the "paint by reference" a lot. And, another little hint, if you line up a mirror and the easel "just so" you can actually have your sim paint themselves, as long as you don't require a full front face image!

Another clarification-- the founder or heir must have adopted/conceived the next heir within those first 10 days.

One part of the rules makes it sound like you do.. but another part makes it sound like you can do so after the 10 days!

Not sure where you get the impression the next heir can make an appearance after the first 10 days. In any case, you have to have an infant heir in the house within the first 10 days.
