Missing Sim Child
« on: November 06, 2016, 01:13:35 AM »
One of my City Living main family's children is missing.  She walked into her family's penthouse with her parents and sister.  Then, they all went to a festival in the fashion district, and after her dad was done messing up eating with chopsticks, she was gone.

However, I can see her school information, as well as her needs, etc.  She finished her homework, but did not come home at bedtime.  She canceled any action that she or I had on her queue.

I even clicked on her picture at the bottom left, and she was selected, but was nowhere to be seen when I clicked on her.

Also, 2 adult Sims in a neighboring apartment building dislike the child, and I don't know why because I can't find her.

Is this a bug, or is it just weird?

Wow. That is strange. Have you tried resetsim? I had an invisible child a couple of times that was fixed by going into CAS by planning outfits at a dresser. Your issue sounds a bit different, but that might be worth trying, too.

I hope she turns up!

Hello,
Last night i moved my family to the city in a penthouse and th eBay never appear but I was able to eat him cry I located the sound in a lower level apartment or an elevator the baby was stocked there. At that place, from outside when I clicked it was the elevator. Tu only way to get the baby before it would be removed from my family care was to send him in another family. In the other family it was fine the baby was there. When I tried to send him back in the family penthouse, I lost him again, so tonight I will try to move the family somewhere else. I think it's a bug from that penthouse

I had a possibly related bug. When my couple traveled back to their apartment, the male sim ended up in an empty apartment and couldn't leave for work.
I think I solved the issue by having him travel to a karaoke bar, then leaving for work from there.

Of course, this won't work for a baby. (Unless you aged up the baby using the bassinet then had the child travel...)

@Sylvie8701  a lot of people have been reporting babies spawning outside the apartment boundaries, especially new babies being born or brought home from hospital. Someone even had a picture of a baby in the elevator room so they couldn't get their other sims to the baby at all!
No solution at the moment but to age the baby up, or to move I guess.

I'm about to move a household with baby to San Myshuno. What about putting a bassinet in the apartment you want to move into before moving the household? Does anyone know if that would prevent the spawning outside of the lot problem?

I don't know but that is a very good idea, hopefully the baby will spawn in the placed bassinet!

Thanks everyone for helping.  I will look into it tomorrow.  I will reset sim, and try all the other suggestions, as well.

Ok, my family with baby just moved to San Myshuno with no issues. I put a bassinet in the apartment before moving the household. This technique might work for new babies too. Place bassinet(s) in your apartment before going to hospital/having baby at home. I will let you know tonight (the mother of this family is expecting).

Thanks everyone for helping.

@FrancescaFiori --- I will resetsim and go into CAS and plan outfits at a dresser.

@oshizu --- I will have the child travel.

I didn't know there was a problem with disappearing babies.  I made all 4 of my Sims in CAS --- 2 young adults and 2 children.

@Sylvie8701 --- Is the penthouse to which you are referring 1 Torendi Tower Penthouse, in the fashion District?  That's where my city family with the missing child currently lives.

If the bug is really bad, and none of the suggestions from everyone in this post work (I'm going to try to fix it in a few minutes), then, I was going to move them to the Spire Apartments in Uptown.  Since it's smaller, I was going to move all the stuff that doesn't fit to Newcrest (and save it as rooms in my library first.

Are there any known bugs for 888 Spire Apartments in Uptown?

I'm done remodeling the entire city  8) --- except if I have to move my Sim family.

Thanks so much, everyone!

I tried everything that everyone in this thread suggested.  Every time, I clicked on the missing Sim child, the game brought me to the smallest balcony at ! Torendi Tower Penthouse.  After a few tries, the best I could get was having the game bring me to the elevator door.  Therefore, I think she was stuck in the elevator.

However, that building doesn't have any other families with whom I could place her temporarily --- as was suggested in this thread for babies.  I could try that if anyone in my Sim family disappears again.

After trying to remedy the situation, I deleted both children and created 2 new children with the same appearance and traits in CAS.  So far, they have not disappeared, but if occurs more often, then, I will have to move the family --- after I try to fix things, again.

I've been playing in the penthouse in the Arts District and am kin of experiencing something similar. My sims will often decide autonomously to go down to the open area where the vendors are but on the way down if I track them with my camera they get stuck halfway between the penthouse and the ground. So far by clicking on an item in the penthouse brings them back into view but a few times this was by rising out of the floor!  :o

I think it is a good idea to save-as often with City Living if you are playing an important game as there are a few things that need a bit of tweaking I think!

SimGuruNick has stated @coolsim9999999  that they are aware of the bugs around children/babies and apartments so that is good.

@lesleyj42  your work-around of pre-placing a bassinet is exactly what SimGuruNick is suggesting, so good job!  ;)

@Playalot I'm glad there seems to be a work-around for now. No one wants to bring a nooboo into their Sim family just to have him/her get stuck in the elevator shaft.

Hopefully, another patch is released sometime soon to fix at least some of the glitches that the new expansion/latest patch have caused.
