Food spoiling

My food is fine when in the fridge but when My sim takes it out to eat it it spoils instantly. I put in a mod to make my sims eat slower and they do,  and also to make them eat more than one mea before filling hunger( I like cooking and I need to to increase skill so they need to eat more)but anyone else encounter this? How do you make your sims eat slower and get hunger bar to increase slower.
