death is impossible?
« on: November 04, 2016, 12:50:03 AM »
so i'm trying to kill my roomie, u know, the usual. this time it's because i'm trying to finish the GC aspiration and i need the reaper to come so i can talk about these freakin sandwiches. but death seems to have LITERALLY become impossible? the sim was on fire, with the "i am on fire" moodlet, for a few hours, and then they just went out. i've starved them down past ravenous TWICE (four days ugh) but when they reach the end a "hunger failure" action pops up that i can't cancel, and the sim pulls out some small rectangle from nowhere and devours it and the hunger is fixed. i moved on to cow plant, but when i clicked on the plant while the sim had the "drained" moodlet, eat cake was not an option. yes the cake was there, and other sims could eat it, but not the drained one.
death is definitely not toggled off, i double checked. PLEASE good grief someone please help me! ^^' sim death should not be this hard.

There is another way to get Grim to visit that doesn't involve killing off your roomie but it takes some patience. Try befriending some elders and invite them around regulary and you may witness death by old age. I did this several times for the 'Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen' challenge ages ago (Which I never finished btw) and saw at least two deaths this way. Also, I have heard that Elders can die from too much whoohoo, if you want to go that route. ;)

Killing off your sim is definitely possible. I wonder why it's not working for you.  Very weird about the cowplant?

Drowning is relatively easy. It's fastest if your sim's energy bar is low first. Make a small pool, have your sim get in, then fence the pool in so the sim can't get out.
Of course, you don't need to wait until your sim is exhausted before entering the pool, but drowning only follows exhaustion (depleted Energy bar).
Good luck!

i'll try both of these suggestions, thanks! but tbh i don't really expect it to work after the cowplant weirdness. the only new things that have occurred to me are that the sims are in an apartment, so maybe?? the reaper is having glitches re: apts? and also the sim i'm trying to kill is insane. i've never actually played an insane trait before so idk if that's related somehow.

any more suggestions are muchly appreciated~

@pinkfunky

Your sim has had some really weird escapes from death. Is it possible to add "Cursed lot" to your apartment's lot traits?
Since you live in an apartment, I guess the pool route isn't really an option. Also, when a townie sim died in Myshuno Meadows, Grim took 2 sim-hours to arrive.

When one of my sims had the GC aspiration, I had a roommate woohoo an elder twice and she (the elder) died from over-exertion. So that definitely worked for me.
A sim can also be invited over, then locked them in a room until he starves to death. Be careful not to plan outfits or the supposed-to-starve sim's need will refill.

Before you try anything else, you might try the following steps:
1) Delete your cache files as explained here: http://sims4.crinrict.com/en/2014/09/delete-cache-files/
2) Repair your game as explained here: http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=21899.msg401672#msg401672
3) If you are using any mods or cc, remove them.
4) Restart your game and try the cowplant death again, since it's easiest and fastest.

If the above process doesn't help, I'm out of suggestions. The problem, imho, seems not so much how to cause death but how to fix your bugged file.
@Playalot can give you better advice.

Good luck!

lol @Nindigo   ;D

@pinkfunky oshizu has given you great advice. If you are using mods that could be preventing death. Apart from that death is pretty tricky in many circumstances in TS4. Drowning is totally the easiest way but apparently if you set fireworks off in an apartment that 100% causes fire so maybe try death by fire through fireworks?

But I feel your pain I was doing a Black Widow story and setting up the deaths in my test file was an exercise in pure frustration. Just to add to the elder woohoo death by over exertion ... if the elder has a high level of fitness it won't work. They just get a negative moodlet and then bounce right back. Super annoying. lol

The mention of the starving sim saving them self is interesting as that is what pregnant sims do, magic a little bit of life-saving food from their pockets.

My sim lives in an apartment with the cursed trait so I'll pop in game and try to kill him and see what happens.

thank you everybody! i didn't get a chance to play last night like i wanted but as soon as i do, i'll try all this! i did forget that i have some mods turned on, so i'll nix those (even though it's only a couple hairstyles and shirts, idk how those would prevent death?? that'd be pretty fancy fashion lol). and i DO actually have a pool, since i got one of the fancy places, so i'll try that too. i may also just create an elder sim and let them hang around the house and paint or something until they (HOPEFULLY) die of old age, so i don't have to keep an eye on some jerk who's on fire for 3 hours in my sim's apartment ^^'

ALL OF THIS just because i really want to paint grilled cheese pics! lmao. thanks again everyone, i'll keep you posted.

I've had a Sim die from exhaustion, due to woohooing 3 times in a row (young adult.)  An elder could die from one time if they're energy were low enough.

@coolsim9999999  :o A YA die from over exertion! Wow, that's a first!

Anyway, my sim could die just fine in an apartment with the cursed trait. And by 'just fine' I mean after hours of wrangling and nearly rage-quitting a few times.  :P

Yeah, I know.  That YA died after 3 consecutive woohoos --- I didn't know they could woohoo too much if they were young.

The cursed trait seems interesting.  I've never seen a Sim in an actual rage.   ;D.

@coolsim9999999

In the post by @Playalot I assume she's referring to her own enraged quitting her game because her sim wouldn't die quickly enough.
On another note, a sim can die of anger. You might check out Carl's guide on death types.

Oh yes, totally.. was meaning my rage-quitting! But as an aside sims can become enraged and then die of a Cardiac Explosion click  :)
