Map buttons disappeared

In my sims 3 game when I go into map mode while one of my sims is selected there aren't any map buttons to select lots. when I select another sim they're there. I've changed my active household, evicted my family and put them back in and restarted my game. It keeps coming back. Its annoying to have to zoom in to select lots.

If memory serves correct the last time this happened to me in my game, I used MasterController to Reset Town.

Nraas MasterController: From City Hall > Nraas > M.C. > Town > Reset Everything.
