Paparazzi in the Chess Circuit

Maybe because the game already selected your next opponent, the one back at your sim's normal home? Perhaps that one has to die or be beaten for the game to choose the next one.

Edited to note: still didn't work.  I tried at the academy and the scholar's garden, but in both cases the option was greyed out.  Perhaps this is something they 'fixed' with Late Night?  Or do I just have a glitched game?

Last time I tried this was after the most recent patch and I still had Late Night installed at the time, so I don't think LN could be causing your problem.  The only thing I can think of - other than a glitch in your game - is what sdinger70 suggested:  do you have an undefeated opponent at home?

What I did is I had my chess player start a party and invite JUST the paparazzi person so she can't be distracted by anyone else.  She's showed up to all parties so far in the past.  I couldn't get her to come to places up town for more than 2 seconds and could NEVER get her to come to my house.  Inviting her as the soul guest for the party worked.  I hope this works for you as well!  Good luck Chess players!
