Chemistry table outfit glitch?

Hello.

I'm having a strange issue with the Catalyst Chemistry Lab Station from the Generations expansion pack. It seems every time my sim uses the chem table, it clones a set of his career outfit. He now has 14 pairs of work clothes that are pretty much just duplicates of each other. I thought this would be a minor hassle and could just delete the extra sets...except, I can't. When I click on the wardrobe to "plan outfit" I do have the option to delete the extra outfits, but when I go back into the game, all the outfits are still there.

He is level 10 in the science career, which I hope isn't contributing to the problem.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and possibly know a fix?

Have you tried the usual things of cleaning your caches, restarting the game, restarting your computer and so forth to see if that makes a difference for you?

Yup, I've tried clearing cache and restarting both the game and my laptop, as well as reseting my sim and the entire lot, but unfortunately no avail.

I too have this problem regularly.  It always happens to me when my Sim has discovered potions on the Chemistry Lab Station.  The only thing that has worked is to delete the extra career outfits with the "plan outfit' option.  Click on Career outfit 3.  I find that it takes ages but you have to wait for each outfit to load fully (the asterisk button is on not shaded out) then delete Outfit 3 and Career Outfit 2 will load.  Once you've deleted this, Career Outfit 1 (which is unchangeable) appears.  Normally Career Outfit 1 should be the usual one, but lately there's been some really weird career outfits even for Sims like chefs.  Anyway continue to load career outfit 3 and work back to career outfit 1n until there is only Career Outfit 1 left on the plan outfit tab.  I've had some Sims that have had more than 20 Career Outfits to delete but only 10 shows up in normal "change outfit" option.

If there's a quick fix other than doing it this way, I really want to know it!

Thanks for the advise. I went back to the game right away and tried going to the dresser again...and this time, deleting all the career outfits as you mentioned. In wardrobe mode, it shows the outfits as deleted, with my sim having nothing but his first career outfit. However, the minute I return back to the game, all the outfits are still there!

I guess I may have another glitch on top of the chem table problem. But I really appreciate the suggestion.

Could custom content be causing the glitched glitch?

The only add on I have is the master controller mod. Unfortunately my current game is unplayable without it, as I have yet another glitch where the town has no icons/markers. Using that mod to reset my lot has been the only fix to that problem so far, so I strongly prefer not to remove it if I don't have to.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping the problem solved itself actually. My sim ended up having an opportunity where he needed to travel to the future. He doesn't have a career in the future and therefore, no career outfits either! I'll see what happens when he returns back to the past, but it seems I won't have the extra outfits, as long as he doesn't have a career. If worse comes to worse, my sim can just have an "early retirement" and exploit the family plumbots to bring in income.

If you install Traveler, your sim will have in the future the same career as in the present, but you must place the corresponding rabbithole to enable the career if your sim works in one. If you keep "treat as vacation" enabled, your sim can miss work without any bad consequences.
