Two questions about the Imaginary Friend
« on: October 18, 2016, 02:53:58 AM »
Question 1: When my personal Sim was a toddler I had her play with her doll, which I named Tyler, after my own imaginary friend in real life. She definitely got to the "it seems she's taken quite the liking to him" stage but I cannot say with 100% certainty whether the toy became special to her while she was still a toddler. So now she's a child, she plays with Tyler nonstop if she's not doing her schoolwork (I have the homeschooling mod). Three times I've gotten the message telling me to put the doll down. I did, and each time nothing happened, except on one occasion it teleported itself to another area of the house. Do I need to go back to a save where she's not even born yet (groan, tons of progress lost!) or is it still possible to continue and have the doll eventually transform into an actual IF (ie, a friend of hers that only she can see)?

Question 2: If you have a Sim in the Daycare career can a toddler under their care autonomously decide to play with their doll? I haven't actually seen this, but I figure I just need to get a toddler who really loves their doll and maybe I'll see it happen...

I don't know if I'm understanding the question well enough. It sounds as though the doll didn't grow up with the child? The IF has to be out of the child's inventory to grow up to child stage.

I'm not sure about question 2. As I've never tried the daycare career.

Here's a thread about Imaginary Friends:

As for the first question, thank you for at least confirming that the doll does need to be taken out of the inventory to age up with the child. But it looks like I will indeed have to start over in regard to my personal Sim's entire life to do it right...

One of my Sims has the Daycare career and the Toddlers play with her Daughter's IF doll so I moved it to the second floor where they couldn't get to it. They'd crawl across the entire house to play with it and it was really annoying.
