Strange Sim Behavior since the latest patch
« on: October 17, 2016, 12:11:17 PM »
1. Sims getting into the tub to drink a potion. This happened every once in a while in the past, but seems more frequent now. I also had a party guest take a drink, enter a bathroom that was occupied, and get into the tub. They got right back out again, but of course everyone was embarrassed already.

2. When I have a Sim send an item to the Geo Council, rather than just standing where they are as they used to, they go and sit down first--similar to the way they sit when they put books away. In fact, there seems to be more of Sims hiking across the lot to do stuff in general.

I'm thinking the second point may have to do with upcoming apartments and Sims having to be "at home" when they send stuff off.

Neither of these is a game breaker, just annoying. I've also noticed that the time between when I direct a Sim to do something and when they start to do it is slower in many cases. There is a definite lag. I'm not sure if this is just me.

It's not just you. I'm getting very annoyed with my Sims' insistence on sitting down somewhere (chair, bathtub, hot tub) before doing what I ask them to do. Some simple activities take forever!
Your theory about apartments is very interesting. I wonder if that's it!

I ended up placing a bench near the leave-for-work point, otherwise my sims would spoil their lovely perfect-for-work mood by going to sit in the Focused Room to drink a potion.
Now their action queue is: Sit, drink potion, sit, drink potion, sit, meditate

I'll delete actions as needed but I'm less frequently watching my sims spending 30 minutes to walk to the back of the house after their pre-work massage.
On another note, I'd noticed that even before the patch, my sims and their maids always sit down to pick up each dirty dish while cleaning up. Just pick up the plate already!

I'm not sure if the lag in your action queue is patch-related. In a multi-generation game, I start seeing the lag after the household has begun to hoard too much.
This is no doubt old news to you, but streamlining personal and household inventories does wonders for lag. My tournament files are never laggy.
Or did you never experience lag until post-patch?

I try to keep stuff to a minimum, but I did clear out some inventory. What I'm seeing is a different kind of lag. The other Sims don't freeze up or anything, but it will take several seconds for an action on the selected Sim to drop into place in the queue, if that makes any sense.

The bench is a great idea! Benches for everybody!

As @Playalot pointed out on a lag-related thread, that freezing of the action queue seems to happen whenever one of the sims on the lot is transitioning to a different mood.
With my selected sim, I am constantly pressing PAUSE in order to wait until the next action drops.

Do the things you described in your first post happen in new game files? That would be really unfortunate.
I am jinxing myself right now to say that I've only experienced when I'm 3-4 generations into a long game file.

Also, what do you mean (in reference to City Living) by "sims having to be 'at home' when they send stuff'? is that different from sending stuff to Geo Council?

Hi guys, this is part of the on-going struggle with fine tuning the animations etc on the game eh. I usually do a repair game and delete the localthumbcache.package file which tends to clear things up for a while. I also do as much of the clean up etc (like dragging books away, plates to the dishwasher etc) as I can to avoid the whole 'sitting down thing'.

Eventually the devs seem to get around to giving us a fix for one/all/some of these annoyances... only for them to pop back up after a new patch/addition to the game. *sigh*

If you do a search on the EA The sims 4 bug reports there are various reports on these kinds of delays but no report really encompasses them all.

I'm getting that annoying bug where that if Sims were sitting down when I saved the game, upon loading they will be standing around doing nothing. This is an old bug that I haven't had in ages and am wondering why it's coming back now. Nothing major or anything but it is kind of annoying, is there anything I can do to get the game to load with the Sims doing what they were when I left them?

I mean if they live in an apartment the complex may not count as their lot, only the apartment would. For example, if your Sim is in the neighborhood, but not on their home lot, they can't send to the Geo Council. They have to return to the lot first. I'm thinking that it may be that, on an apartment lot, they'll have to be inside their own apartments in order for the game to register that they are at home and allow at-home only actions like sending to the Geo Council.

@Rainbow Dash  nothing you can do except maybe do a Repair Game but things like that generally need a devs fix. Having many items in a sim personal inventory can cause weird issues so many check through those but other than that in a vanilla game there isn't much else we can do. I hesitate to suggest a uninstall/reinstall as it is so time consuming and although it certainly can make a difference it is a bit of an over-kill just for what you are describing.  :)

I have also noticed a lot of sitting down before doing things.

The oddest lag I have see is at the end of Woo Hoo in the bed, sparks fly then normally the Sims reappear from under the bed clothes except sometimes they don't and the stay under the bed clothes for sometimes as much as a Sim hour or two.  This has definitely only happened to me since the latest patch (along with a whole host of object issues - separate post on that!)
