The Miskin Legacy - From Misery to Merit? (COMPLETED 10/05/18)
« on: October 12, 2016, 03:07:06 PM »
This is my first ever attempt at a legacy!

Born into nobility, Myron has always lived in the shadow of his older brother, Lord Mostyn. When Mostyn passes away, it makes Myron realise that life is short... and unlike his sibling, he has no legacy to leave behind.

Desperate to escape the gloom, Myron decides to make a new life for himself, and build a legacy that will be passed from generation to generation. As the decades pass, he and his descendants - working in various professions such as art, comedy and many more - will experience love, loss, victory and tragedy... as well as extra-terrestrial encounters, vampires, and experiences on both sides of the law.

Gender Law: Patriarchy (relaxed)

Oooh, a historical game! Looks wonderful so far. (One of my favourite TS2 stories from...oh, 6 or 7 years ago now! was Dicreasy's Victorian Legacy. This certainly reminded me of her humble beginnings).

Are you playing this as a challenge, or just for the storytelling opportunities that come with a legacy's multi-generational play? I can't say I've seen Katrina Caliente used as a spouse very often (Nina or, more often, Dina, many times). The children are gorgeous. I did feel for Juliet, but unfortunately for her, such was the way for girls in this time period.

Great start! I'm glad you're enjoying playing a legacy because I am really enjoying reading it. I love the backstory, and I love how interesting and gothic Myron's appearance is! Glad both kids got red hair. Perfect!

@Whirligig Many thanks for the feedback! I suppose the Miskins are Pseudo-Victorian more than anything. They live in modern times and have adapted to the 21st Century in some ways (hence Myron getting texts and using computers at the library), but retain more traditional family values and an elegant Victorian style. These values work well with the patriarchy law I've chosen for the legacy.

In regards to Katrina as a spouse, I had no idea who she was! I'd assumed she was a descendant of Nina and Dina... got the shock of my life when I found out otherwise!

I'm sort of half-playing it as a challenge, but primarily as a story. I'm more used to non-legacy stories (as in my other work Michael Lee Harker, Intergalactic Sim of Mystery.) I have had to use the Max Needs cheat once (ONLY ONCE!) to basically avoid a total Game Over! I may bend the rules and redesign Lady Amelia's clan, as they have lost their style through the aging process. (Titus with sunglasses - no thanks!). I may also write in a special ending for Juliet.

Thanks again!

@FrancescaFiori Many thanks! The Miskins were inspired by the families in the card game Gloom. I also love the works of Charles Addams, Edward Gorey and Tim Burton.

Wow. Juliet aged up beautifully. I love her dress, too.

Very excited to hear about Katrina's juicy past, and how it will affect things going forward!
