Has anyone notice the Food Critic NPC at the restaurants during the Restaurant Wars? I haven't really played much with the restaurants, so I'm not sure whether they were there to start off with or whether they came with the patch

The food critic NPC came with Dine Out. If you have Dine Out, and you get City Living and play a Food Critic, then your Sim will be able to review restaurants that you've placed in the game. If you don't have Dine Out, your Food Critic will be limited to food stalls and maybe bars and cafes; I don't know yet.

Thanks Marian. I was wondering whether we would get some kind of perk to having Dine Out as well as the new EP.

Does everyone here get crinricht's posts in their emails?  She just did an excellent review of the City Living Event which took place in Cologne, Germany.  If you would like I can copy and paste it here.

I don't think I'm more excited about this EP or less excited, (disappointed over no elevators available in Build Mode), but I'm sure excited about all the fun I'll have exploring all the different aspects.  One of the things that amuse me is the mice.  Not so fun in RL but since they are limited to the areas where the mouse holes appear and not the entire apartment they could be kind of cute.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!

8 Things That We’re Extra Hyped for in The Sims 4 City Living

27 OCTOBER 2016

BY SIMGURU PANDA

The Sims™ 4 City Living* is right around the corner, so we wanted to share with you 8 things that we’re super ridiculously excited for! This pack contains some awesome content, with some established favourites and a whole heap of new things for you & your Sim to try, so let’s get started!

1: Apartments!

Big cities mean apartment living and San Myshuno is no exception. With lot traits, landlords and noisy neighbours, your Sim will get the full (un)pleasant experience of what living in a city can really be like.

2: Geekcon.

Festivals are a great new way for your Sim to get out and have some fun, and Geekcon is no exception. Costumes? Gaming competitions? Science?! Sign us up!

3: New furniture & decor!

San Myshuno has a lot of different cultural influences and you’ll see that in build/buy items. We can’t wait to see all your fantastic builds and creations on The Gallery!

4: Basketball Hoop.

The basketball hoop is a great new way for your Sim to get a work out, or if they prefer, to be competitive against other Sims.

5: Social Media Career.

Social Media is a part of pretty much everyone’s lives at this point, so bringing this in with City Living made a lot of sense. Sending your Sim out on assignment is something we think you’re really going to enjoy.

6: Penthouses.

Penthouses are going to be the ultimate dream lot for Sims in San Myshuno, with buckets of space and potential for building your Sims dream space. Plus, the view is pretty great up there!

7: New recipes.

New city, new flavors! San Myshuno brings a bunch of new recipes that your Sim can learn. Get them over to the Spice Festival so they can start tasting and learning!

8: Racoon suit!

You didn’t think we’d leave the raccoon suit out, right? Come on! We can’t wait to see all your screenshots of your Sim wearing this and getting up to all kinds of fun.

So there’s 8 things we’re super hyped for, and now it’s your turn! Head to our interactive map of San Myshuno here to take a look around and start exploring. Then, hit us up on Twitter and let us know what you’re most excited for in The Sims 4 City Living. Don’t forget to use #TS4CityLiving!

Honestly, I'm more excited about having a keyboard (little, presumably cheaper piano) than a raccoon suit for #8, but you do you, SimGuruPanda, you do you.

I'm totally with you on this one, yay for the keyboard!

Personally, I'm more hyped for the Politician career than I am for the Social Media career (tho Social Media looks fun too). Time to get a bisexual female president :P (or whatever the highest position the expansion offers...which is HOPEFULLY president lol)

I probably won't be installing this for a few weeks even if I do get it this week (maybe. for reasons). Those who do get copies of the game and a chance to play around with it sooner: I would be very interested in finding out if it's possible to build your own apartment buildings from the ground up in any neighbourhood, like we could in TS2.

As far as I understand you can't :-( although I hope I'm wrong about this

@Whirligig @MissZoef  you can not build apartments at all in any of the worlds. The apartments function sort of like vertical neighborhoods with a loading screen to visit your neighbors (just like in all the base game worlds). The apartment shell is in a sense hard wired into the world seeing as it is more like a neighborhood than an apartment.

Sorry if that isn't very clear but the base line is... no apartment building.
