I'm pretty excited for this, though it doesn't look like we'll get to build our own apartment buildings? That's what I loved about Apartments in TS2 - you could design the whole thing from the ground up and that seemed to be a little bit less doable in TS3 (though I really didn't play TS3 very much at all so I could be wrong).
You may knock out walls of penthouses and paint/remodel them with stuff --- including pools.  At least, that's part of the upcoming pack!
I did see that, and that looks pretty cool, but that's still just building a single apartment. In TS2, I was able to replicate the townhouses I lived in 4 years ago, the terrace houses that line the inner city streets of my town, and even build the suburban apartment building I live in currently from the ground up. I hope I'm wrong and they just don't consider that a feature worth showcasing here, but it doesn't really look like you can do that in this expansion.

I don't mean to sound like I'm whinging, as it still has lots of other features I'm looking forward to - new careers and skills; here's hoping it comes with more than one new aspiration, too! (Also it's released super-close to my birthday, so it's definitely at the top of my list.)
Hihi, it's close to mine too. Isn't it great?

I know I loved the apartments in TS2 and am excited to explore them all in ts4 now. I don't fancy them much in ts3 though, I think I found them quite a bit boring, that and the fact that if you wanted to move in into an apartment building that someone else lived in, you had to move the other sim out. Much less fun than moving in and knowing the neighbours more and not having to bother with the work of moving people in and out...

I wasn't at all fond of the apartments or the town in TS3.  Too gloomy and with all the negative points already mentioned.  However, I DID love being able to have elevators!  I hope this will be something that will carry through in Build mode for my multi-level houses.  I get so tired of the ugly stairs and the amount of space they take up.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Game On, Inside and Out with Video Games and Basketball in The Sims 4 City Living

11 OCTOBER 20
16BY GRANT RODIEK

We want every The Sims™ 4 expansion to provide new activities for your Sims, and The Sims 4 City Living* Expansion Pack is no exception! We took time at the start to discuss which activities would be ideal for the city streets or cramped apartments, and we arrived at two solutions that we think are perfect for gamer Sims: shooting hoops in the afternoon, then wandering back to your apartment for some video games! Whether your Sim prefers multiplayer or single player games, we’ve got them covered.

Let's start with the basketball hoop, which will get your Sim outside of their apartment and into the street for some fresh city air and athletic activity with friends. When the court is empty, Sims can practice their game by shooting solo, whether it’s 2 pointers, 3 pointers, or even dunks (if they have the skills). Sims in a particular mind-set can even dream big and pretend they’re playing against the stars in the big leagues. If your Sim is out with friends, challenge them to a game of hoops to see who has the best shot on the court. Be sure to wear your new jersey to look the part!

After a game of hoops, and hopefully a quick shower, your Sim can flop onto their couch to play some video games. That's right, we’ve added a video game console! Many of us here on the team have spent time crammed into a tiny apartment playing video games with friends, so this is a story we knew we needed to tell!

Sims can play a series of games, alone or against friends, from some of our favourite genres. Your Sim can enjoy a sci-fi action RPG, a racing game, and even a collection of classic party games. The video game console looks great and is a fantastic new fun object to recharge your Sim after a tough workout, or slog at work. The video game console also supports the Video Gaming Skill, which will really come in handy for Sims participating in GeekCon competitions. But, more on that later!

Whether it’s outside with friends in the warm Spice Market sun, or tucked into a comfy sofa with a bowl of chips and a controller, your Sims have more ways to entertain themselves than ever before in The Sims 4 City Living, coming November 1.

The GeekCon Competitions sounds interesting, can't wait until they release more information about the comps.

It all sounds interesting, with each post I look forward to the pack more and more.

New Careers in The Sims 4 City Living Send You Out on Assignments

13 OCTOBER 2016
BY GRANT RODIEK

In The Sims™4 City Living* Expansion Pack, we didn’t want San Myshuno to just be a place of new activity, but also one of new opportunities for your Sims. After all, how else will your Sims claw their way out of a crummy starter apartment and into that amazing penthouse they've dreamed of owning?

The city of San Myshuno is now hiring for three unique new careers, each with two branches that add even more flavor and excitement: The Politics Career, the Critic Career, and the Social Media Career, and these new careers aren’t like other careers in The Sims 4. These all have new Career Assignments, which allow your Sims to step out of the office and take care of work tasks in the city of San Myshuno itself. Put simply, career assignments add more variety, more challenge, and more stories to The Sims 4 City Living!

Let’s start with the political career, where your Sim starts as an activist and ultimately chooses between becoming a charity organizer for good will and a cause, or a politician for that same cause. Activists need to get the word out and raise awareness. Their career assignments will send them to different venues to stage protests and promote their chosen cause. Higher level politicians can give inspiring speeches at podiums, like the one in scenic Uptown, to win public trust and secure votes. Charity organizers, on the other hand, know that money fuels causes and will need to ask for donations…or bribes, with contacts they’ve built throughout the city.

Perhaps your Sim is more interested in being a Critic? Whether the focus of their criticism is food or art, you’ll send your Sims to festivals throughout the city to sample fine (or not so fine) cuisine or review the local entertainment. If the palette is not your preference, you can send your Sims to canvas the museum to pick apart the fine works there.

Finally, your Sims might wish to become a Social Media maven! This career is all about gaining followers via interactions on your Sims’ computer. Conduct live streams, chats, and more to encourage others to follow your Sim and get your numbers up.

The new careers in The Sims 4 City Living are a great hybrid between traditional careers and active ones. On days when you don’t have time to manage your Sims, you can send them to work with a good mood and completed tasks to ensure a productive day. For those times you’re more interested in carefully managing your Sims’ story, your Sim can work from home. You can also send them on assignment to the streets of San Myshuno, and discover what the city has to offer!

Someone on the official Forum took screenshots of two posters that were career rewards for the two branches of the Social Media career, so we now know all the careers that will be coming with City Living:

Politics -- Charity Organizer and Politician
Critic   -- Food and Art
Social Media -- Internet Personality and Public Relations

So happy that Video game consoles are back! Hopefully, they'll initially be cheaper than computers. I really don't mind if the Gurus bring back things from the previous iterations. I loved those games for a reason and would love to see more of their content with the new mechanics of TS4.

I love this new expansion! and I agree with @Joria and @Magpie2012 I would love to see old content coming back (especially pets/seasons) because that was so awesome. Although I'm also excited about new things, to change things up a little :) I will definately get this one if I have the money for it.

edit: I'm sorry to hear it is not possible to purchase things anymore through this site. I always try to do that when I can. I hope it comes back.

Get Thrifty with the Flea Market in The Sims 4 City Living

18 OCTOBER 2016
BY GRANT RODIEK

Festivals are one of our favorite new attractions in The Sims 4 City Living* Expansion Pack ( coming this November), because they send our diverse city of Sims to the streets to mix, mingle, learn new things, and make new friends!

The Flea Market is the perfect place to find a deal, especially when living in the expensive San Myshuno on a budget! The Flea Market may never have the same things for sale twice, so come early and come often to take advantage of these deals!

You can always toss in a good haggle to try and scratch a few more Simoleons off the price to really leave the Flea Market a winner. Or, trade and swap collectibles, such as the new snow globes with other collectible enthusiasts to find the one missing from your collection. Feeling crafty? Setup your own craft stall to sell paintings, fresh produced you’ve harvested, or whatever you wish to sell.

Not sure when it’s happening? Look for the signs located in the neighborhoods or the bulletin board in your apartment’s common area. See you at the Flea Market!

I wonder if the food critics from City living can also come to your own made resaurants. It would be very cool to have a sim running a restaurant and another coming there to eat and have that sim write a review about that restaurant :D

I love the flea market idea!
One, that female sim with the lavender hair is soooo cute!
Two, I hope they sell the rare MySims trophies so we no longer have to build a rocket just to look for the last four rare ones!

Ooh, it sounds like we can set up our own booths, too!

I've already pre-ordered but now with the flea market idea I can hardly wait!!!  I love flea markets!  Both from the buying and selling point of view, having done both.  I hope we can do our own booths!

Has anyone notice the Food Critic NPC at the restaurants during the Restaurant Wars? I haven't really played much with the restaurants, so I'm not sure whether they were there to start off with or whether they came with the patch
