Why does Maya Ocean and Triton King don't have mermaid tails or scales?

 I really wanted my sim to become a mermaid, so she went to go scuba dive and when she saw Triton King, he had no tail or scales but still swam like a mermaid. It also happened to Maya Ocean. I tried a cheat, but it didn't work. Is there any cheat I can fix this?

I've never played with mermaids, so I had to search on this. This sounds like a common game glitch, but found a couple of suggestions to try:

1. Try taking them to CAS via the mirror and "changing scales color". This has reportedly fixed an issue of the mermaid not swimming.

2. Age them up.

3. There's also a tip that works for some, using Nraas MasterController (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/MasterController)

Bring up the Nraas master controller menu on the effected merperson. Under basic, choose change scale color. Change it if you want to but if not, just click the checkbox. This should return the 'special outfit' to the list of possible outfits. Go back to Nraas MC, Basic, then outfits. Choose the outfit 'Special 1'. This should put their tails on properly. They won't swim correctly right away. They'd have to leave and return to the water. But the tail will be back.
