Earning some money after enrolling university?
« on: August 18, 2016, 06:07:12 AM »
Hi, I saw help guide page to see how the aptitude test works yesterday.

http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/universitylife/enrolling-aptitudetest.php

But I can't find any information about earning money, not the extra fund from Administration building. I asked at the sims forum but a simmer there recommended here to find the answer.  I brought 2 images to here.

My sim got 2,400/2,400 from the aptitude test.

He picked 'Fine Arts' as his major.

And then, 1,700 simoleons were added to his family fund straightaway.  I'd like to know why he earned money as soon as he hung up the phone of requesting enroll university, and it is related with the result of aptitude test or not? Would you help this please? Thanks for reading. :)

Sims who take the aptitude test and get high scores will receive scholarship money. I'm guessing that the higher the score, the higher amount of scholarship money there can be. This money can help pay for classes, rent and other costs that come from going to university.

It sounds like what goes into creating the score is the Sim's skill sets, career level and traits.

So basically, the Sim must have had some pretty high skill sets and/or career level and traits to be able to get a high test score.

Hmm..I think I misunderstand the scholarship money. What's exactly scholarship money? My sim earns some money before leaving Home world, then he arrives at the university world. As soon as he arrives there, he just go to the administration building for getting extra fund, and earns 2,500 simoleons on Sunday. And the next day, after whole class, he can get more extra fund from administration building as much as he raised his study records. For example, on Monday, he usually get around 3,000 simoleons, and earns around 4,000 simoleons on Wednesday, then he gets 5,000 simoleons on Friday after taking exams. So I'm confused which one is the scholarship money. The money as soon as he hung up the phone for enrolling university at home world or the one he earns from Administration biuilding?

If I understand what is the scholarship money, then I might be able to solve my issue. :)

A scholarship is an award of financial aid for a student to further their education.

I'm thinking the scholarship money is the first sum of money the Sim gets before heading off to the University. Then the money they get from the administration office is given to help with the expenses like mentioned above plus adds a little spending money. It's like getting paid to go to the university.

Thank you for the explanation. So my sim got 2,500 simoleons of scholarship, but my sim only got 1,700 simoleons. 2,500-1,700= 800. Now I'm wondering where is the 800 simoleons.  :)

Hmm.. The game monster ate it for a snack? :)

I honestly don't know. Maybe some was taken for the move itself?  I haven't played University for awhile. So I'm not sure why it said they were given a set amount, but not actually given that amount. Other than I like said, maybe moving expenses.
