Is my sim dead or alive?

One of my sims just died and the Grim Reaper came to reap her, leaving a gravestone which is shown in the center of the screenshot.

However, that dead sim's head shot still appears in the bottom right of the screen with the rest of the household.
She also appears in the relationship panel as a living sim, not as a ghost.

Is this a glitch that will resolve itself if I save, quit, and restart?
Or do I need to travel to another lot?
I thought I might save my game to a different slot and try both of the above, but I don't want to force my working sims to leave work early.

*    I had an earlier save which opens in the middle of the night, with no one working. I'll test that file tomorrow.
**  I opened the earlier save and played that; this time, the game worked properly: the dead sim disappeared from the UI and appears as a ghost in relationship panels.
I guess my game just glitched.

Well... that's a new one!  I'd have been quite tempted to play it for a while just to see what happened. Usually saving and quitting sorts out weird glitches like that though.

Lol, looks like you have a 'schrodinger's sim' on your hands there. She is both dead and alive at the same time

To be serious though: sounds like a glitch indeed, I hope it won't casue any problems in your game save.

Well, from what I know, alive TS4 sims can be assigned to gravestones too, and thus it's just an alive sim with a gravestone.
