Architect profession and real estates (empty lots) question

I have never tried the architect profession before, I would like to know will there be projects for the architect to build a house from an empty lot (with budget)? I just want to be an architect to vitalize the sunset valley (build cribs etc.)

If the architect couldn't build a house from an empty lot (with budget) then could I make money with the buying empty lots option? Because I don't think you could make money by building a house on the lot after purchasing the empty lot the selling price would always be lower than the cost (depreciation).

I just want to know how could I make money with the empty lots in the map? Also I wish to know if the architect building discount and the handiness discount stack?

The final goal is trying turn empty residential lots into profit (without cheats/edit town)

No the architect career can't build houses on empty lots. Think of the architect career more as interior decoration, rather than building houses.

There is no way to make money off of the empty lots because the house will depreciate in value as soon as you leave build/buy mode. So even if you use your Sims' money to buy the lot and build a house you wouldn't be able to make back more than you spent.

The discounts can be stacked as they are both separate discounts.

All in all, you can always give your idea a try in a new test game to see what comes of it. Then you'll know for sure what you can/can't do with an architect career.
