I watch that show, too!  It is great to apply it to TS4 :).

I started playing my Rosebud challenge on a tiny lot a while back. Here's the evolutions the house has gone through so far.

The first house I built for her wasn't much and I didn't get a shot of the outside. Suffice to say it was square lol.

After a while she was able to have a real house with distinct rooms.

A marriage and offspring later, the house got revamped for the third time to accommodate the growing family.

And finally where we are now: married, raking in the dough steadily, with a teenager and a child. (The main floor is basically the same, so I just included the second story.)

It will likely go through a couple more versions (which seems counter-intuitive to a Rosebud challenge, but I want my sims to live in a pretty home!). I love working within restrictions like this!

@Heart Foam  and other lovers of tiny-lot builds on this thread

Have any of you completed the Mansion Baron aspiration on one of the 20x15 lots?
Would you be willing to share your screenshots?
I am building frequently for my present challenge but the thought of achieving a high-income household on one of the 20x15 lots terrifies me.
I'm not referring to a starter home--I mean a blinged-out residence with all the skilling areas.
Is that even possible, if the sims go elsewhere for their rocket ship missions and leave the invention constructor in the family imventory unless needed...

I usually don't build at all, so I'm pretty much starving for ideas...

I haven't simmed in a few weeks, and your post has caused me to fire up my game again. One of my ongoing saves was yet another Nookstone house. :) Couldn't resist. And this is the closest to Mansion Baron any small house of mine has got. Realistically, the rocket can only go on the roof. And once I get the alien plants and max rocket science, I put the rocket in the family inventory. As I did for this household. For a brief moment I had a dancefloor on the roof as a skylight, but that seemed inefficient because those cardboard dancefloors can be put down on top anyway.

I took a few screenshots to show you, then changed aspiration to mansion baron. Instead of 30 windows, there are only 29. Easily solved by adding a small round one for the second floor bathroom. It has 12 columns, not 20. And is worth $223,944. It only uses one basement level, so there is room for expansion. There's a basketball court, but no gym. I tend to use slimify and diet icecream to keep the weight off. But when I do build a gym in a 20x15 house, it's a 4x3 room with treadmill and exercise machine. Or... the gym equipment could be put with an indoor pool. But the pool can be a waste of space. I'll probably drastically redesign the basement of this house. I'd say it has most skilling areas. But space is tight, and I never attempt more than 4 sims in the household.

I really like this. I'm studying the floorplan to get fresh ideas. I realize now I could fit a lot more in if I didn't feel the need for a large dining room. Hmm.

Thanks! I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to space and take inspiration from real houses. Not every home has its own separate dining room. So far I have also expanded the kitchen and the dining area now can fit a longer table with 6 chairs. My house expansions are moving along as I get more money, though right now it's pretty much how it's going to stay I think. At least layout-wise ;)

I've really enjoyed studying the interior of the tiny-lot homes on this thread.

@coolsim9999999  I laughed that you gave your jobless sim what resembles the public restrooms from Granite Falls.

@marwolfer           Your Rosebud house is on the same lot that I'm struggling with and I'm impressed that it does look, as you say, like a house that people actually live in.
Because of the challenge, I tend to build for skilling efficiency so I never get that homey feeling your house achieves. And the bedrooms are huge!

@Heart Foam         I'm really in love with your classy builds! I'm also a fan of large dining spaces since meals are usually the only times my sims converge.
You're a master of fitting so much into a small space! I like the more formal living room on the first floor and the casual one downstairs.
The hot tub rooms looks great! (I've been leaving the massage table on the front lawn lately, lol.)

It's only been two sim-days since I started building on the 20x15 Comfy Cubby lot in Newcrest. I might post the currently odd-looking house once I've had more time to work on it. The footprint's fixed but the basement layout and interior decor are not.
Thanks so much for sharing!

They are all sooo .. pretty .. for tiny lots and the amount of things! Now I am getting an itch to start a rosebud try I was thinking about. But then it won't look this nice ...

@oshizu --- It was so small, so I decided to place that bathroom...lol  ;D.  I'm glad you like the house!

I do have bedrooms a bit on the larger size, but they usually double as a study/hobby space. In this house, my master suite also has an art studio and computer/tech space. Upstairs the pink bedroom doubles as a study and (although undone in these images) the blue bedroom has gym equipment. I actually still have the unused loft space for future sims needs. :) Thanks for the feedback on my humble little house! I love to build and actually have more trouble with larger lots lol. @marwolfer
I just want to say that I just spent a delightful time perusing your gallery offerings.
It's so brilliant of you to offer some of your builds both in furnished and unfurnished versions.

So it's been asked before if a 20x15 house can have all skill areas. I've left my Landgraabs for a moment and loaded up one of my small houses on the previous page and got to building because there are always more skills in the game.

So there's a proper music room in the lower basement level, including the organ. Before this the instruments were just loosely gathered on the level above this. You can see that on the previous page of the thread. And bowling. But now the piano and dj booth have moved, there's a space for a kids bedroom perhaps, and there's an unused 4x6 room in the lowest basement too. The rest of the house is unchanged from previous pictures. :)

Great builds everyone.  :)

I seem to specialise in small builds! I love building on 20 x 15 lots, it seems to fire up my creative instincts more because of the challenge of building a family home on such a small lot. Nookstone is a firm favourite of mine too @Heart Foam!

I forgot I built this! It's a Molly's Lodge! It's the smallest listed castle in the UK. Absolutely real building. A friend shared the story when it went on the market, and I had a go at sorta, kinda replicating it. There are of course, no spiral staircases. So no one can reach the 1 bedroom. This is a setback. So this is completely non-functional. It serves no purpose.

This one isn't Nookstone, it's the one down the road. But yes, @Marsh_Mallow it's a great lot. I'm so familiar with Nookstone that most recent house was planned with where the sun rises in mind for the dining room. Some of the other starter houses don't expand so easily in the ways I'd like.

@Heart Foam - how did you do the upper roofs of the castle - they are gorgeous! Are they just a mix of the half walls?
