Why won't my Sim write?

My Sim is a young adult that I started as a teen. My Sim's Aspiration is to be an author. She has the genius and creative trait and my game play is set to disable autonomy on selected Sim. But I can't get her to write! When I click on practice writing or resume her children's book and the icon goes to her list, then disappears. What's going on-M

PS-This even happens when my Sim is Inspired or Very Inspired...

Does she actually sit down in the chair or just not go over there?  Have you made sure to move the desk around or any decor that might be getting in her way?  Does she give you "I can't go there" scream when she tries?  Have you tried replacing anything like chair/desk/computer to see if they are glitched in some way?

Check the desk/computer area very closely.  Recently, I've had sims leaving glasses and plates on the desks where the computer keyboard is.  I think this is a glitch that was "added" in June as I've never seen them do it before.  I had a programmer doing exactly what your writer is and eventually found a water glass sitting in the way.

That was it! Somehow there was a carrot sitting under the computer. Weird!

Dear Publisher,
