Hello, I don't actually have Sims. I'm borrowing it from my friend who is on holiday. I'm definitely getting it for Christmas. If I don't, I'm burning down the house! (Nah, I like my house :) )
I don't have Sims 3 World Adventures either. I understand you can go to I think it's China, Egypt and Paris (correct me if I'm wrong).
I also understand you can learn Photography, Martial Arts and Nectar Making. But I just wanted to know if the expansion pack adds any more furniture or clothes. Also if it added different interactions, Somewhere I read something about snoring...
I only know what I;ve read on the guide and in some of the forum subjects, so tell me what you can about that. Also I wanted to know, when you take photos with the camera do you get to keep and see the photo or is it just a flash or something and you get money? And when you go in pyramids or somewhere, you battle mummies. This sounds funny! Are the mummies scary? What's at the end? Are there multiple Pyramids and journeys?
I have so many questions! Please answer what you can, I'm trying to convince my wife we MUST get Sims AND the expansion pack for Christmas. She says it's for kids... (I'm 22, I'm supposed to play games). I got really angry when she said that. Sims is for everyone and I am going to make her play it so she can understand the brilliantness of Sims.

So answer what you can my Simmy friends! So we can prove my wife wrong! :) :)

DON'T LET YOUR WIFE PLAY IT!!!
I let my mom play it and now she's on the computer almost 24/7 >=[
Lmao.

Anyway, When you take pictures you can hang them on the wall and stuff.
The expansion comes with new hair, objects, and clothing.
There are plenty of adventures that are determined by your sims different skills.
Egypt has 3 pyramids, but in each vacation spot there are several tombs. They are in museums, under peoples houses, everywhere.
There are new interactions too.

I'm glad you like the game!  :D

Ha ha. Classic! We can make this a forum-wide endeavor — everyone against your wife! :) But, seriously, tell her that Uncle Metro has a house full of women — a wife and 3 daughters, and except for the four-year-old, everyone plays Sims and everyone gets different things out of their experience. That's the genius of the game — it caters to so many different levels of experience. My nine-year and fourteen year old girls play on one level, sort of the virtual dollhouse level. And that's to be expected at their age. My wife is in it for an escape from the daily grind of the legal world. And then there's me: Mr. Challenge. Mr. push the envelope. So, it's whatever you want it to be.

Wow, thats pretty cool! So you can mould the game into whatever you would like. I love making the sims, then building the houses, then playing to make them all succed in whatever they do! So i love the whole thing!

I really want World Adventures, there sounds like theres a lot of tombs! Are they all the same or is there different pathways, and are the mummies just standing around of are they traps?

:)

Tombs in Egypt are full of Sarcofugus' (Sorry for bad spelling) and when you look inside them there's a chance a mummy can come out. You can also choose to sleep in the sarcofugus, this makes your sim turn into a mummy.

And yes all the tombs are different! :)

World Adventures adds quite a bit more stuff for your Sims in just about every area.  New hair and clothes, furniture, decorations, building items, landscaping items...  there's just tons! Each of the new items has the World Adventures icon attached to it when you're in Build/Buy mode so you can easily see at a glance what's new as part of the expansion pack.  The new clothing is themed for the three locations, too, which is nice.  And yes, the locations are China, Egypt, and France.  Fictional towns called Shang Simla, Al Simhara, and Champs Les Sims. Heh.

World Adventures adds an entire new dimension to Sims 3.  The adventures seem almost endless and vary from finding a specific relic in a tomb to collecting a particular metal to bringing someone a new pet frog.  I haven't encountered a mummy yet, but they can be pretty bad with the Mummy's Curse, which can cause your Sim to die if you don't get one of the cures.

Sims 3 is definitely not just for kids.  I'm one of several middle aged people here on our Forum who love the game and play it regularly. I'm probably the oldest one here and I'm closing in on the half century mark next month.

Let us know if we can answer any other questions!

Ha! Egzactly! Sims is for everyone! Im sure you only look twenty Pam,  ;) lol!
That sounds bad, a mummy curse! I guess its an easier way to kill of bad sims. What are the cures? Can you make it so you never get it? Is that what Martial arts is for? Wow so many questions!

Also if you get turned into a mummy, is your sim a mummy forever? Eep! That would be weird playing a mummy! You could have mummy babies! Haa! Or is it temperary, a week or day or something? That sounds cool!

Its good they would have the icon attached to the new stuff so you can see what you benifit from it. I love having new stuff, i dont actully use the sims website for downlaoding stuff incase my mate doesnt want it on his Sims but when i get sims im getting EVERYTHING!

Also with the Sims website, do you have to buy Sim Points from somewhere? Or do you just get them when you play? If you buy them how? And if you get them while your playing sims how? Im very interested in that subjects also.

If you encounter a mummy, you can get away from it by fighting it or distracting it with a mummy snack while you run away.  And yes, that's where Martial Arts is very useful.  We're not clear about turning into a mummy yet.  I've read that it can happen and that it's permanent, but neither Carl nor I have actually done it, so I can't confirm it.  I also think you can control a mummy in certain circumstances.  I don't think there can be mummy babies.

There are a couple of ways to get rid of the Mummy's Curse.  Again, we haven't done it ourselves, so I can't say for sure what works.  I believe kissing a Cobra snake will cure it (snake charming) and something about begging at the Sphynx.

You have to purchase Sim Points at the Sims 3 Store.  They have it all set up to take your credit card to pay for them.  You also get 1000 free Sim Points with the purchase of Sims 3 and with World Adventures.  I used my World Adventures points to buy the Asian Fusion furniture set. I've bought a few things with my own money, but not a lot. I'm happy with what comes with the game. I definitely advise caution on using the free Custom Content or mods that can be found on other websites. It seems really cool because it's cute and free, but it can really mess up your game.

Cool! I really want to be able to download heaps of stuff. Does the things made by the people who invented sims mess up the game or the custom made stuff?
I wish you could have mummy babies! That would be so funny! Have a toddler learn to walk with its arms outstreched and instead of talking groaning or something! That would be so cool! Thanks for the help!

The things made by the Electronic Arts people that you buy in the store work fine in the game.  It's the third party stuff from outside people that causes problems.  Many times, updated versions of the game won't run properly if third party custom content is installed.  I know all that stuff is popular, but I won't install it in my game anymore.

Hi there Cheese! Just my 2 cents:

Quote
I also understand you can learn Photography, Martial Arts and Nectar Making.

Photgraphy in my opinion is boring and useless. I believe Metro started a thread on it, and I agree with him. The most you can make according to my guide is $500, and you have to photograph 5 ghosts. Waste of time I think.

Martial Arts is just plain cool!  ;D They show off their belts, can break boards, meditate, and spar. Sparing could use new animations IMHO. Nector making I have not gotten to get into yet but being able to make wine is actually cool.

LMAO! OMG, the number of times my ex would call when he was working late and say "are you playing that game again??"  :D :D
Tell her I'm 35, female and LOVE IT! It's just FUN! It's just a nice change of pace after working a long stressful job all day. Bad day at work? Have a  sim with no handiness skill try to repair a dishwasher standing in a puddle of water!  ;D OK I'm actually a nice person, but I do have a weird, inappropriate side.. hahah ;D

TS3 in my opinion is the perfect outlet for stress and frustration since you have so many options with personalities! And, World Adventures honestly, is just AWESOME - ok if you can live with the weird glitches that occur - exploring tombs is fun, but, if you read my post on "Very Anti-climatic Mummy encounter" you'll see that sometimes things can go awry. Still worth it though. Just wish EA would get their stuff together and fix some of this weird stuff that keeps happening. ;)

I will love him and squeeze him and pet him and call him George!!

Oh, no no!  My Sim took a photograph worth $4,500 and a few others worth $2,500.  She currently has a wish to take a photograph worth $5,000, so it's definitely possible when you get to the higher levels where you can adjust the settings.  I don't know where you came up with only $500, but it's way wrong.  Photography can be very lucrative.  It's fun, too, because you can ask other Sims to pose and they'll do all these cheesy things like make peace signs.  There are tons of collections to complete, too.  I'm sure it's not for everyone, but it's not boring and useless.  Check the updates on the thread for some more details:  http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=210.0

Is that only a one time thing to take a high valued photo, though?  It has to be a first time shot, right?  Are there any other lucrative photo shots after the first time?

That particular shot was a first time shot, yes. It was of a pyramid in Egypt with a high skill level and the best camera. But that doesn't make photography not worthwhile overall. There are so many things to photograph and I haven't even completed any collections yet, so I don't know what they will bring. Plus, I had others that were worth $2,500 each. To me, that's quite a nice hobby. As good as painting, at least. Photography is getting a bum rap here because of Metro's initial experience, which wasn't really a fair representation of the skill. It's fun and there's money to be made.  :D

Wow, photography sounds great! What other things do sims do when someone takes a photo of them? That sounds funny!
