How to get the imaginary friend?

My toddler pretty much did not except sing to and play with the imaginary friend doll when he wasn't interacting with his parents. Now that he's a child, the message to let Fluffs out of the inventory so he'll become an imaginary friend just isn't popping up. I distinctly remember seeing the message "Fluffs has become a very special toy for Robert." So I know I've played with him enough. How do I get the imaginary friend to appear?

I'm not sure what you mean? They're usually in the child's inventory when not in use. To get them out of the inventory you just grab them out of their inventory. Then they pop-up and follow the kid.

Just set the doll on the floor without the message and see what happens.  I don't generally wait for the message that the doll wants to come out and play.

I did lay him down out of the inventory. Nothing happens.

And I know how to lay him out of the inventory. I've done this many times before.

Forgive us for stating things you may have already done and/or know how to do. We're only trying to help troubleshoot the problem. If you haven't already, try resetting the household?

Sometimes I find that no matter how long I've played with the imaginary doll as a toddler, and the message I get that he has become a very special doll/doll wants to come out and play, it just doesn't work for me. Generally I get both messages - a very special doll/wants to come out to play and when I place it on the ground, it jumps up for me, other times I get one or both of the messages and it doesn't do it, and other times, no matter how much I have played with it, I don't get the messages at all.
