Week 4, Day 23: Mo’ Birthdays…Oh Erika!Day 23 (Mon) Satoru: Katsu, Kenta, and Summer are all gone for the day.
Kenta: Thanks for getting me this cool “gakuran” school uniform, Dad.
Did you know Japan adopted this style of school uniform for male students in the early 1900s? It’s modeled after French naval uniforms.
Satoru: Yeah, I read all about that when I ordered your uniform online. So who will you give your second button to?
You know it’s a practice in your senior year to give away the jacket’s second button to someone special because it’s the button closest to the heart.
Kenta: I’m already promised, Dad, and so is my second button!
Summer: Erika plays hooky in hopes of maxing Logic before she ages up tomorrow.
Yuki doesn’t start work until tomorrow. She’s the only one in the house who can legitimately play video games, since that’s her daily task now.
She was a C student in high school, though, so she starts the Tech Guru career at Level 1.
Satoru: Now that I’m back from work, I love when all of us sit down and share a meal together!
W: Hey, Satoru, I’ve been wanting to talk about your family’s future. Have you thought about passing on your skills that can be mentored?Satoru: Yes, I have, in fact. I plan to mentor our three children in different skills. Then, if needed, they can mentor each other.
This is what I have in mind:
Kats (Journalist): Writing and Fitness (maxed already: Logic and Violin)
Eirika (Babysitter): Handiness (almost maxed: Logic)
Kenta (Musician): Violin, Painting, Guitar
Satoru: There’s just no room here for a piano, so that’s out.
W: What about Yuki? Satoru: She’ll just be focusing on her career and, after Kats ages up, looking after the children.
Unfortunately, it’s just not worth the effort to mentor sims who haven’t completed childhood aspirations, like Summer and Yuki.
Still, it’s great that she helps Satoru with his homework.
W: And what about you and Summer?S: Well, Summer needs to working on her career in Business/Management.
She’s Level 7 Charisma right now and if she can max Charisma, she might even reach Level 10 of her career by the end of next week!
I see y’all are eating fish tacos for dinner tonight!Summer: It’s really great having a kitchen, even if everyone complains that my poorly-meals leave a Bad Aftertaste.
Satoru: I’m a little sad that Kats and Yuki couldn’t enjoy their teen years together, but I’m all for Yuki lifting the eSport Gamer restriction asap.
Being able to use phones, TVs, computers, and tablets would be so awesome! A TV’s really the best way for the household to socialize and have fun!
Kats needs to age up soon, though. I’m a little worried about those two. He spends too much time hanging out in Yuki’s bedroom
I mean, is there a reason why he needs to do his extra credit homework on her bed?
Day 24 (Tue)Erika: In the morning, I age up into a teen!
Though we can’t throw birthday parties yet (Comedian restriction), I’m the first sim in this household to age up with a birthday cake!
Besides being a Loner, I’m now also a Cheerful Curator. Too bad we can’t send stuff to the Geo Council yet…
And we’re off to plan your outfits, Erika! You can’t be wearing shades for your everyday outfit!Erika: Watchette, do you think Paolo will still like me?
Sweetheart, he doesn’t stand a chance!Erika: Everyone else seems to be getting ready for school or work, but I don’t start high school until tomorrow.
Mom helps me with my extra credit homework, but I’m not sure why I even bother since I’m already a B student in high school and won’t have an adult career.
Summer: Kats and Erika recently aged up but, thankfully, I still have one last baby in the house!
Kenta and Kats will have their birthdays around the same time again, with Kenta becoming a teen and Kats becoming a young adult next time.
And my adult birthday’s tomorrow! I really need to let everything else go and just work on leveling Charisma!
Satoru: I just realized that I have three days off! With everyone else gone, today’s a great chance to start mentoring Erika in Handiness.
Here we are in that absurdly tiny “future Focused Room,” located next door to Yuki’s bedroom. Sorry for the walls-down shot!
Day 25 (Wed)Erika: On my day off yesterday, Dad helped me max Logic and reach Level 6 Handiness. Totally worth it.
This morning, I’m off to my first day of high school.
Summer: I’m doing pretty good at work! I’m a Level 6 Senior Manager now and will no doubt get another promotion very soon.
My biggest concern is skilling Charisma, which I need to max for my career. It’s been stuck at Level 7 for over a week now, even though I spend a few hours socializing everyday!
As Satoru mentioned a few weeks ago, I make friends very easily but my Charisma level doesn’t increase. I foresee this as keeping me back from future promotions!
By the way, today’s my adult birthday!
Paolo phoned me as soon as I got home so I invited him over to celebrate with me.
I’m not sure what Erika’s problem is, making that face! Maybe she’s just showing off in front of my guest, Paolo?
Summer: I’m an adult now but don’t look much different.
Wait, why is Paolo best friends with my daughter? When he phoned, was he only pretending to be my guest instead of Erika’s?
Day 26 (Thu)Satoru: I’ve been off since Tuesday and have been mentoring the kids, but everyone’s off to work or school this afternoon.
Even with my Mentor trait, the kids don’t have any for-purchase traits to speed up the leveling process so skilling seems to take forever. I guess I’ve just been spoiled.
Hopefully, one of the Gen3 kids can max Pro Athlete so the family can start using its reward points.
Before that, though, Kenta will max Musician, enabling the household to switch aspirations and earn more reward points.
Since we’re not allowed to upgrade anything except the rocketship (Astronaut/Interstellar Smuggler), that’s something I can do in my free time when no one requires mentoring.
I have Level 9 Rocket Science, so I could even install that wormhole generator expansion eventually.
Day 27 (Fri)Summer: Watchette’s always complaining about how slow everyone is at skilling, but we’re still enjoying moderate success!
All three children have A’s at school. I’m a Level 7 Vice President at work with Level 8 charisma (finally!).
Yuki’s had two promotions since Tuesday and is now a Level 3 Code Monkey!
I work on my Charisma every chance I get! I’m not a big fan of Eliza Pancakes and her snooty walk but when I spy her walking by tonight, I invite her inside to chat.
Eliza’s “Very Flirty” mood is a tad disturbing, but at least she doesn’t start fires on the science table!
Satoru: On her adult birthday, Yuki rolled the Family-Oriented trait, same as me.
I notice she sometimes pops a sad Missing Family moodlet. She’s probably never lived apart from her sister before, poor thing!
Yuki’s been working really hard lately, modding games on our two computers when her daily task’s Programming.
W: You know, Satoru, whenever I click on Kats’ Energy bar to send him to bed, he autonomously goes straight to Yuki’s room to sleep.
They work hard until they drop every day and there’s been no hanky panky, so I’ve been letting Yuki take comfort in Kats’ closeness.Satoru: I’ve known about that, too, Watchette. After more thought, I’m okay with it as well.
Yuki’s a Family-Oriented sim and Kats is gradually becoming her family. I already consider her my daughter-in-law.
Day 28 (Sat)Erika: It’s Saturday morning and everyone converges on the first floor to have breakfast and chat.
That’s me, washing my dishes on the left.
Reading is the only way to restore fun at the moment, so you can always find someone reading.
Satoru: Don’t forget our household meeting tonight after you get off work, Erika.
How shall we spend our money on Sunday before the mob takes it all on Monday afternoon?
Paintings to boost the room environment?
Sadly, we can’t buy higher-quality furniture, like beds, until we clear the Tech Guru/Startup Entrepreneur career.
Erika: Everyone is off today, except for me and Dad.
Mom’s so intent on reaching Level 9 Charisma today that she runs outside in her pjs and strikes up convos with random walk-bys.
W: Yeah, Satoru’s family back in Windenberg also loved to spend their days in either their sleepwear or workout clothes.Dad mentors Kenta, our future Musician, in violin, while I go work on the rocketship with Kats and Yuki.
Erika: On Tuesday when I phoned about a part-time job babysitting, I started the job at Level 2 because of my good grades.
Here I am on Saturday night, getting back from my first day of work.
I’m only a half-tick away from a promotion, so I’ll def max the Babysitter career tomorrow night.
After that, Watchette will be able to choose all of our traits instead of using a random trait generator! Yay!
Sorry folks, but I have to run! It’s 11:30 pm now and Dad likes to call a meeting every Saturday night at this time.
We need to decide as a household how we’re going to spend our money in Buy/Build mode once the clock strikes midnight.
I don’t want to miss the meeting! I want to request a violin for adults and a guitar!
Remarks:I'm so impatient to lift as many restrictions as possible right away.
But the challenge is designed to make me grit my teeth and wait, since each sim can only lift one restriction associated with a teen or adult career.
Moreover, only one sim can be invited into the household per generation until the Comedian career is cleared.
I only wish Sims 4 had more content that would allow us to create a neighborhood and sims that appear more post-apocalyptic and sci-fi!
