Promotion to the other branch
« on: April 11, 2016, 08:49:05 AM »
Hi guys, recently, I've been managing 2 households, Henry household in Willow Creek and Bro one in Windenburg.  I was playing game with Bro, Sergio went to work and got a popup for choosing branch in Athlete. I picked "Minor League" in Pro Athlete, then I switched over to Henry, I was playing for one night with Henry, then I switched back to Bro.

When I activated Bro, Sergio career says he is late at work at 9 am? I thought work for Minor Leaguer starts at 2 pm, right? I checked his career and he is set to Personal trainer in Body builder field!!  I used the demote cheat and he got fired. I went back to Main Menu without saving, then came back. I had a look here for all career cheats. There's only promote or demote one. So I used promote cheat but it never work.

I just want him to go back to  the level 4 and try for the Pro Athlete branch again or is there a way to set his career to Minor Leaguer? It's really hard to manage multiple households with promotions or managing work performances. :(

I tried the cheat.

careers.promote athletic Minor Leaguer - failed

careers.promote athletic MinorLeaguer - failed

careers.promote Minor Leaguer - failed

careers.promote MinorLeaguer - failed

I know you managed to have another sim work in both branches of the same career, but I've never managed that. I always thought it is impossible for one sim to do both branches of one career. I haven't been able to use any cheat to successfully do this either. Sorry I can't help!

Thanks for reply. Anyway, I appreciate your caring. I found another way to complete both branches in a career. First, complete all one branch in each career, then save the sim in library, create a new game and reload that sim into the new fresh game and start a new game with that sim. Then get a job in other career, then you can start from maybe..level 3 if your sim was A student, or level 4 if your sim also has a connection reward. :D Then your sim can complete all branches in the new game. :)

@Summers  Like @Playalot, I've never succeeded in completing both branches of a career.
However, I went and checked Carl's page on your cheats and it seems you are mistyping the code.

I tried the cheat.
careers.promote athletic Minor Leaguer - failed
careers.promote athletic MinorLeaguer - failed
careers.promote Minor Leaguer - failed
careers.promote MinorLeaguer - failed

What I see on Carl's page is:
careers.promote athletic

Just those three words, without Minor Leaguer or MinorLeaguer
If you promote your Sim to the level where branching normally occurs (forgot which level) but receive no option for branching, it probably means you are locked into the branch you previously chose.
Good luck.

I'm not sure I understood what you're saying correctly. Actually I didn't understand fully.  Sergio's current level is Personal Trainer which is the first level at Body builder. So if I type just 'careers.promote athletic', then he gets promoted to Professional Bodybuilder(level 6 in bodybuilder branch), not Minor Leaguer( Level 5 in Pro Athlete).  So I tried the demote cheat, then he got fired and lost his job. So I let him get the athlete job back in, then the popup says,"hiring 'personal trainer' at bodybuilder path".  So now I have no idea what to do to go back to 'Dance Team Captain' level 4 in Athlete.

Only 2 ways I know is..just get a different job for a long time until his athlete career expiration date is over, then come back..take long time to do, or let him quit the job and save him in the library, then start a new game with him, then he can go back.  But currently, I'm managing 2 households, so I can't choose either. I better give up and lead my story to other way. Thank you. :)

What I meant to say: The game is not allowing you to switch to the other branch, using the demote and promote cheats.
It's not an issue of the cheats not working; it's how the game is designed, I think.
My experience is that once I choose one branch of a career, I cannot go back and choose the other.

So, sorry but I can't offer any help, either.

Ahh ok. Sadly, I didn't choose Bodybuilder branch when the popup came up. I definitely choose Pro Athlete, Minor Leaguer, then moved to the other household and now there's no way to go back because I already saved the game. I don't have any backup. T,T  This is my mistake. Thank you Oshizu. :)

Awww, that's too bad, Summers!
I've noticed that my sim sometimes get a career pop-up when the other sims are out so I make a choice, but when my working sim gets home again, I have to choose a branch again.

Enjoy your simming.  :D
