How 'Confess attraction' works in Sims 4?
« on: April 09, 2016, 02:23:16 PM »
Hi, my male sim started a new pink life with a girl. I started a new game with my Richard who was the oldest boy of my Norma and Ayden parents in previous game. What I mean is I started with him a new single game. Anyway, he found a girl in neighborhood, he kissed her for the first time the other night and she accepted his love. She invited him to Oasis park and wanted to hang out with him. He confessed attraction to her but suddenly, she refused his confess and gave him double minus. Is it working in different way to the sims 3? I'm very confused now. :(  He has skill point 10 at charisma and working for secret agent(Spy Captain).

There is always a chance of failed interactions. Remember, emotions play a big role.  So if there any tense moodlets, even hidden behind a flirty moodlet or confident, what have you, it can still bring the chance for a negative interaction up.  The other thing to keep in mind is that confess attraction is one with higher value, though I thought that as long as you had first kiss, it shouldn't be bad.  But if there was some time in between the first kiss and when he confessed attraction, it might have been enough for the pink bar to just dip down just a little.  I'm more likely to go with a tense or uncomfortable moodlet hiding behind a good moodlet though as the cause.

That's  ok then, but is there any interaction like 'smooth recovery' in Sims 4? He completed charisma but I can't find anything like that.

Even though, I didn't get the smooth recovery interaction, my sim made her flirty using 'pick up line'. :)

Good!  Actually, I think smooth recovery is a romantic social and apologize is friendly, now that I think about it.  Sorry for confusion.  I'm at work and unable to get in game, so doing it from memory XD

It very rare that the confess attraction works as intended for me. Generally always seem to damage the relationship I've found.

YES! I tried it several times in different games but haven't got any positive reaction from that. That's why I thought maybe, the sims 4 confess attraction works in other way as compared to the sims 3 interaction.

I wait until the pink bar is about half way full before using it.  If it's at least there, it shouldn't give a hit unless there's some negative moodlets goin' on.  But no, it doesn't quite work like Sims 3.  One thing to keep in mind is that Sims 4 is a very different beast to Sims 3 so while several things have the same name, they will act differently ^^

In real life, usually we confess attraction first before getting into the real pink relationship in general, don't we? Will it be different in US? :) In my country, first, get an agreement first each other that I'm very curious and interested in someone special, then start a real romantic relationship as I've learned. Or maybe...it has a different cultural manner in Sims 4 society. I don't know whatever. LOL  It's hard to understand sims' feelings.

The only time I've noticed the Smooth Recovery option appear, is when you've actively done something to offend another Sim, like a mean interaction. I'm not sure failed interactions require an apology, necessarily. Just follow up, with something that adds a positive & continue. Also, it requires a certain level of Charisma skill.

I've had confess attraction work well when both sims were flirty and had about 1/4 of the romance bar filled. Usually though I wait until it is half way or more as it does seem more likely to be an epic (embarrassing) failure with sims. lol

Yes, in real life usually confess attraction comes early on in a relationship. But like the others, I've found it tends to produce embarrassment in TS4. I've found that flirting and complimenting appearance are usually fairly safe. And if they do get embarrassed, stick with friendly interactions until the awkward sign goes away.
