Severe Lag
« on: April 07, 2016, 11:13:20 PM »
Hi, I am *trying* to play a family in Sunset Valley w/9 sims and they own 2 properties - home and another property they use as a garden. It's almost unplayable b/c of lag. I tried clearing the cache files and that didn't work. Right now, the game window will not move either w/the keyboard or w/the mouse. I had this same thing happen w/another large family, but that family only has 8 sims, but the largest lot and 2 horses. That family is in Appaloosa Plains. The only other thing I can think of is that I've not updated the game to be able to read my video card which is newer than what EA anticipated. Does anybody know why the severe lag? Thaks!

Edit: it seems like it is playing ok for the moment, but still tends to freeze up for a few mins when I put it on live mode.

Have you tried any of these troubleshooting tips?

Tips to relieve lag and freezing
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,24709.msg422978.html#msg422978

Also remember, the bigger your family, house and the more stuff the family has it will cause lag.

Well, I did some of that. They did have a lot of stuff in the family inventory and n their personal inventories including a lot of paintings by his deceased brother. The worst lag happens though on the greenhouse although I can sell most  of the fruits from there. As for disabling origin in game, I'll try that next time I play. For disabling memories, I wish I could, but it's either that or disabling notifications which I have it set  to. The notices drive me up the wall, lol. I already have the interactive screen disabled. That definitely causes lag and so it's always turned off. We'll see how well it runs tomorrow, especially when I sell most of the fruits. The only fruit I really need to keep is the life fruit and Cranerlet grapes for his wine making. We'll see what happens. :)  Thanks!

I usually have memories turned off due to them definitely causing a lot of lag. I turn off the notices with Nraas's Register.

Nraas Register - How to Turn Off Notices
1. Click Map View, scroll over to City Hall and Left-click on it.
2. Select Nraas > Register.
3. Click on Show Notices = False. (It's the 3rd option up from the bottom.)

I've been trying some things including reset lot. I've not tried resetting the town yet, but I think at least this lot, if not the whole town, is corrupted. I tried aging up the toddler b/c it was her birthday and she cannot age up at all! Whether it's from the cake or shift/click on her and "trigger age transition," or whatever, she just won't age. When I tried editing her in CAS, the whole game freezes up and I have to force quit it. This is leading me to think that this household at least is corrupted. :(

I'm sorry to hear that. I have this habit of saving family and their house quite a lot, at different stages of their life. And use Save As often. In case something happens with the game.

Is there away you might be able to try this family out in a new game to see what happens? Just as a test?

I'm trying now. I just reduced the size of the family, but that didn't help. I think the whole game is corrupted. It's pretty much unplayble. I just quit and am going to go back to see if I can save a copy to the library and go from there.

Edit: The toddler (who I moved out w/an adult) still will not age up. Every single time I try, she gets the "be picked up" by an adult nearby or starts playing w/her IF. Also, when the lady moved out, she now has $0! I thought they got about $20k. So maybe this whole game is corrupted?

I split a family of mine recently. As it was two families living together and the 2nd family only got like $8,000. However. They only had about $16,000 in-total just before I split the family.

This idea just popped into my head. Have you tried taking the family back into Create a Sim and save them in CAS?

Create a new game, go into Create a Sim, grab the family to use in a new game. To see if the family is okay?

Hi again! I just found out that I was choosing the wrong Alvi household which is why I was having problems placing them, lol. I Don't know what to do about the daughter though I have a question though. I will try to go back to her original save and see what happens there. I have a question about moving though, do they always get 0 money when you choose a "kick out" option on moving? I've never seen that before.

Edit: I went back to the original Alvi household and got rid of a lot of stuff and it's playing much better now. Now, I need to go to the bot and get rid of most of its inventory. It has 100's of crops that need to be sold. The only thing I'll need is the Pommegranates and Life Fruit. All others can be sold.

Edit 2: I got rid of the bot's inventory mostly and things are much, much smoother now. What can I say, I'm tend to be a hoarder, LOL. I guess I've learned that this is not good. I sold all of the produce for $98k!!

The times I've used the move and/or kickout they've divided the household amount between the Sims who was leaving and those who stayed.

So I'm guessing it depends on how much in total the household has. If it doesn't have much money it may not allow those who move out much money to move out with.

The household has more than $500k and is worth almost $900k so money is not an issue, lol.

Well, It's absolute now. The toddler's file is corrupted. I suspected it before, but now that she's in a new house w/just one adult and an empty inventory, she still refuses to age up and if I evict the family and try to move them into a different house or even save a copy of them to the library, they fail to do anything. The game just hangs up eternally. My first plan of approach is to cheat her (the adult) science skill up and have her take a dna sample of the toddler and re-create her in the science station. Hopefully, that will work! I can edit relationships from there. I have no idea though how the file got corrupted!

It didn't work. I was not able to get a dna sample from her at all. What did work though, is that I went over to NRAAS and asked over there since they're a bit more techy over there. They had me d/l the Debugger and then on city hall options, click on "fix invisible sims." That did the trick! Everything is fixed now. YAY!

Yay!! I'm happy to hear you were able to fix the game and family!! :)  Sorry I didn't know about Nraas Debugger. I'm only familiar with a few Nraas mods.
