Finding various metals
« on: November 21, 2010, 04:01:23 AM »
Hey are there specific locations for metals like Platinum in China or Titanium in France?
Since the Collection Helper doesn't reveal metals, I'm wondering how they could be found more easily.

Thanks

edit: ok I've just got a Opportunity in China to deliver Platinum, so I just went on a mad rush and collected as many as I can lol

There's also a great opportunity in China called Telescopic Metals that shows you 5 different types of metals from Map View.  I've used it many times to make a good deal of cash.  As long as you don't complete the opportunity by turning the metals in, they will keep spawning and showing up on the map.  Then, even when you do finish it, the same opportunity will come again.  There's nothing similar for France or Egypt, though.  But in France, most every metal is valuable.

Cool, so randomly looking on the ground is the way to go for the other 2 countries?

Some adventures in Egypt and France can give you the map tags of valuable metals, too, just not as many. In the MorbuCorp adventure-chain in Egypt, you get the mission of finding Mummitomium and you can keep the adventure for as long as you want to be able to see the Mummitomium spawns on the map. Be aware that this one is a one time adventure, but you can record the spawn spots and keep checking back to them.
If you need Copper, just check the island with the ruins in Egypt. There's a medium-sized tomb there with masses of Copper, and you can also find it on the ground there.
In France there's also an adventure to find Titanium. That one can be done an infinite amount of times and it always pops up on the adventure board for me when I'm done with all the big adventures in France. :)
There's possibly more than that but that's all I know. Randomly looking on the ground works too, of course, and I find it lots of fun to have my sim run all over and camp in random places during her vacation. :D

I just read this again and realized that you may be misunderstanding about the Collection Helper.  It does show you where metals are, just like it does for gems.  It just doesn't tell you the type of metal.  You don't find that out until you pick it up unless you can identify it by it's color.
