Autonomous plead for life
« on: March 26, 2016, 11:18:18 AM »
Can sims autonomously plead for the life of their loved one? If not, I don't know what just happened in my game.

The father of my family died of old age. I got the pop-up that his time has come and he is dying of old age. I was okay with that since I need room in my household for the kids to start their own families. So the grim came and the daughter was the only one to come and mourn for her dad. I was following the other members of the family because I wanted them to finish their daily tasks for their jobs. After a while I turned my attention back to the death scene in order to move the urn to the cemetery. But instead of an urn I saw the deceased slowly rise, then jump in the air and go to sleep as if nothing had happened.

Now I am really puzzled about what really happened there? Did the daughter autonomously plead for her dad's life or did the grim just let him off the hook... There was no popup to explain the situation. I know that the daughter did not have a death flower to give to the grim because she has never done any gardening. And I had just emptied the father's inventory, because I knew he would die soon.

Has this happened to any of you in your games?

I can't say as it has! That sounds like an interesting glitch! Grim actually came?

As far as I know Tipi autonomous pleading can not happen. Do you use any mods? I know certain mods allow for this game play. Other than that I am clueless and a quick net search didn't bring up anything either!
If he was resurrected he should have a positive moodlet saying something about escaping death and also Grim will probably come back for him fairly soon as resurrected elders do not seem to get very much 'extra' time.

Did you reset a sim anytime while Grim was there? The father could have been reset somehow, cancelling the reaping action, but that's all I can think of.

Thank you all for your comments.

The grim really came. The animation when my sim rose up was the same when grim lets a sim live (at least if I remember right, since I have not done pleading for a while). The only mods I have are nomeoresamesimseverywhere and nomorerelatioshipculling which should not have anything to do with death. And finally, I did not reset any sim during that game session.

The grim came for the father the next evening and this time everything went as it should - the father is really gone now. I guess what happened the first time will remain a mystery.

Aww, shame Grim came back so soon but it seems that's the way of this iteration. It is a mystery and an intriguing one for sure as it all points, as you said, to autonomous pleading!
