Musical Genius Aspiration
« on: March 24, 2016, 07:35:32 AM »
Hi guys. There's a milestone,"Earn 500 from licensed songs' all you know. My oldest teen sim is 7 level at piano. It's already '277/500' in his milestone. As you know he is allowed to write a song from level 8 each musical instrument. Will it be a bug or is there other way to filling up that milestone without writing songs?

At first when I found that weird thing, I thought it could be from the income of his parents' licensed songs. So I asked his father sim to license his another song at the postbox. His daddy sim earned 728 simoleons from his songs but it was not added to his son's milestone. So now I'm more curious what's happening to my oldest teen..? This teen has music lover trait. :)

What I recall is that your sim gets money from the licensed song every day. And your sim also gets around $200 as soon as the song is sent off. So it's possible that your teen sim got the money for the song, but the father is being credited with the royalties. Anyway, it sounds like your teen might have to write another song. I don't think he can license it himself until level 9 of the instrument, though. (The way music is handled drives me crazy, by the way -- beautiful songs, horrible tips and royalties.)

I've complained on the official bug forums regarding writing songs but no change yet in the mechanic.  It's ridiculously hard compared to writing books.

It's shown as he already earned 277 simoleons from licensed songs but actually he didn't. I mean he hasn't created his first song yet.  That's what I think very weird. :) His both parents all completed musical genius aspiration and they have 4 owned songs each.

Yeah I know the music is terrible field in the Sims 4. Also Bartender is terrible as well. I just like to play the piano. That's why..haha..  I made a lot of money from selling rare home garden fruits and flowers  and completed Fabulously Wealthy, then they started music aspiration, chef and bartender. I wouldn't recommend these at the start of sim life. :)

I noticed any creating stuff takes at least 3 days include writing songs. Recently, my male parent sim created a video game, it took 3 days long. I'm not going to create anything in sims 4. ;(  I named the video game, The Sims 5. haha

Try book writing - you can fairly easily write one book a day and you can publish any number of books and earn royalties - it's nuts compared to writing songs where you're limited to one per instrument and it takes a very long time to write.

The Musical Genius isn't a profitable aspiration but still I love the Piper interaction which lets me make everyone clean the house!

I really love the Musical Genius Aspiration, it doesn't bother me that you can't make huge amounts of money from it, its art! You can license a song a week but write as many as you want. My sim can write a new song fairly quickly as long as his mood is Very Inspired. If you start with all the needs full and have a break half way through for eating and so on and getting back into very inspired it doesn't seem unduly long.

If you don't like trying to complete it in two sessions then the easiest way is to have your sim working on it frequently but in short bursts during the week. That way by the time it is ready to license another your sim will have probably completed at least another two songs, if not three. Just remember to click on the song inside the sims personal inventory and choose 'resume' otherwise you will be constantly starting a new song.

Dj mix tapes also contribute to this aspiration.

Thanks for the GREAT TIP :D Yeah he needs to go to school everyday, and now he finish his homework very quick without additional homework. I let him do the homework first after school, and he eats dinner, and after that he write a song straightaway until midnight. The special piano that his mommy got from the music career is great. It's giving him inspired emotion. I put more inspiring objects around him, and I'm trying to do my best to finish quicker. :D Will it take more than 3 days to complete just one song?

It shouldn't take more than three days, even though he is still going to school and doing all those things. I must admit to only writing songs on the weekends with teens but your strategy of writing at night is just as good. Use the gaze at stars/cloud gaze interaction if you have Spa Day as that gives a great long lasting inspired moodlet as well as taking a bath with soaks (lavender for happy) and burn sage incense in the bathroom at the same time as this make the moodlet from the bath last for 12 hours. Because it gives a happy moodlet it will boost any inspired moodlets (or focused when you switch over to send him to school).
