Hello, I have 5 members of family. I experienced the other two, Detective and Doctor career but couldn't continue to scientist because my sim couple started to have babies. The most important issue for me is daily task like homework for teens and one of their parents daily tasks they have to prepare for work next day. If I keep following the scientist sim, then they won't do anything at home lot. I just can be able to ask them to learn skills, clean home or tend garden at home. I tried all 3 options while my sim was working in the hospital but only learning skill worked and the other two were useless. Also there's no option for doing homework or other daily task thing while the simmer away from the leftovers. So I don't want to get a job for science career but want to learn how to make serums. My sims are all maxed with Logic and Handiness, so there wouldn't be any problem at analyzing and upgrading chemical analyzer or something other objects are used in Scientist career.  I wish I could learn it. :)

Hey Summers ^^ You can buy the... analyzer, I believe from the scientist career, but to get the chem station, I believe you have to hit level four.  However, you don't have to join them every day.  You can choose to make it like a rabbit hole career.  As long as you have your requirements met, then you should be good.  You can also get the connections reward and automatically start at level 4 to get the chem station. I'm not in game, so I'm going off memory as far as what you get when, but I think that's about right.

Hi Shewolf :)

Is that only need a chem station? Will it be ok to quit the job after getting it? Yes I already have the updated chemical analyzer at home lot. :) In case other careers, if I join with her, she earns 4000 simoleons a day as Chef Detective, If I don't, she earns under 500...with an alert 'terrible job'. :(  That's why I'm afraid of sending a sim alone.

Yup, as far as I know, you just need the chem station and the proper ingredients.  And yeah, you can certainly quit the job ^^  Remember, just like the other careers, you have to have them in the proper emotion as well as have any daily task done, though I don't believe the GTW careers have a daily task, now that I think of it.  But proper emotion and working hard are the best bet for sending them alone.

You have to be in the Science career to the the chem station tho. If you quit the science career you'll not be able to use it anymore.
But if you go through the science career and make the potions you want to use later you can use the cloning machine to make copies of them and you can use the cloning machine even after to quit the science career.

@grimsoul

You can't just take the chem lab you get from the career and use it at home?

@Shewolf You can as long as your in the science career but once you quit it doesn't let you use it any more even if your at level 10 of the career when you quit. It'll give a message something like only a scientist has to knowledge to use it.

Oh yeah it makes sense. It's just like my sim is not allowed to use an operation machine after quitting doctor career. Now I'm getting more interested in cloning machine. :D I can search more about this. Thanks it was great help. :)

@Summers

Can't you just have your Scientist's family work on career daily tasks and homework after the Scientist gets home from work?
There should be time in the evenings to get that done since the Scientist only needs his brainstorm thingies.
The Scientist can get promotions by going to work alone and "Working Hard," but you could follow the Scientist whenever you want to create a scientific invention.

Hi Oshizu, :)

I used to do that way while in doctor career. I had to work late often to complete upgrading 2 x rays and 2 chemical analyzer at hospital. And it's about 9 pm after late work. Other family's energy just run down. :( Also, I'm not sure it's a bug but it takes ages to complete homework for teens. Is that normal? Does Logic skill help them finish homework faster like the sims 3?

If an adult uses the 'helps with homework' interaction it cuts the time down by half. Get the teen to start the homework and directing an adult click on the teen and the interaction to help will be there.

Also I have a scientist sim that has maxed the science career and I have never followed him to work. So it is possible to just send your scientist to work and still be able to progress him. Just a thought.  :)

Thank you Playalot. :) It still takes 2 to 3 hrs to complete with getting help from their parents. haha.. Would logic skill make faster their homework done like the sims 3? I will try to follow your way for scientist career. Currently, mommy sim is in painter career and daddy sim is in Tech Guru. I want to let them finish their career first, then I will try for the scientist, or just make teens age up and have one of them become a scientist. :)

Maybe...I think actually I better age one up to young adult, then I can manage the other two much easier because I want to adopt one child soon. :D

You can also follow the Scientist to work long enough to get their daily task bar full and then switch back tomthe home lot when the kids get home from school.
