Environment Need?
« on: March 16, 2016, 09:33:05 PM »
Hey all. :) Does TS4 have an equivalent to the Environment/Room Motive in TS3 (or indeed, an emotion related to it), and if so, what sort of things fill it?

Thanks :)

Environment tends to influence emotions.  Better decorated rooms give more happy emotion, for example.  In fact, objects will have an environment value, though they no longer get an undecorated moodlet if it isn't.  Does that answer your question?

If you look at the descriptions of the buy items it will tell you the environment 'rating' but there are also many items that will have an emotional aura. Items that have just environmental auras will give a sim a 'happy' emotion or a 'Very happy' emotion.

However, like shewolf said, sims in ts4 do not notice unfurnished, unpainted, unlit or even incomplete rooms at all. But they will notice dirty surroundings and 'good' surroundings and their emotional moodlet will show this.

It seems like it does, thanks. Just to double check, it doesn't influence their emotions too much (ie they're not depressed) if they are in an undecorated room?

Nope, sims don't even have an awareness of any sort of room. In fact there aren't even 'rooms' in the program. It's all linked to in-game items. So unpainted rooms don't register at all.
