What purpose is vampire fish?
« on: November 20, 2010, 02:15:27 AM »
Ok I know this is a weird question but I didn't the answer I was looking for in the guide. The deathfish of course is for Ambrosia. But does anyone know or have experienced the use of the vampire fish? Or even that new fish the Kissing Gourmi or something like. I am mainly wanting to know about the vampire fish. Does is turn people? Is it a delicacy for my vampire Sims? Does it even have a purpose other than fertilizer? Perhaps someone can share the use of other fish here as well.

Well, you already know about the fertilizer part.  That's really the only thing it's good for, but it's the best fertilizer you can use.  Vampire fish have been in Sims 3 since it was first released, long before any talk of vampires in the game.  I haven't caught any of the new Late Night fish, but I doubt they do anything special.

One funny thing I had happen was with the large aquarium from the High End Loft stuff pack.  I found that if you put a fish that's the bait for another fish in the same tank, the bait fish will get eaten.  I saw the "fight" the two fish had and then the one was gone from the tank.  So, don't put Angel Fish in the tank with Deathfish, etc.

I looked and looked for that screenshot Pam.  That was so long ago, it is deeply buried.  I remember when you put that up on the forum.  Really cracked me up and you had gotten so close.  Anyway, yes, they do tend to have a feeding frenzy if their bait is in the same tank. :)
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

I haven't been able to find it, either, Salty.  The only one I can find is just the close up in the tank, but they're not fighting.

Just fertilizer huh? I guess I was hoping there would be some exciting purpose for the vampire fish that I just missed. If I use it for fertilizer does it make my garden better? Like if I have nice quality without fertilizer will it turn it into outstanding? I don't think I have ever used fertilizer because my Sim did well without it. Or I would keep forgetting to use it. I will give it a try.

Any thoughts on the other fish? The kissing gaurmi? What does the robot fish do? Can't eat it right?  ;D

To learn about fertilizer, check out the fertilizer Guide.

I don't know anything specific about the Kissing Gourami, but I doubt it does anything special.  The real life Kissing Gourami is just a fish like the others.  Robot Fish don't do anything, but they are the heaviest and will help fulfill wishes for heavy fish.  And yes, your Sims can eat them.  They can be made into sushi.

My sims seem to get biten when they catch vampire fish, and they sell for a lot so I do catch them, but I use surplus life fruit for fertilizer.  Its silly but I think the plants last longer if they have life fruit.  For example Vampire fish might sell for 250 or more and life fruit 500 but I fertilize with life fruit and sell the vampire fish because the life fruit makes the plant produce over a longer time. I could be wrong on this though.

Perfect Life Fruit as fertilizer (with all gardening opportunities completed), will last for 9 days, whereas vampire fish will last for only 4 or 5 if I am remembering correctly from when I did the research for the fertilizer guide.  Also,  perfect Garlic will last for 6 days max as fertilizer.

Get bit by the vampire fish? Now that hasn't happened to my Sim yet. Does it turn them? That's kind of what I was hoping. That the vamp fish can turn a Sim into a vampire. At least that would make sense I should say.

It does not turn them.  They check their finger and say Something in Simish.  They have done that all along.  I tried right after I loaded LN and they didnt turn them with the new code *LOL*  It would have been to easy *LOL*

I know it's hard to believe, but the highest I sold a life fruit for was nearly $900 simoleons. Cool eh?
