Need disc to play game
« on: November 18, 2010, 11:48:10 AM »
Just curious, Do I need the sims 3 game disc in the hard drive to play it? I have tried without but it says it does. What I am wondering is there a way to play it without needing the disc? Because I was thinking about ordering the Late Night one to download from the site but if I need the disc how will it play?

If you purchase the physical copy of the game (disk), you need it to play the game.  If you download it from somewhere, it's set up differently and you won't need a disk.  Electronic Arts wouldn't sell you a downloaded game that needs a disk to run.

If you bought a physical copy of the game you do not need it to run the game.  But you have to install it differently.  You can not install the game with the disc.  First off you need to register the game.  Then download EADM.  Acitvate the game you purchased and TA DA!  It will show up in the list of games you own and then you will have a digital download AND a physical copy of the game.  You are allowed to authorize 5 computers to play you game.  Any questions just reply or send me a PM.

EDIT:  Something that I did learn recently is that you need to be online for the digital download to work.  So if your computer won't always be online I recommend using the disc install.
