Call to Meal problem

Everything in my dinner party was going well with every little criteria met except "Call to Meal" never showed up as an option and Get A Serving together doesn't work to complete the Call to Meal which is the main goal of the party.  Anyone else having this problem or is there a known fix or work around?

Did you have a club gathering going on at the same time? I had this happen when I had a club gathering going during my party. Once I ended the gathering the option showed up.

I haven't thrown a dinner party in a while, but I have noticed that certain options won't show up on a meal at times.  Did you try waiting a bit, then clicking again?  It seems odd, and I haven't been able to pinpoint just what makes options disappear yet, but that seems to work for me.  Maybe click on something else, then click on the meal.

I did have a gathering going on although I've done parties before with it on and no problem.  Just seems pretty consistent when I try dinner parties.  My Sim needs a silver to complete his aspiration section.

Hope it helps, Joria.  There are times I can't tell what helps from one moment to the next.

On a similar note, there are times when I will have Sims over, and only certain ones will be available for chess, or to play cards with. Sometimes, I will have just one over, and he's not available for chess or card games. Perhaps, there's a similar cause. Perhaps, they have unseen needs or moods, that are preventing them from responding to food or to play? Maybe, the Sim is full, and therefore won't eat, when called to a meal. Just a thought.

@Joria  The same thing happened to me quite recently (last week?), where no "Call to Meal" option would pop up.
The "Grab a serving together" is a Group feature so it shouldn't be affected by whether a club is gathering or not, right?
But I assumed my dinner party required that I initiate a "Call to Meal action, so I focused on that.
Like you, I also had a club gathering going on, which had never prevented the "Call to Meal" from appearing before.

Anyway, a little later in the party, I tried switching to a different dish and the Call to Meal option appeared.
I can't tell if the solution was waiting or serving a different dish. All I know is that this had never happened to me before.

Strangely enough my chef was never asked to cook anything so I kept pulling dishes out of the frig but none of them triggered the Call to Meal before it timed out.  Oh well, just try again.  Was disappointed that we didn't even get the silver the chef needed even with everything else filled.

Is it possible there weren't enough servings for everyone? So you couldn't call everyone to the meal as not everyone would be able to eat. Just a thought.

The number of servings versus the number of party-goers doesn't make any difference, usually (usually, as in that one time when "Call to Meal" didn't appear).
I've been able to "Call to Meal" with a plate of 8 servings even at a party with more than 8 guests.
