Finding Happiness *Complete*
« on: February 17, 2016, 06:07:04 PM »
Hey guys! This isn't the beginning of the story. However, I have the sims ready and the house semi-ready. I just wanted to post the pictures of the house now and get that out of the way, also to give you guys a sneak peak of some sort =P

No, I'm not telling you what it's about just yet... Patience! =]

- Chapter Index - (Click spoiler for list)
Updated: Jan.12.2017

Most of the inside of the house is done by the creator of the house (I can get you guys the name if you want it) HOWEVER, I proudly take credit for the three 'garden' sections of the pictures. I worked hard on them and I'm really happy with how they turned out! I also added the flowers and bushes along side the back of the house as well.

Wow!  And we're calling this a "house"?  It's gorgeous, but you know, my very favorite part is all the garden areas!  You did a beautiful job.  The landscaping so suites that big house but is so well done in could look great with almost any really nice house.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Yay! One step closer to a new Ally story!

Ally - did you design this house yourself? Holy mother of gods, that must have taken some work! It looks beautiful!

Edit: I missed your last comment before posting my question. Stupid me! But it looks like the original designer and you both did excellent work.

"Madam Allysa, I am to remind you that the limo is to arrive in thirty minutes."

"Thomas please, it's Allysa."

"I'm sorry ma'am, your mother and father forbid me to call you by your name without madam in front of it." Thomas informed me.

"Of course they do." I muttered under my breath.

"Thirty minutes." He repeated.

"Thank you Thomas."

I got up from my chair and walked over to the mirror and looked into it and focused on who I saw:

I saw a young adult named Allysa. On the outside she looks like a normal girl with long black hair and blue eyes. Those who know her or know of her however, know that she's far from normal... In my dreams I'm a normal girl, I get up every morning and go to work. I come home every night to my husband and children, and then do it all over again. In reality I am the daughter of Phillip and Vanessa Haystings. Yes, I said Haystings... By now you know that my family is one of the richest families out there. What you don't know is that the majority of the time my smile is fake. I don't like being rich, being rich comes with A LOT of rules and responsibilities.

I sighed and walked over to my closet and opened it. I chose my royal blue dress with my black heels.

"Remember to pick stuff that's not revealing."

I grabbed my black long sleeved gloves and slipped them on.

"Remember to pick out your best jewelry, there will be a lot of people to impress."

I opened my jewelry box and picked out a pearl bracelet and and my diamond necklace.

"Remember that attitude is everything! Be kind and never show weakness."

"Madam Allysa, the limo has arrived."

"Thank you Thomas."

Here goes nothing, another dinner party, another night to impress all the other rich snobs.

...

"Allysa honestly, the caterer will be here in an hour. You don't need to make your own food." Mother scolded.

"I can do it myself mother." I told her.

"We pay for services is all."

"I can do things myself."

She just huffed and walked away, I sighed and continued to eat my yogurt.

"Good morning Shelly." I said cheery.

She smiled.

"How are you?" I asked.

She just looked at me.

"Everything okay?"

"Yes ma'am."

I looked at her.

"Can I have a drink?" I asked.

"Yes ma'am."

"Shelly, you can talk to me you know."

"All due respect ma'am, madam Vanessa wishes for us to keep to ourselves."

"Unbelievable." I mumbled.

I shook my head, "Well, you can talk to me."

I had a very nice conversation with her and headed into the kitchen.

"Good morning Alexander!" I greeted.

He smiled, "Good morning madam Allysa, today's breakfast consists of eggs, sausage, bacon, English muffins, and toast with jam."

"I'll just have some toast with grape jam." I said sitting at the table.

"Coming right up."

"Here you go ma'am."

"Come sit with me!" I offered.

"No ma'am."

"Please! I insist!"

"Madam Vanessa and Sir Phillip would not approve of me sitting down. I must work on the lunch menu for the day."

I sighed.

"It's boring you know, being in the house alone. I mean mother and father are here most of the time, but when they are here they are busy working on things. The only interaction I have is the hired help and apparently they've trained you guys not to speak..." I sighed.

I finally talked him into sitting down after a while and he was actually a nice gentleman!

"What is this?!"

I looked and saw father standing in the kitchen.

"Sir! I am so sorry! Madam Allysa asked me to sit and talk!"

"I don't care, we hired you to cook not to socialize with our daughter who should know better not to disrupt you guys!"

"Father!" I scolded.

"Stay out of this!"

"I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to let you go."

"Of course, I'm sorry sir."

I watched as Alexander walked out of the house, father left the room but I marched right after him.

"Father!"

He turned around looking shocked.

"I'm sorry, I may be stepping over the line but that was uncalled for!"

"Allysa when you hire people for a job, you expect that job to be done in the way that you request it done. I specifically told him that he was to not take any breaks until his relief got here after lunch. I then walked in to find him sitting down at the table when the lunch menu hadn't even been planned."

I had to bite my tongue. This wasn't right, people should not be treated like filth underneath shoes!

...

"Allysa?"

I looked up and saw father.

"Yes father?"

"May I?" He asked, wanting to sit.

"Of course."

"I know you'll never say this, but I am aware that you hate this lifestyle."

"Father-"

"No, don't apologize or deny it. There are times I feel the same way, but I push it aside that because I have to do what needs to be done. We may not be celebrities, we may not be royalties, but we are one of the well known families in this town. People watch our every move, our every breath. We do not have room for failure or mess ups, and that is why I hold a tight fist on the kitchen crew and every other person we hire."

I sighed.

"I just hope one day you can understand where I'm coming from."

I shook my head, "I don't want to understand."

"One day you'll have too."

He got up and walked away.

"No, I won't." I whispered.

...I'm not sure if I like the beginning but I can't fuss over it anymore and keep you guys waiting! I feel like I could've offered a lot more information on the family and such. But I suppose there is still plenty of time for that! I've been working on it since the last update with the pictures of the house (that's more of a mansion really). I hope you guys like it! =]

Wonderful start! I love the immediate tension between Allysa and her family, and Allysa and her life, and, well, Allysa and herself! This is going to be interesting!

"Madam Alyssa, your mother would like to remind you that it's workout day today." Thomas said.

I groaned as I shoved my head into my pillow.

"She would like you up within the hour." He told me.

I groaned again before forcing myself out of bed. I checked the clock: 5:45 A.M.

"Why do I have to wake up before the sun to work out?" I asked myself.

I got changed into my work out clothes, which also had to not be revealing, and headed downstairs to our gym.

Leg day was the worst, but my crazy obsessive mother had my schedule written down and posted every week.

...

"Wow! Look at her! Oh Vanessa she's grown so much!" Patricia, one of our "family friends", said.

"I know, she's quite the wonderful young lady." Mother said.

I smiled and took a sip of my water with a lemon.

"Now Alyssa, why don't you go mingle while Patricia and I talk about business talk." Mother said.

I smiled and nodded, excusing myself politely. So there I was walking around with my glass of water smiling at people. I didn't know who the majority of these people were. All I knew is they looked stuck up and snobby, so I just stood by the wall and waited for my parents to finish making an appearance at yet another dinner party.

"You look lonely."

I looked up.

"Excuse me?" I asked.

There was a guy, and I swear he was made of porcelain. He had black hair and green eyes and a fake smile.

"I said, you look lonely all over her by yourself."

"I am perfectly fine thank you." I said.

"I just thought you'd want company."

"Well, thank you for your concern but I'm fine."

He gave me a weird look and walked away. Sure, I could've been a little more polite but I didn't want to "chat" with a Mr. My Parents Have Money.

...

"I wish for a better life." I whispered.

"Honey, what are you doing outside?" Mother asked.

"Just getting some fresh air and checking out this well." I told her.

"Is everything okay?" She asked.

"Everything is just fine mother, nothing to worry about." I smiled.

"You know, I saw you talking with that young lad earlier. He seemed to really enjoy it."

"He was nice."

"You know, it's time you meet a nice fellow. Your father and I don't have long, and we want to see you get married."

She led me to the nearest bench and we sat down.

"I don't know mother. I don't know if I am ready yet."

"Look, I know we don't talk with you about the business aspect or anything else. We want you to be able to enjoy yourself without worrying about that. However, in order for the.. funds to keep going our first born child must be married and he or she must have a son."

I looked at her like she had three heads.

"That doesn't make any sense." I told her.

"It's been a family rule for ages. Your fathers parents had to follow it, their parents followed it, and so on and so forth."

"So I have to get married and have a son, or else the money just vanishes?"

"Well no, but it will eventually run out and will stop."

"Where does our money even come from?"

"Don't worry about that my dear." She said patting my leg.

She kissed my head before going back into the house.

What was my mother and father hiding from me? The whole "I have to get married and have a son first" aspect of it all made no sense to me. It would if we were royal, but we weren't. I mean, money doesn't just fall from trees so where is it coming from? Something wasn't right here, and I was going to find it out one way or another...

...

"Madam Alyssa, it's painting day. Your mother and father are sending you to the vineyard across town for painting lessons." Thomas stated.

"Thank you Thomas, I'll get ready right now." I said, trying to sound enthused.

It was a beautiful place, and mother and father rented it out just for me. So once again, I was all alone. Not that I wanted to be around people because the people I would've been around would be rich people. At least here I didn't have to pretend to be anyone.

I wasn't sure what I was suppose to paint, so I just started painting... something.

Some person ended up stealing the painting... I thought I was alone but apparently ghosts could still come and go. I walked around for a while and got lost in the maze a few times. It was so peaceful here that I never wanted to leave. There was no one to tell you what to wear, no one to tell you what to say. I didn't have the lovely Thomas to tell me what my mother had planned for me that day. I came across a wedding venue. I stared at the arch and imagined myself in a white dress, marrying the person that I chose. It would be romantic and lovely...

A girl could dream... right?

I changed the way I spell Alyssa. It was Allysa, but I like this spelling better! And it seems like her parents are hiding something... Hmmm.... Sorry it took so long! Enjoy! =]

Poor Alyssa.  A wedding should be romantic and lovely... but a marriage is a lot a work!

BTW:  Interesting plot hole - if Alyssa has to have a son first, where is Alyssa's older brother or did her folks mess up the continuity and have a daughter instead.  Is that why the money is drying up?

I don't have time to play and get pictures, but I promised an update and I try to hold true to my promises! I probably wouldn't be able to get pictures to fit anyway! So this update will be a text only one, sorry! Enjoy =]

"This doesn't make any sense." I whispered.

I was searching our library for something, anything, that would explain what why I had to get married and had to have a son. I searched each shelf one book at a time but found nothing out of the ordinary.

"Alyssa."

I jumped and dropped the five books I was holding and searching through, I turned around trying my best not to look guilty.

"Yes father?" I asked, plastering a smile on my face.

"Your mother and I have to go out for some business. We will be gone for quite some time so I hired a cook to make you dinner. I expect nothing but the best of behavior from you and the best food from him."

"Yes father." I said.

He left the room.

A light bulb went off. Father's desk! There had to be something in here to explain something. I casually put the books back and waited patiently for mother and father to leave the house. I shot upstairs the second the limo pulled away and headed into father's office. I made sure no one was watching as I closed the door. I remember being a small child and sneaking into his office to watch him work, it's amazing what one can see. I rushed to the desk and found the hide away key and opened up the locked drawer. Anything worth finding was going to be in here or the safe.

All that was in this drawer were father's financial files. I scanned each year all the way to the back of the drawer. The year 1990 was highlighted in purple marker. Then I recognized that not only was that highlighted, but every year was missing until the year I was born. Father said the lawyer encouraged him to keep financial records of everything once I was born so that explained that. But what was with the 1990 file? I pulled it out and looked at it. A single bank statement and invoice of a check for a pretty decent amount of money lay in the file. There was a note inside stating that all the money that mother and father demanded included with the letter and that whoever was writing it would never contact the family again.

"Weird."

I decided to file that into the back of my head and put the file back into the drawer and locked it up. I walked over to the picture of the vineyard and lifted the picture frame to reveal the safe.

"Okay, let's see if father has changed the passcode..." I whispered.

773259

Beep! The light turned green.

"HA! Spy Alyssa has cracked the safe!" I silently celebrated.

I took a minute to memorize how things were placed and where before starting my search. I removed the case in which I assumed was a gun. My eyes widened as I found several envelopes stuffed with cash, was our supply running so low that they had to stash this much cash? I continued to search but so far nothing that sparked any interest was found. That was until I came across a newspaper clipping.

"What's this?" I asked myself.

HAYSTINGS FAMILY SUFFERS HUGE LOSS!

It's a sad day for the Haystings Family. Vanessa and Phillip Haystings of
Cottage Grove reported this morning that Jason Haystings, their 17
year old son, was found dead earlier this morning. Jason was reported
missing a year ago and police have been searching ever since.
Vanessa and Phillip Haystings have both refused to make any
further comments at this time on whether or not foul play was ruled out.
The Haystings, now expecting their second child (a girl), request that
the family be allowed to grieve in peace and will address the matter
when they rule necessary.

I dropped the news clipping and covered my mouth. I had a brother?! I quickly picked it up and put it back when I noticed something else.

Dear Mr. Haystings,

I regret to inform you that since the unfortunate passing of your son, the continuance of the family inheritance will be frozen until the required guidelines are met. I would like to remind you that in order for the money to continue your daughter, Alyssa Haystings, must marry and have a son. If this does not happen, then I can do nothing more. I made a promise as the family lawyer to make sure you abide to these rules. The rules state that in order for the inheritance checks to continue, so must the family name. Normally it wouldn't matter when the son came in to the picture. However, your case file clearly states that your ancestors believed it to be bad luck if a son is not born first. I am not sure as to how much this rule can be bent, so I would highly encourage your daughter to marry and have a son as soon as she can.

Hope you have a good day,
Mr. Alexander Johnson

"Bad luck to not have a son first? What?!"

I continued to look through the safe. I found out why father had a bank statement file for 1990 but not a single one up until I was born. But what was the hefty amount of money that was paid in full to mother and father? And was that check cashed and the money put into the safe? I pulled out a folder and searched, I gasped and almost dropped the folder. I immediately shut the folder and threw it back in the safe. Tears filled my eyes as I backed away from the safe. I had a brother, I had a brother and he was brutally beaten and killed by this maniac! The money and bank statements was from the family of this maniac pleading with my father not to go to the police and ruin their family name for what their son did. Father accepted the money, but the pain couldn't be bought away. I saw the limo pull back in the driveway and hurried to put everything back in the safe.

I rushed to my room and slammed the door. I hurried to my desk and tried to collect myself so that if mother or father came to check on me they wouldn't see that I was upset. I had a brother. Why wouldn't they tell me this? Why would they hide something like this from me? This was all too much to handle. I had a brother that was murdered and now I was going to be forced into being married and have a child sooner or later. I took out my journal and a pen and began to write.

Dear Diary,

I learned some things today. Things that angered me, hurt me, and more importantly made me wish my life was different. Some may say that I have it good and that I shouldn't complain. What they don't know is that I would trade it in a heart beat. They don't know that every day I long to be happy. I'm trapped here in a vicious circle. I can't leave because I need money, and I can't get my own money because mother thinks I'll wither away if,  god forbid, I get a job. I hate it here. HATE it. And soon I'll be married off like some piece of property to one of these rich snobby men. I shiver every time I have to think of it. I hope one day I can find happiness...

Alyssa

I closed the book when Thomas told me that dinner was served. I got up and headed downstairs to act like nothing was wrong and that I didn't know about my brother.

I really hope that made sense... Because it kind of does to me but then it doesn't... Ugh.
Anyway, I hope it at least cleared up some things...

Ohhhhh...

Spooky and creepy.

And, most importantly, dramatic.

Well done! Can't wait to see how she deals with this knowledge, and if, or when, or how, she eventually confronts her parents (or not!)...good stuff coming, I can tell.
