Romantic relationships
« on: February 16, 2016, 02:08:08 AM »
Are there certain traits that will make my sim start an autonomous relationship with another sim? Do they need traits in common etc.? When my sim has the flirty moodlet they still don't start romantic interactions on their own. Why is this?

Welcome to the Forum, Supernova!

For the most part, your sim won't start romantic relationships on their own. If you really want your sims to develop their own relationships, you can play rotationally. If you leave one sim to go and play another household for a few days, when you return to that sim you might find that he or she has developed friendships, romances, and enemies. These won't have anything to do with traits, though; the game just randomly assigns them.

Also, if you have Get Together, you can set up a romance club, in which being romantic with other sims in the club is one of the club's activities. I haven't tried this myself, so I don't know how well it works.

Thanks I will try switching households or using clubs and see how that works out.

Here's one thing I observed:

Last week, I  was using my laptop, and I started a brand new game, with a brand new Sim, in Willow Creek. After the Welcome to the Neighborhood event, Travis could be counted on regular visits, along with the others from the BFF household. I'm convinced that's what they're there for in the game - to be the best friends for your Sim. A couple of weeks into the game, Summer came over in a flirty mood, and I decided to roll with it. She became good buds, with my new Sim. Well, two days later, Liberty shows up at the house. She was just in a normal happy mood. I think she was still at 1/4 green bar. However, as I was browsing the fridge for something to serve, I noticed some hearts being cued up. One was her complimenting my new Sim's appearance, and I think he had a flirt cued up. Also, as I was watching, they took turns taking each other's pictures for a while. It wasn't enough to give him a pink bar with her, but it is an example of autonomous "romantic" interaction.
