"Didn't you read the contract?"  snort.....This story had me laughing so hard!  I think I like the "royals" best.  How many could they possibly be descended from?  hehehe
What?  Grannies can't play games?

That's pretty amazing that Skyler got her honey from the Wishing Well.
I also love that she had twins, each with the skin tone of one of the parents.

Her name, Darwin, reminded me of that film Trading Places with Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd.
In that film two old men have a bet which matters more, nature or nuture.
Does that notion (not the film) inspire this bloodline's family name?

Love these rival dynasties even more than your first three (if that's possible).

Matisse – A Wish for a Promotion

While we were visiting other households, Ulrike had her baby – a boy named Colin.

One evening, the Watcher summoned Rafe from his bed.

Watcher: It's time for your next wish.

Rafe gave Ulrike a hug, took a last look at his sleeping son, and hurried out into the night.

Later...

Rafe: After all that, you didn't get a picture?

Watcher: I was afraid you might get too angry. I wanted to make sure I'd get you to the mirror to calm yourself down.

Rafe: Here I spend all this money to put the Well in a good mood, and I get demoted, and you don't even get a picture. What kind of Watcher are you?

Watcher: Now, now, you'll get back to your position in no time. You just have to make sure you're feeling inspired while at work. Doing yoga will help.

Watcher: Happiness helps, too, so you and Ulrike can keep renewing your wedding vows. Going on an occasional date is also a good idea.

Rafe: Oh, so you're a marriage counselor now?

Watcher: Are you complaining?

Rafe: Not really. Go away.

Having regular meetings of The Impressionables gave a final boost. Besides providing a way for Rafe to complete his paintings, he was also able to pick up the "networked" club perk. By the end of the week, he'd been promoted back to his previous position, and also promoted to Canvas Creator. There was an added bonus to the meetings – they seemed to increase the likelihood of masterpieces. Rafe produced this picture of hollyhocks:

And Ulrike painted another masterpiece of delphiniums.

Meanwhile, Colin became a child.

Colin: I like cake!

Colin also likes digging up things outdoors...

...along with being read to by his father.

The dollhouse in his room was replaced with a chemistry set so that he could achieve the Whiz Kid aspiration.

Colin: And also so I can make health potions to use when I go fishing. Which I haven't done yet, Watcher.

Watcher: Next week.

It is time to pay some attention to the helper in this dynasty. Maaike's novels have been steadily becoming more lucrative, bringing in nearly $1000 a day. But she's also helped out with Colin, playing chess with him before Rafe and Ulrike get home from work.

And reading to him from The First Unicorn even though Colin isn't always appreciative.

Colin: Unicorn stories are for girls.

Despite a heavy schedule of writing and baby-sitting...

Colin: I don't need a babysitter...

Maaike does find some time for yoga.

Ulrike is busy, too. Her favorite form of relaxation is watching movies. [/i]Lost Dog's Journey Home[/i] is the one she enjoys most.

Colin: I think I'd rather have a dog than a cat. Can we get a puppy, Watcher?

Watcher: Probably not before you become an elder.

We'll leave you with another of Ulrike's masterpieces, this one of Colin playing chess.

All the children are adorable but I like Colin the best.  Same name as my grandson.  Maalke does make a good house mate and baby sitter, doesn't she?  I think she'd be a good parent.

Glad to hear that Matisse recovered from his demotion so quickly!

What an amazing painting of the hollyhocks. All of my "painting from reference" works tend to be grainy and unfocused.  :-(
Welcome to Newcrest, Colin!

Colin has some gorgeous expressions and I love the flowers you are using! But I too, like Shewolf, can't decide which family I will be going for!

I am amased that you can handle two of these challenges at once. Really good going.
And the concept of this one with the wishing well is genius, but also that you choose the same bloodline option. Im interested in seeing if all go side by side when you do it like this.
If i should pick a favorite it would be the Nobles family. I kind of just like her, and feel bad for her having a bad first wish.

I'm curious to see how they'll work out, too. I'm trying to be more relaxed with this -- less striving to get the heir out the door as quickly as possible.

Noble – A Wish for Grades

Hesitantly, the supplicants approach the ivy-covered granter of wishes.

Bianca: I don't see why we have to come in the middle of the night.

Watcher: You have to go and make your wish first thing when I rotate around to you. And I happen to change families in the middle of the night. You can look it up in the rules.
Emerson: It's okay, Mom. It's no big deal. I'm not scared.

Bianca (muttering): Well, you should be.

Watcher: I have it on the highest authority that the Well doesn't kill children.

Emerson: I wish for better grades!

Emerson's phone rings.

Phone: Emerson, I'm your homeroom teacher. Even though it's two o'clock in the morning, I just couldn't sleep until I told you that your grades are going to go up tomorrow provided you get your homework done.

Travis: Can we go home now?

Everyone went home and went to bed. As soon as he got up, Emerson started doing his homework.

Travis: Amazing. Maybe we should take him to the Wishing Well every night.

Bianca: No way. That thing is evil.

As things turned out, though, Emerson did not go straight from a C to a B. He had a B, but his grade dropped when he filled out his standardized test top to bottom instead of left to right. He did his homework the next day, anyway – he'd found a new incentive.

Elsa: Wow, you must be pretty smart, moving up in class so fast.

Emerson (modestly): Not as smart as you. I just work hard, that's all.

Over the next few days, Emerson and Elsa became good friends. They watched clouds together – and actually agreed upon the shapes they saw.

They played at pirates.

Emerson liked to fire the cannon. Elsa liked to be captain and steer.

There's one tried-and-true method for impressing a girl – making a silly face. Emerson pulled it off, and they became best friends forever.

Renewing their vows on a regular basis has kept Bianca and Travis happy enough to keep getting promotions.

The night before starting his new job, Travis had a dream that he would have to wear Halloween make-up to work.

Travis: And a pink jacket.

So he was relieved to find that his new uniform wasn't too bad.

We'll close with a brief look at one of the Nobles' helpers – Summer Holiday. While it's true that she does have to spend a lot of time painting...

...and she has to clean up after everyone...

Summer does get a few perks, like unlimited use of the hot tub.

She also gets to go to the Museum whenever she wants.

And of course, she can watch TV.

Watcher: Summer, wouldn't you rather see a movie? That's the fifth time you've watched the news.

Summer: I wish I could meet a fireman. Isn't he the dreamiest?

Emerson wished for better grades and just discovered what every Mom, knows, it takes hard work and a lot of homework!  Love the interlude with Summer.  Her outfit is really cute on her.  Nice to see a helper having some perks.

Ohh i miss read you "extra" rule and thought i was the founder that had to do the wishing, so consider me surprised when it was little Emerson that did the wishing!
Luckely nothing bad happend to him.
