Mind if I steal your idea?  I have a few ideas as to how to make this a fun and less stressful than usual challenge, not that yours isn't.  I think I'd ban Clubs though.  Makes everything way too easy even for the lady that likes the Easy Button.  I won't publish what I do unless it's ok with you as it is your idea.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Think I might pass on the bear hug. Sounds a little suspicious. :)
Sure go ahead and pet him. He wouldn't hurt a fly.
Reaches out to pet the bear and gets bit. Hey, I thought you said he wouldn't hurt a fly.
Well, I did but your not a fly. ;)

Looking at your furniture list looks like you have it all planed out and will end up with a nice house. I'm enjoying following this and it gets me to look at careers in a way I hadn't thought about.

*grins*  Go ahead and have fun with it!  I'd love to see what other people can find to get around never touching buy mode.  My Sim is in a club, the Goodtimers, mostly for social interaction and having access to their private bar.  Bartenders can get hard to move out of the way sometimes, and I needed to get my mixology skills up!  Once I've poked this playthrough enough, I'll start looking at making actual challenge rules and perhaps a list of items the sim has to get for a successful challenge completion.

heh, well, maybe I should have said he needs a fish bribe first?  Yummy fresh salmon!

Ok, I'll have to go fishing then. :)

If you ever need it, another option for access to a bar that's easy to forget about is the park in Oasis Springs has a bar that isn't tended bar a bartender. I use that one often when building mixology.

Lol, I laughed to hear about you joining the GoodTimers for their private bar. By chance, did you name your sim "Minnie the Moocher"?

Ah, thanks for that tip, I'd forgotten about that bar!

Hee hee, no her name is Jenny, and she's actually the first sim I created for this game, way back when the create a sim program was dropped just before game release.  She's one of my favorite Sims to use.

My date for a silver reward went perfectly, I was careful not to do *too* much, but still got a nice smooch in.

I decided to give the Pancakes a thank you gift of fruit cake for all the time I've been hogging their kitchen and the days I'm still going to spend sawing away at their woodworking bench!

Now my sim kept spinning wishes for buying pool lights and then it hit me that  pool lights don't have to be in the pool... and they're found in build mode!  Time to start lighting up the place!

And Culinary level 8 has finally dropped, giving up the wonderful prize of a high  quality fridge!  Cooking at home is now a reality!

Oooh, brilliant idea about the pool lights!  And they look fab, too!
Congratulations on getting the fridge at last.

Wow, your very first sim!  Your project's been so much fun to follow.

The Spa Day flower light is really versatile as it turns out.  The outer rim can be set to a variety of colors and then by changing the color of the light and fiddling with the intensity you get a nice inner color!

At the end of Week 8, I maxxed out the Culinary career!  So I declare the kitchen *done*.

I have seven vacation days right now, so I'm going to stay in the culinary career for a bit, using those days and getting money while powering through the last level of Handiness at the Pancake's house. While I could move up the basement bathroom, I'd rather carve out a toilet to match the nice new tub that's gracing the second floor.

The house is really taking form now, once I have the bathroom knocked out with the toilet, I'll be shifting careers to painting for the high quality double bed.

This is an amazing concept! I think, once the Tournament is complete, I might just have to give this a try!

My fellow Simmers, the bathroom is a go!  Sadly it still lacks a sink, but I think until I get to the science career and start zapping objects with a ray gun, one sink is all I'm going to get.  The science career will also net me a far superior shower, but the tarp one still works for now!

With that done I officially quit the culinary career and started up the ranks of painting.

I have also grabbed now the rewards for faster promotions, more possible masterpieces and a higher sell price for items.   A silver house party at the Spencer-Kim-Lewis house was thrown and a couch reward has been added to the downstairs.

Without the need to spend spare time at the woodworking bench, my sim has had a chance to relax and have a little more fun!

I think I have a goal for this project, which is to earn the Mansion Baron achievement.  But not too quickly!  I'm having a lot of fun right now and I really want to see just how many neat things I can get!
