Tip: Randomizing Traits
« on: January 27, 2016, 09:39:28 AM »
Here's a good site for randomization if you want to do that for your sims. It's set up so you can do it for children and teens as well, and you can even eliminate traits that you don't want any of your sims to have:

It's updated to Get Together. If you don't have Get Together or Outdoor Retreat, you can uncheck the traits and aspirations that came with those packs. Also, if you're using it for a legacy, you can plug in the traits that your child or teen already have.

Yes, that is a good one. I've used it for a while now.

I was wondering if you two could explain when and why you randomize traits.
The thought of attempting a challenge with a rule-set requiring randomized traits quite terrifies me.

Do you also randomize traits for non-challenge game files?
I can see how it could make you a more versatile player, but I find gameplay challenging even when a sim has perfect traits for his career/aspiration...

Do you randomize traits even when it's not required, for that extra challenge?

I do randomize traits for non-challenge sims. It's better for me that way, since I tend to favour positive traits, but want to experience them all equally. It usually rolls very interesting sims.

I've done this for a while now on my Sims 3 for challenges, mostly the apocalypse challenge where we have to randomize. It's not that bad (usually) once you get used to it. I did have a couple of sims in one family once who had the unstable trait and that was very hard, but overall, you just swing w/what they have or what they get.

Another fun way to randomize is to roll some dice! :) That's how I like to do it anyway. :P
