Too slow ultra speed :(

Hi all,

I'm having some issues with the ultra speed, which is too slow and only slightly better than the fast speed (2) In the Sims 2 ultra speed is like 10 times faster than the fast speed, which means that it took only less than 20s in real life for the sims to get their full sleep or return home from work. In the sims 4 it's much slower (at least on my computer) and I'm positively sure that my computer's specs exceed the minimum requirements if not recommended. Is the game's ultra speed supposed to be this slow or did I miss something?

Welcome to the Forum, emsnu! I think in TS4, the ultra speed just is slower than it was in TS2. There are also 2 types of ultra speed -- the kind that the game imposes when all your sims are sleeping or at work and then the kind when you click on ultra speed. The latter is barely faster than speed 2. In other words, I doubt that it's your computer; I think it's the game.

I see I hope that EA fixes this soon, either by making ultra speed faster or making the 4 speed available.

I miss the quick speed 4. I used it a lot in Sims 3.

If you don't mind using a mod there is one that will let you activate the fast speed that kicks in when all sims are asleep or at work any time you want.
Super Speed Mod.
The mod hasn't been update in awhile but I still use it with no problems and it is nice when doing something that takes a long time, like writing a book or a song.

Hey everyone I tried the mod suggested by Grimsoul, it worked The only problem is that ever since I installed that mod it seems that the sims free will is gone, they just stand there all day doing nothing waiting for me to assign an action for them. Is there anyway to fix this

I'm sorry to hear it's causing you problems. I'm not sure why the mod would have done that to you, I've been using it for a long time without any problems.
But you might try clearing the Cache Files or do a repair the game through Origin and see if that helps.

It seems that the loss of autonomy is caused by the mod. After removing the mod my sims have free will again, although they still idle occasionally. Guess I'll have to get myself accustomed to wait for sims to finish their tasks

To bad it didn't work for you. I done a lot of searching to see if there was another mod that was more up to date that done the same thing but I haven't been able to find another one. But if I do run across another one I'll let you know.
I know how you feel, I missed the super speed from the sims 3 and I miss the option to fast forward until the current task is finished then go back to normal speed.

@grimsoul although that might be by design on the part of the devs... Can you imagine how easy it would be to miss your sim getting mortified or enraged and only twigging on to it when your namesake shows up to reap them?

That's true, I hadn't thought about that happening. But I do still miss fast forward until task is done option. I use fast speed a lot and hate having to watch the progress bar all time until it task is finished.

I do hope that EA will release un update for this soon. Without the fast speed I became afraid to send my sims to conventional 9-to-5 jobs or have them practice writing. Oh well, guess I'll be back to The Sims 2 for awhile.

Ok forget about the time flow I just heard that the townies and sims in the neighborhood don't reproduce or regenerate and that after a few hours the currently active household will be the only one alive

Is it true?
