Can I run it?
« on: January 23, 2016, 02:43:55 PM »
Hello!

I will have a new PC by Tuesday, I am currently on laptop now which partially able to run The Sims 4.

On top of that, can the following specs able to run The Sims 3 with expanions packs just fine without lags/freeze? Can also the following specs make The Sims 4 totally lag free? Specs:

Intel Core i5 4460 3.2GHZ 6MB Cache
Sapphire R7 240 2GB GDDR3
8GB RAM

Thoughts?

Yes this computer should run Sims 3 and 4 without too many problems in medium settings.

However for Sims 3, please keep in mind there will still be some lag, stuttering and slow downs with Create a Sim, Create a Style and build mode. Also the more content you add like store content and custom content, the more the game will lag. This is due to the way the game handles additional content. Not much can be done to speed that up, unfortunately. But it is far less noticeable on a desktop.

I remember back on old PC with Intel Dual Core 2.4ghz, I was playing The Sims 3 with 4-5 expansion packs installed, at several times(Almost always), the game often came to freeze on in-game night times and all A.I became totally unresponsive, nothing could be done, yet the green crystal kept rotating around.

I hope you understand the in-game known issue, would I still encounter that frustating issue with my new processor?

Oh yes I am SO familiar with that lag and freezing. *Snicker* I've actually ran into that myself recently, but that was my fault in trying to play an older game save from over a year or so... *Blush* ago.

No you shouldn't run into that type of lag/freezing with the new computer. As you've got an overall better computer. So all should be good. :)
