Following Sims in Sims4

Hi all.  Please forgive this idiot (me for asking such a stupid question.  Apologies in advance.

I started playing Sims 4 not long after it came out.  However, the one thing that I hated was that I couldn't make the "camera" follow my created Sim like you can make it in Sims 3.  So I gave up playing it and just stayed with Sims 3.

I would now like to try and start playing again and am wondering if you can now do this in Sims 4?

There is a icon of the sims in your household in the lower left of the screen. If you right click on that icon it will lock the camera to that sim and follow them around.
