EA doesn't recogonize my video graphic card ?
« on: January 12, 2016, 05:42:16 PM »
Here is the computer I bought.  Downloaded Sims 4 today and a message popped up telling me that they didn't recognize my video graphic card.
Told it to go ahead with settings on high.  Figure I can change it later if I need to.

I am confused as to why it isn't recognized, and if leaving the setting on high is a bad idea.

iBUYPOWER - Desktop - Intel Core i5 - 16GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive - White

Model is BB706  SKU 4513603
Hard drive 1000 gigabyles
SATA
Processor brand Intel  (Is this where I messed up, didn't realize it was an Intel)
Processor speed 3.5 gh
processor model  Intel Core i5
RAM 16 GB
Wireless network  wireless AC
Cache memory 6    (the CyberPower had 8 )
media card reader   No
Type of memory  DDR4
system memory 2400 MH
Graphic Processing NVIDIA
Graphic card   NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950
video memory 2000 MH
Hard Drive RPM 7200

In another area, I can't seem to get the emoticons to show up.  Does anyone know how I can fix that?     Ii clicked on the "huh?" icon and nothing is showed up in preview, don't really want to have to learn all of the keystrokes to create them as they do seem to show up when I use them.

Here's something that will help you configure your video card.

Video Card Cannot be Run with This Game
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,21899.msg407112.html#msg407112

The newer video cards are sometimes not supported by EA as they haven't added them to their supported card list and so then players have to add it themselves or get help in doing so.

As for the emoticons you may need to give more detail about that. Are you talking about you can't use the emoticon on the forum? Or is it something different?

The emoticons on the forum.  Before the new computer I would just click on the one I wanted and it showed up in the post.

Now, I click on it and nothing shows up.  I can do the keystrokes  :)  and it will show up, but I am lazy, I don't want to have to hunt up the keystrokes for each type and try to memorize them.

Josh said the same thing, I just didn't know what to do, did I need to find out (thanks for the link) on how to get it recognized or ignore it as not important.

Added:  checked the link, is my card not strong enough?  Do I need a better card?  Not sure, but do I have a dual card?

Finally got all of my games I bought downloaded.  Sims 4, GT and GTW along with Kitchen stuff.   Tomorrow I will play them.

Side note, there were two discs for Sims 4, did I need to use both of them?  It didn't ask for it, so I just put disc one in.

The emoticon problem sounds familiar. What might help is to change browsers. For example try using Firefox to log into the forum to see if that helps you be able to post emoticons.

It seems like it may be a problem with the way Edge shows (?) stuff. I'm not entirely sure. As I don't use the Edge browser.

Download Firefox Browser
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

I'm not sure on the Sims 4 discs. I think one of them is the game disc and the other is the bonus stuff possibly. When we tried to install it from disc Origin took over and started download it and then we just installed it from there.

used your link to go to Firefox and make it my browser.   Now to make Bing my home page    :)
Worked !  used a emoticon and it showed up.  Problem solved.  Thanks for the info and the link to firefox.
Had the same with Origin when I went to download, it took over and not only downloaded the Sims 4 but also the expansion pack GTW I bought through here.
